The area is quiet beside the park. The buffet breakfast in the hotel is good.
The TV is broken in the room where we were in, and couldn’t find the clerk to take care of it.

Large room was good
No jug in the room. No one answered phones between 9am and my check in time at 2pm. Nowhere to safely store bags after checking out before flight. Was no one on reception at 11am when I checked out. Rang the phone at the desk was told to put bags in an unlocked cupboard near reception, which didn’t feel secure . I also asked for a flatter pillow was told all pillows are the same. Not much care for guests but I guess it was a cheaper option than others in Christchurch that day. If you are a light sleeper would not recommend booking here as traffic is very loud with a busy intersection below.
On booking.com it says that there are spa baths. This is partly incorrect as spa functions no longer work and will not be repaired apparently.

Close to shops, park and eateries. The room was a lovely size with a view and a balcony overlooking Hagley Park. Nice comfortable bed and pillows.
The unwelcoming reception personnel, tired and dirty entrance that smelt like spicy food including the hallway on my level. No plug, dish cloth, tea towel or dish rack to do dishes, only one coffee mug ptovided no hairdryer until I asked for one, bathroom door would not close properly and this was in an upgraded room with a balcony.

room size was good.
30% of rooms DO NOT LOOK OVER THE PARK, they look into or over a high rise carpark very close to the rooms. The venue specified access from the residents carpark area to the hotel on level one. There is a door, BUT it is disabled to prevent entry from the carpark; there is no signage to advise you that door entry is disabled, nor did the receptionist warn us of this restriction at check in (had to walk down carpark steps exposed to the elements, find out the door is disabled and deal with it!!!!

The whole place absolutely stunk, it made my whole suitcase reek and everything needed wasing. There was someone else's rubbish in my bin. The sink tap handle didn't turn to cold so no drinking water. The shower tap handle had completely come off and was just sitting there.

Spacious room. Smart decor. Good value and location with choice of restaurants and right opposite the big park.
Only few on-site icar parking spaces by entrance else have to park on top floor of multi storey opposite ( very tricky narrow ramps) then walk down to entrance. Though there is free parking on road.
