So well designed and was very easy to get in and out. Gardens and grounds of the hotel immaculate , and beach bar great value. Evening entertainment pretty good too. Great variety of food at breakfast, with delicious porridge and fresh juice. Location fab! Right on the seafront, with flat walk to Benalmádena and Torremolinos, and close to a beautiful park.
Room could have done with a full length mirror and bathroom lacked a toilet brush. Also, a clothes rack on the balcony would be great for drying swimwear and towels. 9am, on the dot, huge rush of sun bed hoggers hit the poolside to reserve their ‘spot’! Lots of these sun beds had long periods of being unused!

Location was quite ok, though there was no direct access to the beach. There was some nice selection of food for breakfast. Staff in general was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately my very bad experience with 2 particular individuals (SPA lady who did not speak any English and some guy - totally unfriendly and not flexible, blindly enforcing the rules) distorted my perception of the staff in this hotel.
While looking for a hotel in Costa del Sol, my main criterion was an indoor swimming pool. I was travelling with my little daughter, the weather outside was not yet very warm (early May) - I wanted to make sure that she can swim or play in the swimming pool during our holiday. So out of dozens of available hotels in the area of Malaga - I selected Amaragua - precisely because they had an indoor swimming pool, which they proudly presented on their booking.com page.
To my big disapointment, upon arrival we discovered that the swimming pool is available to kids only between 10-11 and 16-17 - so in fact the pool was not really available to kids. When we arrived to the swimming pool at around 11, we were refused to enter. To my remark that the swimming pool is empty, nobody is using it, so my 8 years old child would not disturb anyone - I was informed that she cannot swim there. I decided that in this case, I will swim and my child will wait for my at the sunbed. But then I was informed that children cannot stay in the swimming pool zone at all, what was even more ridiculous, as NOBODY WAS THERE and she was quietly sitting and watching a cartoon. All in all there was a lot of argument, raised voice, threatening me with the police, my child freaked out, cried - it was really unpleasant and very disappointing behaviour of the hotel staff.
I fully understand that the hotel can decide on such a policy, when I travel without kids, i also enjoy "adults only" zones, but this information should have been publicly available, so potential customers would make choices while knowing the limitations. Besides, rules are rules, but in a situation when nobody was in the swimming pool zone, when I offered that we would leave when "adults" arrive, I'd expect a bit more flexibility and understanding from the staff and not shouting and threatening me.

The location was just perfect . Being central in the Torremolinos area - access to the beach , shops and restaurants was ideal.
The king size bed was what we wanted but the mattress was old and needed replacement. The pillows being foam chunk filled are not comfortable. The sheets were old ( thin ) and needed replacing. A toilet scrub brush would be a good addition. The hair blower was not strong enough.
The quality of tea bags was poor and not available for the dinner buffet meal.
We would be happy to pay more in the package price to have access to packaged non alcohol ( limited selection ) beverages all day.

The lobby was lovely but promised more than it delivered in regards to the rooms. The hotel rooms are in need of refurbishment. The wall paper was peeling off. The ceiling was water stained. The WiFi was very intermittent in the room which is inexcusable in this day and age.

I feel the hotel relies far too much on its proximity to the beach rather than the comfort of its rooms.

Very poor quality for a 4* hotel with prices at 150 EUR per night for a standard double room:
1) very old rooms, which have seen much better times and desperately need renovation
2) missing basics of every 4* hotel: no kettle, no free water bottles, no coffee, very old hairdryer
3) old mattresses, not good for belly sleepers
4) huge cocroaches in the public area (bathroom in the congress area)
5) bad smells in the rooms (yes, we saw also the rooms of friends), e.g. smells like a wc from the aircon.
6) towel at the pool is provided once. Then you have to pay to change it.
7) sunbeds at the beach cost extra.

The hotel is nice. It gives me the old Vegas vibe. I love the pool, the spa, the staff and the location. Breakfast is great. Fresh omelets are always a plus. It's right by the water front with beautiful sights and close to all the bars and restaurants. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. And the spa is included without extra charges. Definitely a win.
As much as I enjoyed the spa, the jacuzzi was not up to my expectations. I wish it could be a lot warmer. The hotel room is a bit outdated. It's easy to see that there's a part of the floor in the bathroom with a constant leak. And maybe a little bit more attention from the housekeeping department. At first I found a hair on top of the toilet watertank. Didn't think much. Then I saw the edge of the bathtub was covered by dust and few hair strands of different sorts. Other than that, it was fine. Oh, maybe a luggage rack would be nice.

I thought the food was very good, I was half board, appreciate the variety of breads and cereal, good quality ingredients, yoghurts and fruits. Eggs done how you like them, they even tried to poach for me although not quite how I would do it the effort was great, it was fun and the eggs were good. Dinner offered plenty choice of better quality food rather than loads of cheap choices, suited me perfectly. Restaurant staff were great, always smiling.
My room, I’d booked a classic and expected a dated or more traditional feel, not shabby, broken chest drawers, pane of glass cracked badly on balcony which was not very clean or pleasant to sit on. No dryer for wet beach towels, no kettle ( can hire externally) I could pay 30€ per night extra to move but as I only had 4 nights I didn’t bother I also felt I paid enough already and would have appreciated a more understanding response at reception.
Spa needs a good clean too.

They run the place like it’s back in the 1900s with some inconveniences. My husband and I have traveled plenty all over the world and this place was a disappointment. For example, they run the place with everything written down on paper. Which makes it hard for tracking purposes. For example, we asked for early breakfast since we had an early flight and the staff wrote down our room number and when I went to retrieve the picnic breakfast, our room was not on there. There was a list of rooms when I watched the staff member write down our room number but in the AM, the list of room numbers were so short. Another inconvenience is having to pay Euros (you have to walk to an ATM if you don’t have cash on you) to get pool towels and you have to save the paper slip to get the Euro deposit back.
The staff were general unconcerned about the experience and generally referred to it as “it’s just the rules…and i didn’t make them.”
We’d suggest strongly avoiding this if you want to have at least a mediocre experience. This was abysmal.

I encountered a rudeness from a waiter in the buffet. Old waiter told me off for setting in a table that was not assigned for breakfast even though there was no sign to tell so. In the dinner buffet, they don’t even offer water. You have to pay for every drink, even though you paid for it.
You have to pay rental for safe box and even kettle
Then don’t put drinking water daily in the room.
The bed which was supposed to be a king size is very small, not really enough for two.
There was no blankets on the bed, just a sheet.
You need to deposit money just to get pool towels.
The internet always stops and is slow.
