We really liked was its central location, the very friendly and helpful staff, and the excellent breakfast with great coffee!

Unfortunately, there were also some serious downsides. We stayed in an attic room facing the street, and the old skylight windows were drafty and let in a lot of noise. During the weekend, there was a rock disco directly under the hotel. The music was extremely loud and drunk people were shouting outside until morning. It was horrible and unbearable — I couldn’t sleep at all for two nights. Truly awful experience! Considering it was a rather expensive hotel, the weekend stay was definitely not worth it. However, outside of the weekend I would recommend it 100%. Otherwise, make sure to request a room not facing the street.

This hotel is well located for a visit to Oslo. It is around a 5 minute walk to the waterfront and other attractions are also close at hand. The hotel is modern and our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was also good.

This property was so easy to get to, and a great location. We were close to all the things we needed. The rooms were spotless and the buffet breakfast in the morning was perfect. Really loved the shampoo and conditioner that is provided. This was the largest room I could find at a great rate for our 3 night stay and the bed was very comfortable. Europe typically doesn’t have king sized beds that I have found so it was a treat. Highly recommend. Would stay there again definitely.

The bathroom shower is weak. I couldn’t get the water hot enough and the water pressure was not a thing. Also for some reason the shower doors aren’t sealed so water gets everywhere.

The informed me that the price for breakfast was 190 NOK per person, but didn´t informed me that I had to pre-booked to guarantee that price. My surprise was that the next day I was charged 235 NOK. I would have appreciated that little details so I would have pre-booked my breakfast. Also the the cleaning service is limited. They only make the beds but they don´t change the towels or clean the bathroom. They didn´t even picked up used mugs Also I was missing a bath mat in the bathroom.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel was ok, could have been better. The beds were comfortable, but small. But that was true of all the hotels we stayed in. We stayed twice as we went to Flam in between the stays and they allowed us to keep our luggage in the luggage room without charge which was very nice of them. Breakfast was good.

Corridors were shabby. We had a lot of problems with the key card the first time we stayed, and had to get it changed 3 to 4 times. We had problems with the lift and ended up using the goods lift. I think the hotel has not been renovated for a long time. Its also seems to be a business hotel, because they don't have information for tourists.

Breakfast was really disappointing for two vegans. Helsinki Scandics were amazing (two different branches), which led us to believe we'd have a similar experience in Norway. Sadly not: I don't want salad for breakfast. Poor soundproofing on the top floor meant we had a chorus of bells every 15 minutes from 7am to midnight. Early night after a long day of travel? Forget it.

The location was good. In the heart of everything. Breakfast was great. The staff was pleasant. The rooms were small but it was OK, most city hotels are like that. The bathroom was big.

We stayed for 3 nights and eventhough we asked for housekeeping twice we were ignored. Had to get the toilet paper myself from the reception. A few more amenities in the bathroom would be nice. The TV had no streaming. You couldn't share screen or anything.

-Staff were unfriendly and showed little willingness to help. -The first room faced the kitchen and smelled strongly like one. When I asked to change it, the staff member came to check the room and said he couldn’t smell anything, and that it would be difficult to change since the hotel was full. They eventually switched my room after I insisted. -The first room I tried had a working air conditioner with very cold air (a rare thing to find in Norway hotels). In the second room, the AC did not work. When I asked, the staff insisted the hotel had no AC, even though the first room clearly did. Later, after trying several times, the AC actually started working! However, the window cannot be opened, so there was no way for fresh air to come in without a working AC. The staff showed no interest in resolving the issue -Overpriced ($272 per night) compared to the quality and services. -No phone in the room to contact reception, which means you have to go down in person for any request. -No tissue box provided. -No floor towel/mat in the bathroom. -Disturbing noise early in the morning from loud music and nearby street construction. -TV does not support mirroring unless you use an HDMI cable.

The location is also great - right in the centre of Oslo, where you can walk pretty much everywhere you need to be within 20/25 mins and well placed for trains, busses and trams for wider exploration. The front desk staff were not all as friendly, welcoming or helpful as you might hope - they were not rude, but did seem to find guests something of an inconvenience. Room cleaning was a bit hit and miss - It was spotless on arrival, and we only had it cleaned on one day, but she didn't empty the bins, take the used cups and glasses, or wipe down in the bathroom. So making the beds and replacing the towels seemed to be all she actually did.

Scandic unlike other hotels I have used, have a time delay before the door locks as you exit. I'm not used to this and initially could not figure out why the door did not lock as we exited the room. Room faced inwards over the dining room which meant it was darker than it would be if we faced outwards.

Wonderfully situated in the heart of Oslo. The room was a comfortable and warm base for us to explore Oslo in the winter. We really appreciated the ability to fully open the window so that the room wasn't too hot for us to feel comfortable. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The inclusion of a little fridge was wonderful, so we had somewhere to store our brunost slices!

The room had a couple quite unacceptable cleanliness issues; hairs on the bed, stained bedsheets, and dirty windows that got our clothes dirty when we hung them up. The shower was a bit annoying and often risked flooding the bathroom, because there was no split-levelling to keep the water contained. The room could've been bigger, although it was sufficient. Gym facilities were somewhat lacking.

I arrived to be told that most hotels in Oslo are on strike and the hotels operate on a skeleton staff. Had I booked direct with the hotel my booking would have been cancelled. I was staying overnight en route home the following day. At first I was told they would try to find me a room in another Scandic. Thankfully, a room was found where I had booked. The receptionist thanked me for not getting angry. I told her that it wasn't her fault so being angry would have achieved nothing. Breakfast was limited but still streets ahead of breakfast at a British hotel. The situation of the hotel is brilliant - a 20 mins walk to Oslo S for the express to the airport - and with a suitcase. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. And, of course, you're a short walk from museums and the wee ferries to the islands where Fram, Kon Tiki and the Osnaberg viking ships are. Buy an 'I love Oslo' card from the Oslo Tourist Shop in Oslo S and the entrances and ferries are included.

The location is exceptional, bigger rooms than in most hotels. Bathroom had heated floor, nice shower pressure, clean white towels and comfortable sheets.

Long check in process, same feelings about check out. Reception and the bar staff is the same, although the bar is quite small and we were alone in the lobby, but had to wait longer than expected for someone to notice us and take our order (the staff definitely saw us but just didn't seem to care). Hotel outside the room seemed dirty overall, one day we saw a pizza box lying around on the floor in front of an elevator door, it was there for a half of the day. Also ran into a Band-Aid on the floor in the corridor, although it was unused, it lied there for a couple of days, didn't pick it up just because I wanted to check if someone will finally clean it up.. But it didn't happen until we left after our stay ended after 3 nights.
