- Location was great. Within walking distance from the train station AND the grand palais

- Room configuration was weird: The bed headboard was in a corner, so leaning against it to watch tv was uncomfortable; The shower exiting right next to the bed is unique

This is not a "Style" hotel as we get in the UK. However, I was aware of this once reading reviews.
The room was comfortable and warm. Plenty of towels. Large bed. However, no tea, coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is continental with lots to chose from but of you are looking for an English fry up that isn't available. Lots of different pastires, breads, toast and egg making machines. Juices, meats, cheeses, fruit, youghurt soo such a wide choice.
The hotel is in a great location for both the Eurostar and Lille itself.
The young girl on reception - I think her name was Aline - who spoke excellent English was super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
For the price I paid I have no complaints what soever.
No tea coffee making facilities in the room but I was aware of this and it wouldn't stop me booking this hotel again.

The hotel clearly needs renovation. Everything in the rooms is very worn out, and in the bathroom all the fixtures are scratched and nearing the end of their service life. The room was clean, staff were all pleasant. 15 min walk from Lille Europe station, and in a quiet neighbourhood. The breakfast was ok but some items were slow to be replaced when they ran out. The price was good.
The biggest problem is the ridiculous bed layout. Because the bed is pushed at an angle into the corner of the room, there is a large gap between the head end of the bed and the wall. They have filled this gap with a piece of hard horizontal material, and so you have nothing to lean against if you want to sit up in bed. This means it is impossible to sit comfortably and read a book, for example, anywhere in the room. This arrangement is absolutely stupid and would prevent me from ever going back.
Also, there is no light in the WC. They just rely on light from the room shining through a glass door. But at night, a curtain blocks this light.
The overall room design is very poor.

The bathroom and shower were very small and smelled.
There was no fridge, coffee/tea, or even a safe at the room.

The breakfast was very nice and convenient and the location was good.
The bathroom shower was horrible. There was mold growing all over and the shower floor was gross. The towels were also old and could be replaced. There room itself was clean but very cramped. I told the front staff that my responsibility was to pay the room and their responsibility was to provide us with a clean facility and they said they would get the shower cleaned for the next person, but they were not concerned about us. I showed them the included photos and they agreed the bathroom was in bad condition but it was an older room.
