Resort La Ginabelle - Zermatt

La Ginabelle ist just a 5-minute walk from the Zermatt Train Station and a 1-minute walk from the cable cars. It offers culinary specialties, and a large spa area including an outdoor pool with a constant water temperature of 34ยฐC. Free WiFi is available in the entire hotel.

There is also a kid's club for the little ones. The gourmet cuisine of the Ginabelle is well-known in Zermatt. During winter season, guests can also enjoy an afternoon coffee or tea with a home-made cake for free.

I was not received by the hotel's free car to the train station upon entry, so I had to walk to the hotel. Note that I send a message to the residence with the arrival date The receptionist did not give me an upgrade to the other building worth 88 euros. She made it for me with the deposit invoice, as I objected to that. The bathroom fan is noisy.

Property is well located, close to town very clean and modern rooms. Great sized balcony and the bed was really comfortable! Breakfast was great selection wise and the Melted restaurant was delicious!! The spa and amenities were incredible, so much space and choice in the spa. The staff we spoke to were also really great. Everyone was very helpful and wanted to make sure everyoneโ€™s stay was perfect.

The rooms were a little too warm for our liking. Even with the heating off and window open it was still very warm- this may just be personal preference though as we do prefer it a bit cooler. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once but it felt a little frantic. Staff were lovely but our drinks order got a bit confused between different people. Not a big issue but it definitely felt like they were a bit tight staffing wise.

Everything was great. I can highly recommend this place. The location was great, the staff were amazing and very friendly, the food was really good. I would definitely book this hotel again when we visit Zermatt next time.

There was only one tiny discomfort. On the last day, we woke up early in the morning for someone was knocking on the door and asking us when we would check out, so the person could clean the room. Which is understandable, but the check out was until 11 and we had plenty of time.

spa facilities with the outside heated pools and jacuzzi is amazing; cleaning was very good and staff was polite ; breakfast also good; I had a balcony , but the view was on the back side.

I've got the single room with a view on the street 1st floor ; the room was crowded with all kind of furniture: for a small room you dont need to have a big table, a desk, an arm-chair plus the wardrobe . Mattress and pillow a bit uncomfortable for my back, but I survived 4 days ; The hotel pretend to be a 4 stars hotel ( and maybe they are for other type of rooms) , but for the room I've paid ( single room with balcony) I've got the worst bathroom ever : small, very dark inside with no facilities - that cant be called 4* bathroom ; you cant properly shave bcz you cant see anything . I can't even imagine how a lady can makeup in that dark bathroom :-)

The breakfast was ok, it was really weird that they assign you where you have to sit every day instead of allowing you to pick a table in a less crowded area. We sat two days next to a 10 top who was so loud and there was no one else in the dining area. We could not even talk to one another

When we told the front desk (who knew how many days we were staying in Zermatt (3) that we wanted ski passes for our family for one day they said they were able to provide ski passes and they would be more expensive the following day if we waited (which was not true). So we decided to buy 4 tickets at the front dest for the following day and we were quoted $107CSF per person. I was told when I returned the passes I would get a 5CHF refund each. The Reception asked me to add the names of my family to a blank form, which I did. They then took the form, and said the passes would be available the next morning. The form DID NOT list the dates or pass total, it was completely blank and just had spots to add our name and birthdays. We picked up the passes that morning and returned them after our day of skiing, as expected. Nobody at the desk inquired why we were turning them in after one day. When we checked out the following day we were billed for 4 passes for 4 days! Over 1500CSF! No confirmation was provided on the order, no order reciept, nothing... We asked for 1-day passes, and the hotel made an error requesting 4 day pass instead of 4 passes for the day. This is a simple mistake, but it was the hotels mistake not ours. We have gone around and around with the office manager, Angela who as been quite nasty about this situation. She has INSISTED we ORDERED 4-4 day passes. (we were in Zermatt 3 nights and they knew we were leaving early in the morning out of Zermatt). To make matters worse, Angela, the office manager who submitted the form incorrectly has made us go around and around trying to get a refund. They demanded we take the review down in order to get our money back. It has been three weeks and no refund back on our credit card. I also warn whoever is booking at this place that an "Apartment' is not an "Apartment". it is simply two efficiency rooms that are connecting.

