The pool was nice

No fresh towels for 8 night stay, it is clearly understaffed and very noticeable. We arrived early (rang before hand and asked if we could have an early check in if available) it was 11 when we arrived and the lady on the desk said yes she would let us know when we could check in. We waited around. Didn’t end up checking in till 230pm. Which I found quite rude you could have just straight up been honest in the first place. Problems with the toilets. Could not get wifi the whole time. The poor guy working at the pool bar was running up and back with food from the restaurant whilst also making cocktails and drinks. Hats off to him. But clearly there should have been someone dropping the food down to him. It was just chaos. Spend your money elsewhere at a different hotel

i liked the location

there was no, cucumber, tomato, olives, cheese at breakfast, not alot of options of things to eat. our shampoos, teas and coffee was never replaced, no water in fridge,pool view bedroom was selected only given us a room facing the bush and couldn't see anything else, upgraded paying additional 50 but had to go upstairs this time and not on ground floor.

Resort facilities are great, pool, swim up bar and all the seating for relaxing. Breakfast was delicious. The bar and restaurant for dinner had a nice laid-back vibe. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Rooms were spacious enough and clean, with nice products provided.

Mattress's on the beds are terrible. We asked to move rooms because the bed was shocking, lovely guy tried his hardest to find us a better bed, but the next room wasn't much better. Mattresses are extremely soft and had hollows on both sides.

Been to Oaks before. The day we arrived it was teeming with rain. The receptionist was very helpful and found us a room adjacent to a carpark. My partner was soaked to the skin unpacking the car. The unit was great and the beds really comfortable. Will return to the Oaks next time in Port Douglas.

We loved the pool area and pool bar etc. love how it’s easy to get to town

Our balcony wasn’t able to be used as there was a bunch of flies nesting inside the balcony frame (was all rusted) I have videos if needed. On the last night we were offered to change rooms but we were leaving the next day and my wife didn’t want to pack up our things to move so just stayed. The long pool with the jets too when we put it on the area filled with dirty mud water. Also got a photo of that which I found very gross we got out immediately. Besides this we love this place. Second time we stayed here just a could of things wrong this time

Booked the Oaks as advertised as having EV charging. 2 chargers on site but appears neither have worked for 6 months. The receptionist advised there were chargers at Sheridan but these are only available to guests of the Sheridan. Made for a challenging trip. Room was clean but dated and oddly smelled like stale smoke, though the bed was comfy enough. Would have stayed at any number of alternate accommodation if I had known the EV chargers were long dead. They did provide 2 drinks vouchers in apology for the hotel bar but this was closed by the time I got back from charging elsewhere.

The pool was a really good size, it wasn’t very busy when we were there so when we used the pool and the swim up bar it felt really personal but can still see it being really easy to be in the pool if it was busy! the restaurant wasn’t expensive and the food was amazing. the facilities in our room were everything we needed. very easy to navigate around.

Looks lovely at first, but pool area run down. Swim up bar not opened. Stayed within 12yo son. Weekend get away. Could not book bottomless brunch because not enough people had booked (on a Saturday) Couldn’t swim in most of pool after 6pm because of a performance. Hoped watching performance would compensate. It did not. Returned to room to watch movie. Basic TV. Couldn’t cast. Wifi doesn’t work in room… couldn’t use laptop. Nothing they could do. Out of modems (that they offer because it’s a regular issue) Cancelled remaining night. Some staff were nice. Refunded $30. Staying closer to town now. So much better I’ve booked a longer stay in Port.

Disappointing Experience – Wouldn’t Recommend Our stay at Oaks Resort Port Douglas was a major letdown. The staff were consistently unhelpful and unfriendly, which really set the tone for the entire visit. The facilities were far from clean — common areas felt neglected and our room wasn’t properly serviced. Despite being advertised, there was no functioning WiFi throughout our stay. On top of that, the on-site restaurant closed far too early, making it incredibly difficult to get food at reasonable times. For the price and the expectations we had, this was incredibly disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Positives - The resort has a great pool social area; rooms are clean and good size. Staff were accommodating and approachable. The pool bar closed at 3 pm both days we were there although we were told it would stay open if there were enough people. There were plenty of people. The sign on the bar said the other bar would be available at 5 pm both days - so we couldn’t get anything to drink for 2 hours. The other thing that we felt let down by, was the meal in the restaurant. We ordered a pizza and it clearly a frozen one, like cardboard and didn’t taste good. We didn’t make the same mistake the following night.

- We were gifted a bottle of wine i wasn't expecting - The pool is large and warm. It was the best part of the resort

The place is not bad, but there are so many bad/disappointing things about it. For the price you pay to stay there, you dont get anything but a roof a over your head. There is so much you will have to pay extra for. • There is an outdoor bar which doesnt even open in the day. I was there on Anzac Day, and went up at 3pm to have a beer and watch the AFL Anzac Day game, and it was closed. I asked reception if they can turn the TV in there, since anyone can still go and sit in there, and their entire response was 'No'. They had no interest in allowing a paying customer to use their vacant television which is right in front of their 24 hour available seating • I found out on the morning of check out that the 32 inch room TV's had foxtel. I had my media player plugged in the entire time. Would have been nice for reception to tell me when I asked about the footy • I paid $35 per person, per day for the Breakfast Buffet, and they charged $7.58 for real machine coffee. It is not included in the buffet • You can BYO anything to your room, but if you want to eat/drink at the pool you have to buy from the pool bar • They claim "WiFi is available in the rooms and is free of charge", but when you check in, they tell you the wifi is only strong enough to reach the front of the resorts. There is no wifi in the rooms. It also doesn't work trying to connect to it at all Rooms • The room TVs are 32 inch. Hard to see from sitting on the bed(only option). Im really not sure what we're paying for here, or what they're doing with their money. • There are no chairs in the room we had. Only the outdoor 2 chairs and small table • The beds are pretty hard and caused my great pain when sleeping in certain positions.

