We loved the Tropicana, it is dated but that provides a lot of the charm and it was clean and not cluttered. It's in a great area of Vancouver. The staff were extremely friendly, chatty and helpful.

We came to Vancouver for a concert. The location of Tropicana is unrivalled — right in the heart of the west end. We could see English Bay and Coal Harbour from our balcony. There was a well stocked kitchenette, but Timmies and Subway are both a stones throw away. Rogers centre was a 15 minute walk. Dozens of restaurants around.

Couldn’t locate a grocery store near by. The internet was a bit slow.

Location was ok

Room was filthy. Spatter stains on the ceiling and wall. Looked like blood but who knows. Silverfish bug in the tub. Cupboard and heat register battered and broken. When I brought this to the front desk they said "It's an old place." and offered no sympathy or remedy. Does that mean old places don't get fixes or cleaned? Will not stay there again.

The location is excellent, the front desk was very friendly, and the bed was comfortable. The unit is more like an apartment with separate living and bedroom, with a full kitchen though with minimal cooking utensils. It did at least have a microwave.

The hot water was turned off for our first day, for maintenance. When the water came back on, it was hot but the shower was totally unusable - we had to use the tub.

Staff were nice. Housekeeping was okay. The kitchen had a single pot, with functioning stove and fridge, but wish it had more cooking utensils (eg spatula) and basics like salt & pepper. Bed was comfy. Amazing view from 9th floor. Location is close to everything downtown.

Upon check-in, the full amount of the bill was charged to credit card. I was told it would be a pre-authorization but that was not the case. This did not give me the option to pay via debit. Very unhappy about that.

CARLOS was a great guy and very helpful DOUG was very pleasant too The girl at Reception could do with training in Hospitality - not at all friendly or helpful. The view from 12th floor was exceptional.

The furniture curtains and kitchen facilities were broken, old and not inviting. Needs a lot of repair. We should have been paid to stay there - not a 2 STAR based on other great places I've stayed with 2 star rating.
