We’re used to a little friendlier welcome. There was a glitch with booking.com not displaying all room options with breakfast, so we bought two bedrooms but one without breakfast with the aim to pay at the hotel. We were made feel as if we wanted a free breakfast and explained that booking.com always gives this option. We travel enough to know that, however not this time.
After what we thought we had the breakfast added to our account on arrival we then had to have the same conversation in the breakfast room the next day.
I understand some people may try to get a free breakfast but a hotel of this standard should have their staff act as this was never suspected.
Our first stay there was absolutely perfect, hence this second visit. Not sure now.

The location was great very central with easy access by foot to trains and a short taxi to the airport.
The restaurants are good and the food is really good with a lovely rooftop restaurant.
Spacious rooms with large bathrooms and comfortable beds.
The curtains in our room didn't fully cover our windows so light would stream in overnight and some street noise.
The pool was nice but the jacuzzi was quite cold though and the gym really cramped.
One small thing on the staff. I Lost my sunglasses ( my fault no big deal ), told staff and they said if they found them they would get them to me without even taking down my room number/ name which I found a little strange/ dismissive.

It looks old and traditional from the outside ( I believe it was once a department store) and the lobby is wall to wall polished marble, but that belies some very design-y choices inside. Our room had lots of exposed concrete and timber, although the bathroom was almost entirely marble. The ceiling was so high that the waterfall shower genuinely felt like standing under a waterfall. First properly big fluffy bath towels on our Polish trip. However, we never quite got the hang of the lighting in our room, which seemed unnecessarily complicated. It’s a really comfortable hotel and really well located for the old town and the various bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was the best we’ve had so far on our Polish trip - a huge selection of fresh fruits as well as the usual meats, cheeses, breads and the obligatory dry breakfast cake. Hot food is cooked to order and was excellent. The young staff are keen to please. Highly recommended.

A very spacious corner room with a high ceiling, big windows with a view at the square and wooden floor.
Big, comfortable bathroom. Nice, comfortable bed.

Decent breakfast with a good a la carte service. A very good coffee.
The hotel has a very dark design: dark wood, dark stones. Some people may like it, but not me.
There is only one lift so one has to wait for few minutes when busy.
The swimming pool is dark and moderate size.
It is a good quality but very expensive: I invited friends for a tea with a splash of rum and I paid £11,- per person, similar to central London prices.

I was staying there for one night. I was expecting a comfortable bed, quiet room and tasty breakfast.
It was impossible to close the drapes and with lights just outside the window, it was a bit of a pain. There was no switch next to the bed to charge the phone. The breakfast was quite disappointing and limited. I could hear the noise from the next door.

The noise of the bathroom from the other room was very loud, every use of the shower or toilet was audible in our room. With the light switch next to bed you could only switch off the lights in the room, to switch them back on you had to get up and walk to the entrance of the room. What even worse, the same switch next to bed was also switching off all the lights in the bathroom, what was really annoying for the other person who was in the bathroom at this moment. By the way, the room was dark even during the day with all lights on. The only one armchair in the double room was very uncomfortable. Apparently the interior designer had no sense of functionality on his mind. There was only single pillow for each person, so we had to ask for the second one. There was now way to prepare tea in the room, when we called the reception, the lady brought us the teapot with only one black tea sachet, so we had to share it - there was also one green and one rooibos sachet, that we don't drink.

The only thing that was weird is that the bathroom has a “see through glass wall” which we first thought was cute, but quickly realised you can basically see from the bed the person that was at the toilet doing their business. So it was a bit strange haha

Room was dark. The over bath shower was very difficult (and dangerous) to get in and out of.
Also 2 strong fingers were required to flush the toilet.

The hotel truly goes beyond standard amenities. Instead of generic hotel toiletries, they provide L’Occitane products. Fresh fruit is available both in the spa area and at the reception if you feel like having a light snack. You can really feel that a lot of thought has been put into quality and the small details.

All was good in the hotel....it looks like a 5 star hotel, but in reality the hotel is 4.5 stars as there are a lot of small issues not 100% fitting, just 90%: in the rooms the lightning was quite weak and the ventilation looks from the last century, the gym was there but not really usable as there were not enough beds for lying or no room for stretching/ yoga, food was perfect so in particular breakfast and the coffee/bar, location just perfect, in the middle of the old twon, parking was quite expensive so what would I not guess from a 5 start hotel....anyway, in total we were very happy, the things above were just small issues when you compare to the standard they want to be in!
Rooms: lightning, in particular the bathroom, ventilation flow is old and partly load/ parking too expensive/ fitness centre not well strucutured and sauna too small, not enough locations for relaxing

The location is great, hotel bar is nice. All in the heart of old town, close to great walking path around the moat.
The bath in our room had not working jacuzzi, jacuzzi at the pool had same temp like pool itself so maybe that sustainability but was a bit disappointing. about the room, we stayed at 5th floor that was addition to historical structure so great view but the doors and walls felt very slim and not noise isolated since all the sounds form corridor and rooms next to us was clearly noticeable e.g morning alarm or cough or children running outside < hotel stated that it is the most luxurious one but I think it is only history now, maybe was 10y are ago.
