First of all, it seemed like a tug of war between booking.com and hotel management. Each party is referring to the other one when I am asking for a refund for the last day check-out. I checked out one day earlier because of the terrible back pain I got due to uncomfortable pillow . Booking.com website didn’t allow me to do early checkout and so I messaged both the night before. On top of that while checking out the reception charged me 20 euro etc for a certain tour that I never used but well, they don’t speak English so I couldn’t even explain this.

Sauna is great, staff is nice and eager to help. The apartments are great if you are staying for a longer period.
I guess you can call it schabby chic. The armchairs could use some repairs and the furniture style, while good quality, is very mixed.
Minibar seems totally out of place.

The location is great, just a short walk from the town centre, great breakfast and friendly staff. The room had a great view of the castle and are beautifully decorated with good amenities, such as tv, mini fridge, desk, wardrobe etc.
It has everything you need.
There is no air-conditioning in the room and it did get hot. So i had to keep the window open all night.
And the shower is a little difficult to properly use, as it takes a long time for the shower to be at the right temperature. But this is just a very minor inconvenience.

- No elevator service to some of the rooms
- A bit far from the center (10-15 minutes walking), but beautiful half-timbered houses along the street so it's a nice walk!

Location,friendly reception and excellent breakfast lady who made fresh croissants for us ! It was a comfortable stay.Free parking in front of the hotel too.Room was clean too.
Nothing to mention except that our room is above the breakfast restaurant,stairs to climb,no lift in hotel,so if you have heavy luggage it will be a problem. Inform the hotel that you have heavy luggage,perhaps you get a room on the ground.

Excellent location with plenty of parking space for guests. Friendly staff. The room was very clean, rustic charm but with a modern, refurbished bathroom with excellent water pressure in the shower. Nice selection of food for breakfast. Would definitely return if we ever visit Wernigerode again.

Enjoyed my couple of days at Furtenhof Hotel. A clean and comfortable Hotel near the centre of Wernigerode with free parking. The breakfast buffet was sufficient with a varied choice of foods. Friendly helpful staff too.

beautiful traditional timbered hotel with very friendly staff. We loved our room, so sunny & quiet. Bathroom is small but very comfortable and very modern. One of the nicest bathrooms since a while. Very clean. Very comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet was also plenty with a large selection and was quickly refilled by friendly staff. even the castle was visible. We loved exploring the city, so so beautiful. We’d love to return.

A charming hotel "Garni" [which I believe means breakfast but no restaurant] in an old building. It is a little way from the town centre but in a quiet area with a short walk to the stations and shops

Big parking. Beautiful building. Electric kettle in the room.
There is a noisy road next to the hotel. There were no vegetables for breakfast, like at least sliced tomato or cucumber. There is no coffee machine in the dining room, and the hotel offers only instant coffee in a thermos. The automatic check-in device did not work. There was a nest of wasps next to our room window. Tight shower cabin. The lift stops only on every other floor.

Nice hotel with a private parking and a beautiful view on the castle. Nice and polite service people.
The most uncomfortable bed i slept in years :(( The breakfast was also kind of disappointing, no vegan options, no lactose-free milk, they don’t feel in the dishes, so if you come after 10 ( the breakfast is till 11) be ready to eat whatever left.

Nice traditional building next to the castle.
The room was spacious and provided coffee and tea. The shower was tiny, no issue with me though, but it's definitely not for overweight people.
Breakfast was good; had quite a variety of stuff to choose from, and lots of options for tea lovers. The serving hall was BEAUTIFUL, giving the notion that breakfast is served inside the castle.
A bit far from the centre and even further from the train station.

The apartment was big and had everything necessary for a long stay. The hotel is located in a calm area. You can reach both city center and the castle on foot. By check-in we received two tickets which allowed us to take buses in the whole Harz region.
