Our second time in this hotel, now in a different family setting. You shouldn't expect too much from this hotel, it's rather cheap for this area and it is located not on the main islands. But if you want to live on the Grand Canal - you have a different budget :) For this hotel we really liked the staff, everybody was very friendly. We had mosquitos and one of the staff members gave us the anti-mosquito device, which was very helpful. Also, he noticed that every breakfast we have a "blanco" yogurt, and every time when he saw us coming, he was checking whether they still had it and was bringing it to us. Very nice of him! The hotel is located in a very calm area where mainly locals live. You still have a shop (Coop) and a few restaurants nearby. Daily commutes by the Vaporetto are a pleasure and don't bother at all. The hotel was clean and we saw cleaning staff was cleaning our room daily, also totally satisfied

The breakfast is fine if you stay 1-2 nights, but longer it gets sort of boring. Always the same cheese and yogurt. Some variations would be valuable. At the same time every breakfast, they had warm croissants, which was wonderful.

Breakfast was skimpy for a 3 star…no eggs, no fresh fruit, no choice of breads. Location is 10-15 min walk from ferry terminal and scary at night as you have to walk two long deserted “calle” (pedestrian streets) with poor lighting. There is no common indoor seating area with sofas & chairs. No chair nor luggage stand in the room. The room had a bad musty & moldy smell.

The lady that worked in the evenings. She was absolutely lovely and so helpful.

The fact that when we were checking out the owner was knocking on out door before the checkout time “reminding” us to leave in an impolite manner. At the reception when we were asked to pay the city tax, the owner tried to overcharge us. When we spoke out about different price being mentioned on their booking.com page he kept repeating that its wrong and we have to pay the bigger amount. When we did not allow him to take advantage of us he said he is not going to argue over a few euros even though he just did and we were almost pushed out of the hotel after we paid. He was extremely rude and inhospitable even before that interaction.

Since it's on the centre of the Murano island, It's quiet in the evening. The room is small but overall tidy.

Amenities: We booked the room two months in advance for 3 nights. But somehow we were put in a first floor room that doesn't let in much light and also smells. The facility is old, the bathroom is tiny with barely enough space for one person. The hot water for the shower is not stable, almost zero water pressure. Breakfast is 10 euros per person, you can get much better at any riverside caffè. Staff: My impression for the staff are also not so welcoming. I know that in Italy it is quite normal to have bad reception in the house. But since I need to check some emails in the evening, I booked this hotel after seeing in the hotel description that wifi is available. But not only did our two devices have no reception in our room, we could not find any sign of wifi signal in the room. I then told the girl at the front desk that there was no connection in our room and if she could fix the problem or switch us to another room. All she said was it is normal that wifi is slow here in Italy, and she will reset the wifi. it is definitely not my complaint about, we were not asking for high speed wifi but any connection. I had to tell her again what we need was just a connection, then finally she said no one here complain about the wifi problem before as it was me who lied. Maybe also because we look Asian, she stressed again that we are not in Asia, in Italy the wifi is slow. I was finally speechless get offended by that. When I tried to ask if there was another room to change, she immediately refused and said they were all booked. Eventually I had to give up, but when I checked booking.com after our conversation, there were apparently still some rooms that could be booked that day. Lastly, we were asked to pay City Tax of 21 euros instead of the 16.8 euros listed on the reservation - not a huge difference, but annoying!

The breakfast was good but missing eggs.

1st I had previously made a reservation for 3 nights. When we arrived it was pouring rain and we were given a room that we had to enter from the outside on 2 flights of iron stairs with a very slippery floor with the possibility of a fall, no elevator and we still carried the bags to the room which was on the second floor. 2nd After seeing the room we went down and complained that we wanted a room inside the building, as I with a problem in my knee could not go up and down those stairs every day, I was told that the hotel was full which I proved that it was not it was true when I bought one more night, i.e. I paid for the same night twice, but then they had to give me a medium room with a tiny bathroom but inside the building where I stayed for another 2 nights until check out. 3rd The staff was very unfriendly excluding the gentleman who was in support of breakfast. 4th The location was not in Venice but in Murano, it was very far from the boat and difficult to access with suitcases due to the floor, I ended up breaking a wheel on the suitcase. I do not recommend this hotel at all, as all the standard rooms, according to the information provided by the reception, are on the outside of the building by the famous iron staircase and we pass through the breakfast room to go to the rooms. They take the money I pay in double for one room in same night, dont refund one of them like honest people wil do, because i dont use two rooms only one in same night.

Hotel Conterie is a hidden treasure. We enjoyed every moment while visiting Murano. Our room was spotless, with new linens and great shower pressure. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the light breakfast, which was perfect... with plenty of variety. We loved the coffee machine that made cappuccino, latte, etc... relaxing on the open air breakfast patio. All the staff was really nice and accommodating. The room was available an hour earlier so we were really thankful to check-in rather to just leave the bags. Beware - on the list in the room, there was a note that the staff has a break from 13:00-14:00. The breakfast was just fine, although there were only sweet options and coffee from automat coffeemaker. Overall it was really nice, we enjoyed our stay.