First of all - the staff, these guys and girls are really making this place special. Service is top quality. Another good things - SPA area, outside pool, nice saunas, relaxing areas. Very good hotel's location, just few steps form the ski lift + from the bus stop which takes to yet another ski lift. Breakfast - one of the best I had, there is everything you can think of.. just great, really liked the reserved table which did not change for the whole stay.

No fitness area? that was surprising and bit disapointing.

The room and the bathroom was very clean and the restaurant service (both breakfast and dinner) was excellent. The staff was helpful and kind, and we liked that the owner of the Hotel paid attetion to every table in the restaurant and kindly inquired about the satisfaction of the guests.

Everything was fine about the hotel, however there were problems with the booking made on the website of the "Booiking.com", which should be better to write directly by e-mail (of course if it's possible) and don't post it on a public platform.

Everything from the breakfast through to dinner, the food was exquisite. Some of the best food me and my partner had whilst staying in Zermatt. But I really have to mention the service at Ginabelle. We were so impressed with Resort La Ginabelle!! We went for a ski holiday and couldnโ€™t recommend this place more. The location is perfect, close to town and the ski lifts. The facilities are excellent, the resort has everything you need: great views, lovely spa areas, great restaurants, wonderful piano bar with excellent music and the staff were always so warm and accommodating. We were blown away!

Thicker pillows is my only suggestion.

The location is perfect, close by the main train station and a quick walk or bus ride to a number of ski lifts. The breakfast was delicious. The sauna and pools were nice to relax in after a long day of skiing. Staff were very friendly and professional.

The room got very warm at night. Even setting the max temperature on thermostat to 21 degrees C, the temperature would climb to 23 or 24 degrees at night which made it very hard to get a good nights rest.

Unfortunately we had building activities taking place when we were there so our balcony which had a view of the Matterhorn was not fully usable. Even with the doots closed the noise was still significant. This was just unfortunate and no fault of the hotel.

Everything. Location was close to station. There are few spa I could use. It was perfect after hiking then straight to spa... what a wonderful way to finish the day. And view from room was spectacular. Clear Matterhorn view from room is speechless.. Then breakfast was so good!! All Staff were friendly and nice.. I will definitely come back.

At first day I told the staff that my door internal lock was broken ( which means I could not lock the door from inside) And then the lady replied unfriendly โ€œ why do you need to lock the door? You know itโ€™s not allowed to lock the door from inside in case thereโ€™s a fireโ€ I was like โ€œthen why did you design the lock?โ€ And after few rounds of conversation like this she agreed to change my room. And she asked her colleague to check if the lock is well function in the new room, and the result was not. So I asked if we can pay more to update the room. She asked her colleague to check and the lock was not functioning either. So for me this means: 1. The staff was not trained well. First of all she didnโ€™t try to solve the issue and even told bullshilt such as โ€œitโ€™s not allowed to lock door from insideโ€ I didnโ€™t remember the name of the lady but I remember how she looked. She wore a pair of black frame glasses. With straight dark long hair. 2. They seem to know that there are many lock was not functional but just leave it as it is. Otherwise she wonโ€™t ask her colleague to double check the lock for other rooms. And as a matter of fact there were at least 3 rooms with broken lock.

Everything. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous, very clean and comfortable. The spas are wonderful and so relaxing. We loved the breakfast - it was top notch. Finally, the staff were very nice and helpful. We did not want to leave.

The pillows were a bit flat for my preference but you can ask for different pillows if you like.

La Ginabelle is (was??) a very beautiful new property/spa right next to the river (more on that later). High end fitments and fixtures throughout. The food is excellent, as are all of the staff (again, later). Very close to the railroad station, and easy walking distance to everything (Zermatt is a very small village). The owner of this family business asks every guest if everything is going well, and is very hands on. BUT we were in Zermatt for one night only (6/20/24), and that was the night the rains came...and came...and then melted the snow on the peaks. Zermatt suffered a terrible flood, there has been great damage to the village and many beautiful properties that were close to the river. In the morning the river had swollen to overflowing and most of the bridges had already been closed. The staff worked very hard to get all of the guests to the rail station before all trains and roads were closed. i think we were on the last train out, literally. The owners and staff were very concerned for the safety of the guests, and did an amazing job of getting everyone out. When La Ginabelle reopens, PLEASE stay there. The property is beautiful, and the staff really are wonderful.

Nothing the management had any control over! The prices were Swiss-normal (what we think of as high to very-high for everything including the water), but we are a budget-minded family so that was on us.

