Evelina Palace Hotel - Bansko

Located in a charming area of Bansko, on the west bank of the Glazne River, Hotel Evelina Palace is on the main road to the ski elevator and only 328 feet from the city center. Free shuttle transport to the ski elevator is offered. The property is built in traditional Bulgarian style and equipped with furniture and facilities that create a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

The restaurant of the Evelina serves Mediterranean-style sea delicacies and characteristic Bulgarian cuisine from Bansko. It has a relaxing atmosphere. The sports bar offers many different cocktails while showing sports channels, and the small tennis table can be enjoyed with friends.

The lobby bar provides wireless internet and serves coffee and a rich offer of cocktails and other drinks. Very nice painting and nice design in the lobby. Quick check in and check out. Very good offer for a reasonable price after all!

The food was amasing as well as the cook. Everithing we order for dinner was very delicious, fresh, prepraed at the moment and served with smile. The personell was very polite and carefull. The room was with standart size but big enough for a child and adult. The pillows can be replaced.

Overall, the hotel is quite neat. Staff is kind, the food is nice. Breakfast is an open buffet with some variety each day, but not much. Dinner is a la cart with a couple of pre-selected dishes, but nicely prepared on the spot. It`s not too close to the main city area (5-10 mins walk), but that`s great as you have more chance to get a parking slot.

WE DIDN`T HAVE HEATING MOST OF THE TIME!!! I don`t think I ever asked any hotel if they had heating in rooms, that`s just something that is considered a common sense. From the moment we arrived, we had to constantly complain about the heating, because the hotel was turning the heating on only for a couple of hours a day, as explained by staff. We got a couple of excuses, like that they turn the heating only when guests are back from the slopes, then another one was that it`s being turned on at 17h etc. They even brought an electric heater to our room, but that was not enough as the room was quite big, 80m2. What`s the point of having a spa, when you can`t use it as your kids might get fewer and ruin the holiday? When I finally snapped the day before last, and yelled at that poor man behind the desk, they turned on the heating and didn`t turn it off until we`ve left, meaning that they were really saving on the bill, and didn`t have problems of any sort with the system.

In general the hotel was ok. The location and the transport to the gondola was accurate and really helpful and the bus drivers nice and helpful. Also the facilities were ok, sauna and pool .the breakfast very satisfying. It's quite good regarding its the price but the most important is the mood and the behavior of the personnel who weren't that kind.

What is missing from the living room /common area of the hotel is a friendly place for people to hang out and relax after all day near the fireplace (we had to move every time tables and sofas near the fireplace and of course every time we felt judged by the stuff who looked at us weirdly (Of course we put them back again in their position before go to bed) Also, regarding the rooms, it s my first time that the room doesn't have a trash bin apart from the WC bin, as a result we kept our trash on a table for the maids to take them and they didn't. Also the hotel stuff at the reception and the breakfast apart from some exceptions, there were not so kind and smiley. And this is very important to make your guest feel comfortable and have fun.

The size of the room was ok as was the location.

The first thing that happened on arrival was that the receptionist wanted cash for parking at the hotel. This hotel does not accept card payment. However, the was no room in the car park. I was told the parking charge covered parking elsewhere in the resort. This turned out to be untrue. There was no need to park in the hotel car park as there was free on road parking. The breakfast is poor quality, was cold and lacked choice. It was not 4star level. The swimming pool is a danger with broken and loose tiles. The bottom of the pool was falling apart. Whilst in the pool, I stood on 7 small glass mosaic tiles that had come away. Parts of the side walls were crumbling. The tiles surrounding the pool are not non slip. The water was murky. The ceiling had large areas of black mould staining. Broken equipment with jagged metal edges were left beside the pool. The sauna is worn out and stained. The gym equipment is falling apart with one piece of equipment held together with wide tape. The benches' cushioning is split in various places. The whole hotel is in need of redecoration. There is dark staining on the walls above every radiator, which are also peeling. The chrome effect on the plastic shower head is flaking in the hand. The shower was leaking. The bar was hardly ever open. The lobby bar was never open, despite a sign giving its opening hours. This is not a place for 'Apres Ski'. The public area seating is worn, the cushioning out of shape and dirty. Overall this is the worst hotel I have stayed in and deserves none of its 4 stars. We left the hotel and booked into a proper well maintained 4 star for the same price. This begs the question - what is this hotel spending its money on? Certainly not on its upkeep. I hazard a guess it's on overheating the rooms, with no means of turning it down other than opening a window to allow some of the sub zero external temperature to cool it down.