The AC in the room was too cold and I could not turned it down, although there was a controler.

Good location if you're ok staying in Murano. Near the vaporetto. Rooms were fine, nothing extravagant and maybe a little dated, but for the price it was an excellent deal for Venice and I would absolutely stay there again.

2 minor issues: (1) I stayed in two different rooms, and in the showers of both rooms, the shower nozzle had this annoying tendency to rotate backward, so that instead of spraying water downward onto the shower floor, the water shot upward, over the shower walls and soaking the rest of the bathroom. (2) This is not necessarily a flaw of this hotel, but I only found out when I was checking out that the city tax must be paid in cash (maybe this is common knowledge among frequent European travelers, but I was not aware of it and no one informed me beforehand). I didn't have cash, so I had to rush to an ATM and back so I didn't miss my ferry to the airport. Luckily, I had budgeted some extra time for checkout, so I made it to the ferry with time to spare.

Beautiful, quiet location on Murano, close to several good restaurants and a superb glass workshop. Deceptive and distinctive building layout. Nice terrace. Owner was very polite.

There are challenging steps in some of the corridors and going into the bathroom. It was because the building is old and just the way it is. But it could pose a problem for someone with limited mobility. Ask for a ground floor room if that is the case.

The staff was very nice and informative. The installations were super clean and cosy. The zone is very safe and easy to arrive (just 15 min from the 4.1 & 4.2 Vaporettos). And the free breakfast in the morning was very warm and tasty! (I loved the warm croissants!)

It was my second stay at this hotel, it is well-located, clean, and comfortable. However, this time I was put in a room on the roof, with two roof windows, and no view. I found it a bit claustrophobic, and the route to get there with steps and more steps, even to the bathroom, seemed less pleasant than the last time I stayed in a room with windows, and plenty of sunlight.

The room had a musty smell. It was a bit small for two people - we had to coordinate walking around the beds, and close the closet doors/drawers to do so. Wifi did not reach our room (room 3 downstairs); we had to go out in the hallway to get internet.

Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, good choice at breakfast ? A good base for exploring all around the Venice area, would highly recommend getting a 3 day vaporetto ticket. I would definitely book here again if I ever visit the area in the future ??

We had a bit of a leak in the bathroom on our first night but they fixed it very quickly. The only thing missing in the room was a kettle and facilities to make a hot drink first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Quiet location in the middle of murano.

Surprised that there were no windows in our room. (Had skylights - Velux windows). That was unexpected and meant that there was no view at all. Breakfast choices were ok but not sumptuous. Eg no toaster or buns. Small choice of fruit.

The owner/manager was friendly and good to deal with, the other staff less so.

Bed was hard and thin, pillows were rock hard. Room was tiny, there was no heating (this is not a big problem for us, but we weren’t told at check in meaning we’d been COOLING the room when we tried to heat it). Bathroom was outdated and smelt.

Breakfast was as always good, not a Buffett or the like but a good genuine decent start to the day, not unhappy at all.

Beds need to be a little more comfy and shower head a little more conjuncive to solid and comfortable water flow.

Easy to find, room is small but we were just staying the night. Breakfast was more than we were expecting. The reception also call to make sure we would be checking in before she left for the evening!

That we found a place outside of Venice, the costs for the room, the lovely terraces, that Murano has a fenced dog area where they can get off the leash. Also a big thank you to the lovely lady at the reception! Your tips really were awesome.

- the free wifi (no or really bad connection in our room) - breakfast (every day the same and very, very minimalistic ) - the smell of our room and no heating in the bathroom (story time): when we arrived we noticed a pretty bad smell (mold like and very strong). First we didn't think much of it. We aired the room several times without any success. So we gave notice at the reception. The next day; we put the cleaning sign up, went to the "breakfast" for a few minutes and wanted to explore Murano with our dog afterwards. Back at our room we got confronted, ah sorry, shouted at (no joke!). He would like to clean our room, but since the dog is inside he is not cleaning it. The smell, he added(since we didn't say something from the beginning), isn't coming from the room, "the dogs smells". He wasn't even inside. The next day we had an official letter on our door (no real communication or apologies from the men that shouted) which said"we cannot clean the room when your dog is inside". Totally understood. Again we just went up for a few minutes, ate and were ready to go outside and already they started cleaning. Even without a cleaning sign they just went inside when we weren't there.... Worst Hotel experience ever! Because of the bad attitude, the horrendous smell (all clothing and bags are still smelling), no communication with the guest (lady at the desk completely excluded) we left early!

Property is superb, spotlessly clean,breakfast very good, the decor in the corridors and rooms is in stunning material on the walls with rope/embroidered accents, very impressive.

One of our party thought the bed was firm but that’s hotels for you, I’m ok with it.

The cost was moderate

There was only a sheer curtain (no blackout contain). Bed was uncomfortable. There is no elevator and to reach the room one must walk outside, climbing stone steps which get wet and slippery when it rains This resulted in one of our party slipping, falling and sustaining substantial bruising. The breakfast is minimal. The manager was surly and never bothered to check on the person who fell, even though the fall was right outside the office.
