The hotel is centrally located, yet very quiet, with public transport just a few meters away and many shops, restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity. We chose the Mercure because if its location - just 5 minute walk to the City Airport Train station. We were very surprised at how lovely the hotel was combining old world style and beautiful modern amenities. To our surprise, we were chosen as The Guest of the Day and presented with a room upgrade, 2 free drinks at their bar and access to items in the minibar for free. As you can see in the pictures, the 'privelege' room was amazing - spacious, beautifully appointed and comfortable. Regarding the location, there are lots of food options (food carts as well as restaurants) and shopping up and down the street. Don't let their window upgrade renovation stop you from staying here. It is the perfect jump off point for all your tours in Vienna with easy Tram and metro access and the biggest plus is the ability to drop your luggage as soon as possible after arriving in the city! Many thanks to the Mercure for a wonderful stsy.

Resturant - evening meal good. Breakfast has a wide selection. Nice touch of personal omellette maker. First morning - chaos as drinks machine faied and took a while to fix - at the time of peak customer demand. It was fixed but not a lot of engagement from staff to apologise and provide updates.
Closeness to station made it easy to walk to and catch a train for the airport upon departure.
The Austrian menu is low on vegetables - a general finding - so an option of more vegetables would be nice.

I was so so happy I booked this hotel. It was close enough to the train, and you will enter via this beautiful charming courtyard with colourful umbrellas. The hotel is in a really good location, very quiet, close to the best gelato and breakfast spots. The room was bigger and better than I expected, and even had a bathtub!!. The staff were so kind and helpful and went the extra mile to explain all the attractions close by, and we got some really good discounts too! They also really helped us out when I was in a tough situation and had to stay an extra day later than expected. To my surprise there was even a sauna in this place!! - It was really good strong heated sauna too. We kept getting surprised every day by all the little details and extras they were giving us. I didn't understand why so many people complain when I read the reviews for this place. Overall i will definitely be coming back, and going with this chain again. The staff and facilities exceeded my expectations.
Everything was perfect - only very minor things - the couch needed a backrest or cushion. And it was a bit far to walk from room to elevator.

Very good location in a central area - a lot of stores and places to eat nearby. Vienna's public transportation works excellently, and it's easy to get anywhere from the hotel. Friendly staff, straightforward service and a clean hotel.
The room's air conditioning was not efficient enough. Fortunately, we were provided with a separate fan. There were some minor challenges with the hot water - it was not always available for a while. A bidet shower would have been an excellent addition.

We didn’t like anything about the property.
We were really disappointed with our stay at this Mercure. While we appreciated being given a larger room, the overall experience was poor.
• Air Conditioning: None of the AC units worked properly. The first room we were assigned to, the AC wasn’t cooling at all, and when we switched to another room, it was the same issue.
• Condition of the hotel: Everything felt old and cheaply maintained — from the carpet to the lampshades. The mattress was so uncomfortable. An insect crawled on the ceiling. We took a video of it. My husband grabbed a whole bunch of toilet paper, and then caught it and flushed it.
• Amenities: There was only one usable electrical outlet, which was extremely inconvenient for charging devices.
• Location: The hotel is not in a great spot. The alleyway has rough cobblestones, which made dragging our suitcases very difficult.
Overall, this did not meet expectations for a Mercure-branded property, and we would not stay here again.

The location
A very bad experience. We arrived on a very hot September night only to discover that the AC was not working, on the contrary bringing almost warm air to the already humid room. But what really left us speechless was the response from the person at the reception who in a very cold reaction shrugged his shoulders and said bluntly “yes, there is a problem with the AC”, as if it were normal. When I asked if it was going to be repaired or what do they intend to do to make us more comfortable, he simply shrugged again and said “No, it is not going to be repaired but hopefully the weather would get cooler”. I don’t know how I kept my calm, probably I was too tired after a whole day of traveling, and I said you should have advised us as we came all the way from Egypt and we definitely didn’t expect this. He offered that we try two other rooms, stressing that “it will most probably be the same if not hotter”, which was the case. By then it was midnight and we were exhausted so we remained in the room. Next day, we expected that they would solve the problem but when we came back after a long day of tours, the situation was the same so I asked for a fan only to hear a person at the front desk asking “where are you from?” When I replied “Egypt”, his comment was “Ah, it’s very hot there!”, as if we were only complaining because we come from a hot country so I replied “yes, but there AC works in decent hotels”. The room is also dated, situated in the attic it is gloomy with dated design and narrow beds. Despite that the bathroom was large the shower was placed in the lowest part which meant that any normal height person like us had to bend to shower or wash our hair, not to mention the moisture in the shower ceiling as shown in adjoining picture. One day, the cups and glasses remained unwashed and the coffee was not refilled. The only reason we remained was our tight schedule as we had previously booked trips inside and outside the city and didn’t want to miss out on them.

