Hotel staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was much larger than I expected so there was plenty of room for luggage, etc. I was particularly pleased with the comfort of the king bed. I haven't slept that well in a long time! The location was perfect but only because I needed to be close to where my partner and his family were. The mall was also a short walk away and had a few good restaurants. Central Merida was quite close (about a $4-$5 Uber ride). However, if you want to be within real walking distance of activities in Central Merida, I would stay at the Holiday Inn Express in that location. Breakfast was fine and typical, but nothing amazing.

For some reason, they only gave us one fresh bottle of water each morning even though there were two of us in the room. But a quick trip to the front desk solved that with no problem. The only other major drawback is the lack of an actual restaurant or bar. The first night I arrived late and didn't really want to hunt for food. It would have been nice to have something in the hotel to grab a quick bite and drink and go to bed.