Staff seemed new and didn't have all the information, it was a little chaotic. They were friendly but a few things missed that made the stay harder than it needed to be ( e.g. no wifi password given, place settings missing cutlery, staff member got lost trying to show me my room). Door handle also fell off in my room, and there was no way to turn the heating down.

Hotel is located in the heart of Zermatt. Our room was very spacious and conformable with great view to Matterhorn. Very lovely and friendly staff that assisted us in our stay. Spotless clean room service. Excellent choices for breakfast with omelettes chef. Shuttle drive from/to the train station on our snowy arrival was very appreciated.

Some renovations where still ongoing in the hotel entrance. Outside pool often felt small and a bit overcrowded during afternoon hours. We tried main restaurant for dinner once but the options where not much to into our liking on the specific day.

Breakfast was excellent, there was an extensive variety of foods for different diets. They made us fresh eggs the way we wanted every morning at their live egg station. The rooms were clean, staff were friendly and accommodating. I requested a room change and they changed it the next day. The kids club was the best part!! It's included in your stay! My husband and I got to spend some quality time together knowing our kids were safe at the kids club.

Although we could not check in early, we were able to leave our luggage at the desk to explore the city. Once we were able to check in officially our bags were placed in our rooms. We were also given an upgraded room from booking which was such a lovely surprise. The hotel was close to the train station, but the hotel does offer a small taxi to come pick you and can drop you off. We enjoyed the selection at breakfast. There was a juicing station and a chef to prepare eggs for you. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed having storage for our bags so they didn't always have to be on the ground. We also appreciated that the TVs home screen had an option that displayed local weather and webcams to destinations. It helped with our plans!

The room can feel slightly stuffy. I do feel this is an unfair judgement since I am an American and use to AC. I will say opening the door for circulation did help.

Me and my daughter had the mlst amazing holiday and stay in your hotel. We enjoyed facilities, the pool, the soa and the mlst of all kids club. The staff was always hospitable, cheerful, happy, friendly with kids and helpful. We loved the view from lur room and the location which is very close to the ski lift that takes to the ski school at the Sunnegga and near to the train station. While my daughter had a blast in the kids club, I could enjoy live piano tunes and a drink at the bar. Fantastic memories. We wilk for sure be back.

Hotel made false promises of one-night credit. Front desk supervisor agreed that credit was to be valid through 2026 (to allow for my wife to recover from a bad injury before returning to Zermatt). However, after we left in order to take care of a medical emergency, the hotel unilaterally changed the terms and validity of the credit through end of 2025. Disappointing and unacceptable that an agreement made in person (and confirmed in person) was not honored.

We were informed upon arrival that we had been upgraded. Oh my goodness! So amazing! We could see the Matterhorn from our room! We were in Europe for 3 weeks and this was most definitely our favorite room of all of them. The restaurant staff was so nice, walking us through a "fondue Chinoise" (meat cooked in broth at the table). It was a very fun experience. The pools were phenomenol! Highly recommend a spa treatment as well.

We had a spectacular stay at Resort La Ginabelle. The facilities are top notch. Our room was modern, clean, decorated beautifully and had a balcony view of the Matterhorn. We loved having the pools, saunas and steam room to come back to every day after hiking and we organized our days to have extra time at the resort. There are so many options at breakfast including cooked to order omelets, local honeycomb, an amazing array of teas, a juice room where you could squeeze your own blend - definitely a stand out. Staff was very friendly with the bartender (from Italy-sorry I donโ€™t remember his name) front desk, breakfast staff and massage therapist being standouts.

This family-run hotel features a world-class, three-level modern spa with several pools and numerous saunas โ€” even a cold plunge right after the sauna, which is absolutely amazing. I also tried a massage, and the therapist was exceptionally professional and attentive. The breakfast is phenomenal, with a made-to-order omelet station and a juice bar where you can create your own fresh, healthy juices. The restaurant manager, Philip, has a natural gift for making guests feel instantly welcome and comfortable, whether at breakfast or dinner. Heโ€™s attentive, professional, and brings genuine warmth to every interaction.Iโ€™d also like to mention Matthias, the hotel director, who handled every request with such ease and attention. You can truly feel that he leads by example โ€” the entire team reflects the same spirit of dedication, warmth, and genuine hospitality.

Small suggestion: replace the Lipton tea bags in the room with something more local or artisanal that reflects the unique Zermatt character โ€” it would be a lovely finishing touch to an otherwise perfect stay.
