We stayed in the attic room which was large and very comfortable with a great view to the castle. The location was excellent being so close to the old bridge, and within old town. The food at the hotel was also excellent with a modest but more than adequate breakfast in traditional surroundings. A lift to the third level helped to minimise the climb to the attic room on the fourth floor.
There wasn't anything we didn't like, but the stairs to the fourth floor could pose a problem for people with mobility issues.

we stayed in the apartment, and it was better than the pictures showed. The hotel is on a busy street, but the apartment is at the back of the hotel and perfectly quiet. there are views of a quiet courtyard, lots of quaint houses, and the castle.
The room was big with lots of windows, air con and fan. The bed was comfy and there were plenty if lighting options. There was a fridge and kettle, but no cooking facilities- but plenty of dining out options. The outdoor terrace was lovely, we sat out there for a drink every afternoon.
The only slight setback was that light leaked into the room at night because there were no block out blinds. however this was easily remedied with an eye mask and we slept very soundly.

Comes with the territory of being on one of the busiest streets. If you're in a room facing the street it will be very noisy. They provide earplugs. Rooms could be updated but are cozy.

Everything was really good: the staff is super nice and professional, the room was really cute, welcoming, comfortable and tidy; we ate twice at the restaurant for dinner and we had breakfast twice: the service is impeccable and the food really good.

The location of this hotel is perfect, and the hospitality couldn't have been better. While the rooms are fairly basic, they are larger than most and exceptionally clean (and who doesn't love Haribo gummies on your pillow?). We stayed two nights for the Christmas markets and appreciated the central location as we could stop by to drop packages or take a quick break from the cold. We also ate in the restaurant one night, and it was one of the best meals of our trip. Don't hesitate to put this small hotel on your reservation list.

This is a fantastic hotel, it is located perfectly in the old town; near restaurants, shops, cultural locations and the castle. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I loved the location and Dennis who worked at the hotel. He was so friendly and helpful. Parking was a little bit away but an easy walk and they gave us a great discount as guests of the hotel. Very central to old town, staff very helpful and professional. Room very comfortable and spacious. Very nice welcoming touch of a half bottle of red wine. The restaurant was very popular although we only had breakfast.
Nothing. It is a very good place to stay in the off-season but given itโs located on a street with lots of bars and restaurants the rooms facing the street would be noisy due to outdoor eating and drinking over the summer, so if youโre sensitive to noise suggest asking for a room at the back.

The hotel is located in a fantastic area. Its close to restaurants, shops, coffee shops and the castle. Dinner was delicious one night in the hotel. The rooms were cute with a traditional german appeal. The staff was also wonderful!

Very well located with places of interest within walking distance. Comfortable bed, good size room ( the photos understated the room) with an alcove and a working space. Nice touches like a bowl of fruit in the lobby & quirky detail in the restaurant. We were a little concerned when we saw ear plugs on our night stands but we never found it that noisy.

Honestly, I can't really think of anything. If I had to nitpick, I would tell people that you may have to do a bag drag through the marktplatz from where you park if you arrive during a busy time like we did, but some of that should be expected if tying to stay downtown in a busy touristy German City.

My expectations were high based on previous reviewsโand I was still thoroughly charmed by our stay at this lovely family-run hotel.
There were three of us, but the room was more than spacious enough for us and all our luggage. I especially appreciated the entry room before the main sleeping area, where we could store jackets and shoes. It also housed the bathroom door, which meant nighttime bathroom trips didnโt disturb the rest of usโunlike other triple rooms we stayed in.
The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. I had been concerned about potential street noise, but was amazed at how completely the sound disappeared once the windows were closed. The AC kept the muggy nights perfectly comfortable.
The room included a small refrigerator (tucked inside the desk cabinet) and thoughtful touches like complimentary wine, water, gummy bears, and earplugs. Iโm a light sleeper and didnโt even need the earplugs!
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurantโboth meals were delicious and absolutely worth it. The hotel is right in the heart of the old town, with the Old Bridge visible from our window.
The staff were a true delightโhelpful, kind, and a pleasure to interact with throughout our stay.

There was no onsite parking. There could have been a better description as to how to locate and acess the adjacent public parking garage. The public parking was, however, well located and the location provided great acess to the Heidlburg Castle.

We enjoyed our stay at Hackteufel. The staff was freindly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and had everything we wanted. We had lunch and dinner at their restaurant. It was delicious. The location was around the corner from the Christmas market and the main shopping street. We highly recommend staying here.

Canโt get more perfect location, right in the heart of the historic district, close to all, restaurant one of the finest in town, staff (shout out to Dennis, awesome dude!) was the best, only minor complaint would be the tiny bathroom and foul odor whenever flushing the toilet, but everything else was outstanding. Very traditional German style hotel and restaurant.