The location of the hotel is really good, as it is a walking distance from the town centre. When it comes to parking, the hotel offers the option to park in their back garden, or across the street at the paid zone, both of which are 15bgn per day. If you don't feel like paying, there are free parking spaces in about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful. Our room (4 guests) had two double beds and a sofa. The furniture was really comfortable. The rooms and the hotel as a whole are really warm, so you don't have to worry about feeling cold exiting the pool, or any of the spa activities they offer. We also had a TV in our room, which was working perfectly. There was a small balcony as well. The staff had provided enough towels and bath robes for everyone. The food in the restaurant was amazing. We were especially impressed with the options they had for dinner, as everything was cooked wonderfully. We only had the time to check out the pool, but we were really happy with it, too. The room was warm and comfortable, but keep in mind that the water is warm too, but not hot tub warm. If you don't swim around you will definitely get cold. If you do move however it is really comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and polite and they made us feel really welcomed. Overall, I would absolutely recommend staying at Evelina Palace!

There are only two really small things to share. 1. Our room was clean and everything was nice, however the bathroom looked like it could have used a deeper clean. By all means it wasn't dirty, but there were a few spots left here and there. 2. Although amazing, the restaurant didn't have perfect ventilation, so when you are there there is a slight chance of your clothes ending up smelling like cooked food. On the upside the hotel does offer laundry services!

It was lovely and cosy and warm. It had lovely views from the balcony of the garden and distant snow capped mountains.The restaurant was nice and good value and the breakfast good. It was also not too far from the Central Bus station .Staff were very good.

I have limited mobility and the two sets of two stairs were a bit tricky but I managed them. But it was an overnight stay. We would go again as there was a lift for some of the internal interior,just not all.

Well placed and easy to find. Situated in down town is a pleasure to walk around. There is Spa zona inside with a big swimming pool. Also bakeries around. I enjoyed homemade from “the French guy bakery”, really tasty baguettes and croissants from sourdough ..

Charged parking (Blue zone), but 6-7 minutes walking distance is a free parking slot. Anyway, hotel offers free shuttle to ski zona.

The lady at the reception and the lady in the restaurant were so so nice and accomodated all our requests. I forgot my book at home and the lady at the reception (sorry, I forgot her name) even brought her own books to give me to choose from. Because everyone was skiing, I was very lucky to use the swimming pool for myself. Breakfast was tasty and had homemade banitsa and french toast if you went early enough in the morning. They also had a small fireplace which they lit in the evening as we went in february and was cold, so you can sit next to the fireplace and read a book or just chat with a glass of wine.

The rooms and bathrooms look old and poorly maintained. Same as the pool area. There is no cleaning service, the staff only takes out the trash and brings extra toilet paper. Definitely not a 4* or even 3* hotel.

The pool and sauna

The breakfast was limited with cheap products, the bed was very uncpnfortable, very old sheets, in the room was very cold, we had to sleep with our huddies on.

Good location. Warm room. The staff is friendly except the lady on the reception. Nice fireplace.

The food wasn’t good enough almost the same every day and was very poor quality and boring presentation. Mattresses are not comfortable and upper one is moving around giving the feeling you will fall down from the bed. The pool is not usable because the water is too cold and that was big disappointment. The receptionist claimed the water is 28 degrees but it was maximum 20 degrees at best. Most of the gym equipment was broken.

The hotel has a ski room, shuttle bus to/from gondola, paid parking (15 BGN/day), a nice reception area where you can gather in the evenings next to a fireplace. The rooms are ok, we had plenty of hot water and heating. The staff is nice and helpful.

The hotel (rooms, breakfast area, hallways) are very old and have not been refurbished in years. However, the pool area is the most disappointing of all of them - the water is cold, the ceiling is moldy and looks horrible. We tried it once and we never came back. The sauna door doesn't close properly. The breakfast is the same every day, which might be a problem for some, my main problem was the coffee. They are still using instant coffee, i do not understand why. They need to invest a lot of money in the hotel to make it a 4 star hotel as they say it is. It might be good to start with a new coffee maker :) there is actually an espresso machine in the breakfast area, but this coffee is not included, it's extra :(

The room had one window that was not properly closing, on the first night it was cold, the temperature was ok on the rest of the days. The wifi was not working in the rooms. The food was ok and it was good to have daily transport to the slope. The price was higher than what was offered.
