I come here for a second time. The staff is very polite and nice, the room was clean, they clean every day. The location is perfect, my room had a view, i could see Gran via.
It was noisy but i think it is normal when you want to sleep in a building on Gran Via.

Very comfortable bed, wider than usual single. Room had opening window, fan, heater, side bed lamp although small in size. Would be better if wardrobe was removed to add space. Lift worked. Nice people in reception. Excellent location, right at metro, direct bus 001 to Atocha, lots of good food nearby, Arab, Chinese, Spanish.
Price very high even though it was non refundable, but it was a Saturday and Madrid is becoming unaffordable. I paid far less in January high season in Central Sydney which is well known for very high prices!

I was a bit disappointed that the receptionist showed us quickly that as non-Spanish speakers we would not get so warm treatment. This was just one guy, others were sweet.

The location
The room only had 1 plug which was originally for the tv so we couldn’t use the tv when charging our devices. The only plug was an extension that hung half way up the wall.
There was no double lock on the door so we had to put a random chair in front of the door for security. The bath was a half size which took up the room so we had to sit sideways on the toilet.
They charge €1 per use of the safe which is not refundable resulting in us having to leave our items unsecured.
The hostel is part of an old building full of other hostels and the left hardly worked. We ended up having to use the stairs most of the time and it was on the 3rd floor.

ROOM: Dark, gloomy, room, stank of (cooked) fish.
LIFT: Tiny, for 9 floors, several hostals, long waits.
RECEPTIONIST: Unpleasant interaction with a condescending, argumentative, obnoxious man on reception (the other two receptionists were pleasant and polite). I felt intimidated, disrespected, almost harassed! Somehow, I feel he would not have behaved like that if I had been a man. Indeed, I was reminded of Donald Trump.

The rooms were big, clean and came with a large toilet. Requested for 2 single beds and they delivered. Beds were so soft and comfortable! Staff were quick and efficient when checking us in. Great stay, highly recommend!

Staff was very helpful, we were able to leave our bags before checking in and after checking out.
Overall, amazing value!
Bathroom is a bit small.
Blinds cannot be fully closed because the AC unit is blocking them (we didn't need the AC, but if you do, it will be 5€/night).
Area is a bit noisy, but not really the Hostel's fault. Noise isolation is not bad but not amazing either, though.
Not really sure why, but we had to give/take the room's access card everytime we left the Hostel. The reception was open 24/7 though.