We stayed at this hotel and were very pleased with the location – just a two-minute drive by U-bahn to Stephansplatz, which made exploring Vienna incredibly convenient. The room we were given faced the internal courtyard, which meant it was quiet and peaceful, perfect for resting after a day out.
However, one small downside was the strong smell of food coming from the kitchen, which was noticeable in the room at times. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it’s something to be aware of.
Overall, the location alone makes this hotel a great choice, especially for first-time visitors.

The location is an easy 15-20 minute walk to the busier innerstadt. Good sized rooms down a cute side street/alley.
The property looked like it’s seen better days. Signage was missing letters on the floor, the carpet had bleach stains, the walls were pretty dinged up, and the mattress was not great.

Great location - restaurants and coffee nearby, walking distance to Inner Stadt and trams, trains. Comfortable room and bed. Pretty room. Nice staff. Located on quiet alley so quiet at night. Loved it.
Hallways could use a little refurbishment - walls could use a fresh coat, rug stained a bit.

The location is fantastic! Close to everything from major shops to a wide range of restaurants! Located in a beautiful alley where you can enjoy a nice coffee and take some photos with the umbrellas decoration.
It does need a little bit of renovation in the rooms, but nothing major overall a great hotel.

I wanted a location near the Hauptbahnhof as I reached Vienna by train from Nuremberg.
The hotel location turned out to be slightly further but ultimately, this was not a negative.
The old world charm of the decor at the hotel including the rooms was perfect.
What did disappoint was the lack of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, even baked potatoes would have been a good option. Personally, there is a limit to the fruits and breads that I can eat for a hearty breakfast.

Everything was wonderful, the Reception deck was very helpful and accommodating during my stay.
Breakfast was more than excellent fresh breads, specially made omelettes. A large selection of cheese and cold meats, and also sausages and potatoes. Also some cakes too.
Location was a great . There are numerous buses, trams and underground to get anywhere in the City. Walking is also easy and a short distance to the Fast Train to the airport. About 16 minutes direct, which made life a lot easier leaving.
All and all feels like a very cozy and comfortable place that you want to come back again and again.
That my stay was too short, but I shall return

We booked two rooms - one room was considerably bigger than the other one even though the same price.
As the Boss and the person who booked, I was given the smaller room and my bed was very small (narrower that the other beds) so this should really have been looked at.

I enjoyed our stay here! The location was great, a nice walk down a very cute pedestrian road. Plenty of restaurants nearby that stay open later than expected. Quick walk to all public transit to get to the more central areas. We were here for the Christmas Markets and would come again for this purpose. The staff were friendly and quick to get us extra pillows, offer water in the lobby, provide guide books, and offer us chocolates. Restroom had a full tub/shower combo.
I like firm mattresses, so the bed did not bother me, but my husband found it too firm for his taste.

Everything was perfect! The staff is really nice. We had a problem with our room because it was upstairs and the last one, and my aunt couldn’t walk that much, one of the employees was really helpful and kind and changed our room.

The roof of our room was sloped on one side as I think it was right below the attic. I hit my head to that. You need to be really careful walking around.
My friend noticed hair over the pillow or bed sheet and wasn't happy with the level of cleanliness.
Our room was between 3rd and 4th floor and we had to go one extra floor by foot after getting off the lift

Bed was very, very firm in our room. However, the bed in the other room our family booked was not, so perhaps we were just unlucky. Lots of stairs to get up to our room - there is an elevator but that only takes you to the main floor. We then had to walk up 20 steps whilst carrying our heavy luggage with us, which wasn't ideal

The staff was very helpful and kind and the room was spacious and clean. The location is great, a few minutes walk from Wien Mitte (the city airport train terminal). Also, a couple of very good restaurants within the premises.
We needed to walk quite a long distance from the front-desk to the room. The decor is a bit outdated and the room was noisy in the morning, due to service carts rolling on the tiled floors right outside. Also, a socket was installed next to only one of the two separate single beds. I understand that the Eurovision song contest was taking place in Vienna on the day we arrived, but in my view, the price was still unreasonable for what the hotel has to offer.
