The location of our unit was on the ground floor of the resort as far to the back as possible and far from ocean views and the pool. Next time I’d try for a different unit location, though we were told the only way to insure this was to request a “duplex” unit - like a townhouse with two floors.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom (queen bed) unit with an upstairs loft (two twin beds). It was huge, with three bathrooms (the main bath was huge!), four balconies, a large "great room" with a dining table and multiple couches, and a full (large) kitchen with a washing machine. The furniture was of high quality. They supplied fresh oranges, bottled water, Nespresso pods, a few sugar packets and dishwasher pods. (For those using the kitchen, bring your own essentials, like dish soap and salt/pepper.) The unit is part of a large condominium complex with a reception desk (that rents out vacant units), two pools (adult and child), and reportedly tennis courts (we didn't see them). There is an onsite Italian restaurant (closed on Tuesdays), but we can't comment on quality as we didn't eat there. Most units would not have an ocean view, but we did from one of our balconies, which was nice (noisy--see below). We weren't there in high season and found street parking easily. The Luz beach is about about a 10 min walk. It has lots of sand, some tide pools, and the ability to rent umbrella/chairs. There are some restaurants along the beach boardwalk.

Our unit (building 24) was right next to the main road (M537) into/out of Luz, and every vehicle exiting Luz hit the manhole cover located right next to the unit, making it even noisier. Upon recognizing the noisy location at check-in, we tried to switch units and were told repeatedly that it couldn't be done and that "all the units face roads," equating the quiet driveways between buildings with the heavily trafficked M537. (The next day, they did offer alternative units but with an "upcharge" of about 50% per night to switch.) The vehicle traffic did get more sparse at night (at least in the off season, when things closed early). But there is a large marquee sign made of metal right outside the main bedroom that rattled with the wind (which blew strongly at night), making even more noise. We had to keep all windows closed to have any peace and quiet and had some trouble sleeping. Bring your earplugs. The balconies had no shade (no cover or umbrellas).

Baia de Luz is a very well maintained complex 5 minutes walk from the beach and promenade in Luz. Pool side apartment was very big and comfortable. Place was spotless. The Allora restaurant on site was great and good value. We loved the resort town of Luz. Surprisingly quiet in mid July ! No strip or loud disco bars / clubs. Definitely caters more to young families and older clientele.

The only improvement I would suggest is to have proper sun beds or at least comfortable chairs in the huge balcony. The hard plastic chairs are not conducive to sitting out on the balcony in the shade which I would have liked to do. Sun beds by the pool are comfortable and there is enough room to accommodate two of those on the balcony

There were 2 pools - one adult, one for children. The adult pool was lovely and quiet for a few days until a larger family group arrived with older teenagers. They were dive bombing into the ball, shouting and screaming and playing balls - all not allowed in the adult pool. The pool attendant did nothing. I did complain at reception, but the following day when balls were being thrown in the pool the attendants said nothing until an annoyed adult threw the ball away from the pool. It was a shame as the pools are really lovely and provide both peaceful adult and lively children's space if used properly.

The location of our room was next to the road, very noisy with people talking outside our window. It said pool side but you were hidden at the back like it was an after thought. There was no real balcony area, just a little shelf like area with a view of the car park, the sofa was very uncomfortable in the room.

We loved this property. Luz is a lovely town with a beautiful beach and waterfront promenade lined with restaurants and bars. Our resort was a short walk to the beach and to shops and restaurants. For a wider variety of groceries, there is excellent shopping in the nearby city of Lagos, a 10 minute drive away. Our apartment had a beautiful big balcony with a dining table and chairs and a variety of seating. It was tastefully furnished, the tiled floors were lovely and had in floor heating which was very welcome on cool mornings and evenings, the kitchen was well equipped and had a dishwasher and washing machine with dishwasher and laundry tabs provided and housekeeping was included - their staff dropped by a few times every week to clean, change towels and empty the garbage and recycling bins and sheets were changed weekly. The front desk staff were always friendly, helpful and took care of any issues quickly. Another positive note is Alloro, the Italian restaurant in this complex, which has excellent food , a great staff and very reasonable prices. We would definitely stay at Baia da Luz again.

We had a short but lovely stay. The reception team were so welcoming and charming, plus the apartment was immaculate, spacious and comfortable. On a practical note, the apartment was really well equipped in the kitchen and living areas, with a lovely big balcony and for those that want/need it, strong and consistent wifi in all areas. During our visit in March, the complex was quiet, so a really relaxing break. No doubt livelier during peak season but quiet was our plan, so a big win! Restaurant and bar onsite, 3 pools, plenty of parking etc. Decent local supermarkets in easy walking distance, plus beach and restaurants. Major supermarkets and everything else you could want in short driving distance.

Friendly and helpful staff. When we couldn’t get the stove unlocked, Sandra from reception came up herself and fixed it for us. Very fun decor in the apartment. Well equipped kitchen. Even a salad spinner!

The lack of privacy due to its location on the roadway. Cars driving in and out of the parking lot. People coming and going from the restaurant a metre or two from the bed. It was a little unnerving at first.

Great place! Spacious and clean apartments, great for families. Staff were very friendly. About a 5 minute walk to a great beach with small boardwalk with bathrooms and restaurants. We loved being in the town of Luz!

The 3 bedroom apartment we stayed in was SUPER comfortable. We had such a great stay and look forward to when we can return. Pool area was nice. The restaurant on property has really good food. Location was great, not far from supermarket and restaurants.

Would have preferred if it was a bit closer to the beach.

Our apartment was spacious (much bigger than we expected) and clean. Our unit had a nice view which was an added bonus. The baby pool was great for our family.

We loved everything about this property from the location to the facilities, to the apartment itself. We didn’t want to leave. The pictures online don’t do it justice. It’s better in reality. The apartment is huge - large living room, balconies in almost every room, big kitchen with full size fridge and dishwasher and, best of all, an entire master suite upstairs that was totally unexpected. The listing says two-bedroom. It’s actually three, including with three bathrooms. A pool (actually three pools), a bar and a restaurant are all on site, and the beach and beach bars and restaurants are about a 7-minute walk away. There were five people in our group. The apartment is more than spacious enough. Perfect AC, blackout blinds, etc. etc. I could go on. Wait, did I mention the indoor garage parking available in the building… and beach/pool towels for every guest?

We loved everything. If I had to quibble, I’d say one bathroom was a bit small, but absolutely not a deal breaker.

The bar staff were extremely nice and polite , the check-in staff were also very helpful and friendly , we were out when the cleaners came in but they always left the room to a very high standard
