Kamana Lakehouse - Queenstown

Located 5 minutes' drive from the center of Queenstown, Kamana Lakehouse offers stunning views over Lake Wakatipu and the iconic Remarkables mountain range. Each beautiful, air-conditioned room features contemporary decor, premium beds, USB charging ports, free WiFi, and an outdoor seating area. Nest is growing lasting roots in our local Central Otago environment.

We bring you delicious foraged herbs, seeds and wild ingredients, and nurture key partnerships with local farmers, growers and fishermen. There is always something new and exciting at Nest. We update menu items with the four seasons, and bring unique creations to light every week in our five course degustation experience.

All thoughtfully designed towards an aspirational “zero waste” dining experience. Kamana Lakehouse is just 5 minutes' walk from the entrance of Fernhill Loop Track and Ben Lomond Track for easy access to some of New Zealand's native nature. It is well serviced by activity operators and close to local ski fields.

We wish to share an important note with our guests: From April 2024 onwards, neighboring areas in close proximity to the hotel are currently undergoing extensive development work. Our hotel and facilities remain fully operational, however we do wish to share that guests could possibly experience the sound impact during the hours of Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. Our Lakeview Luxe and Tahuna Lakeview room categories are located adjacent to the development and may therefore have their views impacted at times.

We are regulars to Queenstown. Unfortunately we felt the need to warn people about our stay. We arrived after booking 6 months in advance, on arrival we were told there is building work going on. (Never mentioned on messaging to the hotel or on booking.com) we then saw the view which was now completely ruined. We spoke to reception, the duty manager at the time and she shrugged her shoulders saying it is what it is, no apology, after persisting she then said she will see what she can do, she never came back to us.. The room was small, cheap and outdated (lake view room) all staff we encountered throughout the stay were rude and hostile, very unwelcoming and uncomfortable enviroment at breakfast, hot tub and when asking questions. The lake view can be found at 100s+ places in Queenstown, this place is not special with any offerings. Don't take the risk, do yourself a favour and book at another. This was over all an Incredibly disappointing hotel and stay.

Accessible bathroom was well designed for these specific criteria but made the bed space a little small. From the friendly and welcoming staff at the front desk to our loverly servers in the restaurant, we could not have asked for a more relaxing and enjoyable stay. Food was absolutely phenomenal, from the lounge food menu (the milk bread and honey butter is a must!) to the breakfast options! We didn't get a change to try dinner so will have to come back! The facilities were clean and comfortable, the view from the room and balcony of the restaurant were spectacular overlooking the lake and Remarkables, make sure to catch the sunset! Although the view from the hot tub is blocked by the frosted glass due to construction going on around the property, the soak was still a great complimentary experience and hopefully this will be completed when we come back for our next stay!

Our room wasn’t vacuumed on the last day when it was serviced. We noticed this when we returned late after dinner when we returned home 9:15pm so took photos to show at check out. The view and it was nice and peaceful in the rooms and restaurant . The restaurant was really good despite not having much variety for the kids breakfast. The bathrooms was stocked well with necessities. Complimentary parking.

The construction noise when in the soak tub as well as the view in the restaurant being obstructed by construction happening close by. The extra bed linen was not washed at all. Rooms were not thoroughly vacuumed you would still find crumbs of food ate the previous day.

We chose this hotel to stay at over Christmas and it was lovely. The view from our room was wonderful, the room itself was spacious and very comfortable. Without exception all the staff were very friendly , helpful and kind. The breakfast options were delicious and the restaurant was spacious, relaxed and had a fantastic view of lake and mountains. The lounge and bar was a very cosy place to while away a few hours reading, writing postcards, playing cards or just generally chilling! Queenstown is a short drive away down the hill.

It was quite pricey but at that time of year, over Christmas this was to be expected. The enjoyment of our stay outweighed our previous concern over the cost.

Incredible view, amazing restaurant, great staff. Parking onsite which made things easier. Our room had a lake view and was gorgeous to wake up to. The restaurant view was amazing as well.

Given the price of the room, it would have been great to have a porter to help with bags etc. But this is not common in NZ hotels, sadly. Otherwise, the staff were great. The soak pools no longer have a view which was disappointed, but we were not charged to use them, thankfully.