Apartments could do with some furnishings/comforts eg styling pillows, artwork .... also, doors to balconies need fly wires, would be great to leave the doors open and let some fresh air in ... but couldn't due to mozzies and midges Breakfast was 'basic', and lacking taste ... a bit of a let down on what we have had on previous stays ... Bar staff at pool were hard to find at times, often leaving unattended for extended breaks

Check in with Rhiann at the front desk was a delight in her welcome and assistance. Lovely sitting on the balcony overlooking the pool (but see comments about the room itself).

Shabby room without character. The warning sign was the peeling paint on the door, followed by the stained and worn carpet in the featureless room. The furniture was chipped. The only room I have ever stayed in - that I recall - that had no decoration of any type on the wall. A loud exhaust fan ran in the bathroom: there was no way to turn it off, but we discovered it was on a timer set to turn off at 9 pm, and turn on at 7 am. The 7 am fan was a Sunday morning wake up call that we could have done without. We found the responsiveness to issues that we raised to be mixed: Rhiann was hospitable and empathetic; Gini, the front desk manager, not so much.

Came back after honeymoon visit many years ago so good to see again. We didn't have breakfast at the venue. We received follow up care after the room wasn't ready on arrival- fruit platter and wine and call from the manager (via reception staff) the next day.

The place is tired and very basic in terms of furniture and room styling. The pool is shallow and mostly suited to young children. Our room wasn't ready at 3pm and the staff simply said- I can't do anything- I'll ring you when it is ready. Gave us another room but walked in on a man resting on the couch. Whilst there were efforts to make up for our first impressions I would not stay here again.

We loved the pool!!

We stayed in room 3005 and it smelled so badly of mold and damp. We would have liked to open the sliding doors to allow for fresh air but there are no fly screens. The bathroom floor and towels never dried due to lack of air circulation, despite having the fans and air con on. My suggestion is to install fly screens so that fresh air can be circulated to allow for the damp to dry and the smell to leave. The porta-cot mattress was so hard - we had to add two folded blankets to make it possible for our toddler to sleep on it. Every time our room was serviced, they didn't supply enough towels - there were 3 people staying in the room and they only left two bath towels every time, instead of 3. It was very frustrating. We also had to specifically request more toilet paper, more dishwashing detergent and more laundry powder, as these items were never replaced. The floor was never swept and there was no broom supplied in the room - we had to ask for this so that we could sweep the floor ourselves. We were staying for 7 nights - therefore it is important to clean the floor or provide a broom for guests to clean it themselves. We found the restaurant dinner menu expensive and of poor quality. The breakfast buffet was lovely though.

Pool was fantastic with plenty of room to enjoy a swim or just relax in the Spa, swim up bar was a bonus, we had a view from our room to the pool and being on the bottom floor we had easy access, there was plenty of Lounges to relax on and enjoy the beautiful surrounds and the perfect weather.

Everything about the Oaks Resort was fantastic not one thing to complain about.

The pool was fantastic, and the Zumba classes were great. I really appreciated how well connected and close the hotel was to the main Port Douglas CBD. The apartment was very clean, with no mosquitoes or ants. Overall, the service was excellent.

We had a very bad experience from beginning to end at the Oaks 4* Resort Port Douglas. The problems started before we even arrived. We had booked a shuttle bus four months in advance, yet when we landed at the airport there was no shuttle waiting for us. After calling the resort, we were told it would arrive in an hour. We couldn’t wait that long, so we ordered an Uber — and despite not using the shuttle, we received no refund. When we arrived, things only got worse. The restaurant wasn’t open, and the only food option available was pizza, which had to be ordered through reception. We waited 45 minutes, only to find out the restaurant never received our order. We had to go back to reception and order again, and still received no apology. The service at reception was consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. We were then given room keys that didn’t work, which meant yet another trip back to reception. The room itself was far below the standard expected of a 4-star resort. Although they claimed housekeeping was daily, the beds were only changed once a week. Housekeeping only replaced towels — and one of them was dirty. The room had dirty doors, dust on the lamps, and even a cockroach in the bathroom. Photo's attached after housekeeping Noise levels were terrible. Our room had an interconnecting door, and we could clearly hear our neighbour — including a woman screaming and having loud conversations. From upstairs, we constantly heard heavy footsteps. Sleeping was nearly impossible. Because of all these issues, we decided to leave 4 days earlier, but the resort still refused to offer any refund despite the poor service and unacceptable conditions. To make matters worse, the resort does not have gym facilities, which is surprising for a place marketed as a 4-star resort. The only positive thing I can say is that the swimming pool was nice. The location is also very far from everything, which added even more inconvenience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone!

The hotel features a great pool/pool bar area surrounded by beautifully maintained plantations. Guests should note that there are no elevators available to access higher floors, so the staff is readily available to assist with handling luggage to the rooms.

During our recent stay, we encountered several challenges with the check-in process and the uniformity of the accommodations. Initially, the keys to our assigned rooms did not work. After a series of room changes, we were given another room, but it had issues with leaking air conditioning. Ultimately, we were moved again to a different room, which was quite exhausting. We noticed that despite all the rooms being priced similarly, the facilities and amenities varied significantly, which was disappointing. We had hoped for more consistency in our experience. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were quite limited and repetitive. In comparison to other hotels we have visited, where chefs typically provide a variety of options to enhance the menu, this hotel did not offer the same level of diversity. Overall, these factors impacted our ability to relax during our stay.
