A very quiet street, thus you get a good sleep. My room faced the garden, what a bonus.All premises very clean. Just 3-4mts from the metro station. A very helpful gentleman at the reception. And just 3 stations by metro to get downtown. On the ground floor, a big fridge, a micro and a kettle(if necessary).

Unfortunately they had a problema and no water in the day of my check out. I filtered "parking" in the booking.com and they only have 2 parking places. But the 1 staff member told me I could park my car next to the garage door of the hotel, and I did. I offered to them to take my keys...if they need. But in the day before another staff member write a message in my car criticizing me for stopping the car near the hotel garage (where I was staying). They need to improve their comunication.

The reception was excellent, the gentleman was very welcoming and gave us very good advice of places to visit. The hotel is quite basic and 1.3 miles from the old town downhill. But there is the excellent and cheap Metro service two stations being with in a few minutes walk. There are nearby cafes and bar nearby which are frequented by locals and friendly. The main town does not take long to get to by Metro and there is a good service out to the airport for a few euros.

The only positive thing I can say: easy to reach by Uber and close to the metro with clear signage to find the hotel.

Our stay at this hotel was by far the worst experience weโve ever had in all our travels across 30+ countries. We checked out after just one night and moved to another hotel.
The room was in terrible condition. The bathroom had black mold all over the walls, and there were clumps of hair on the floor. The sheets were dirty and didnโt fully cover the blanket, leaving it exposed. Additionally, the room was much smaller than what was shown in the advertised pictures.
For the price we paid, this felt like a tourist trap. We were able to find another hotel within the same price range that offered much better conditions.

From walking distance to the city centre. The staff was very kind and helpful. The bathroom was very nice.
The room was quite small (which was expected).
The bedframe smelled a little like damp and there was no real cover on the duvet, just a sheet between the fitted sheet and the duvet. I doubt they wash the duvet for every customer, and found this a bit gross. The pillows were also not very comfortable.

The room was not fit for its purpose, the walls had black mould in the bedroom space as well as the bathroom. It was difficult to sleep as the smell of the mould was unbearable and it seeped into the linen. Do not stay here!!!

Location short walk to tube station just 3 stops to center. The entire building was quite humid, particularly in the room. Turning on the AC only made things worse; as soon as it heated up, condensation formed on the mirrors, windows, and walls. The only way to reduce the humidity was by using the AC's DRY setting, which further dropped the room temperature. We ended up sleeping in extra layers to stay warm throughout the night.

The room was very clean and new. The receptionist was very helpful, we were checked in before the allowed hours. In 7 minutes you can get to the nice cafe with coffee and pastries. It will take you around 20 minutes of walk to get to the Via Catarina shopping mall.
There were some repair works so it was quite noisy during the day and dirty near the entrance.

Porto is amazing - even in the rain! But I will never go to this GRAND RIO HOTEL again - it was a trap.
There was mold in room, and bathroom - yes I should be suspicious more as the window as like as the door was open once we arrived and they took off the curtains too. We arrived at midnight the first night and then we were recommended to switch on the heating, but it got much worse. I got sick from mold and stayed awake the whole next night and could not breathe - so rather I paid another hundred EUR for to be in a lovely hotel in the center with breakfast. There are plenty of great possibilities to stay in Porto in the fall, and I hope I will never make such a mistake and book a place like this again. In the morning there was a smell of mold in the hallway and even in the basement where there is a room with a kettle, but they used some chemicals on the mold during the day. I know that once the fungal spores are there heating or spraying them do not help - but we wanted to enjoy our trip and not get the treatment from a hotel as you can see below. You can see in quite a few comments from other guest who rather left then threting the health and reception was not supprised at all that we are leaving even we paid for two more nights. Building is quite humid. Turning on the heating only making it worse. Condensation formed on the mirrors, windows, and walls... So maybe this is nice Hotel to stay when there is sunshine and high temperatures in the summer but not fall, winter

Very Good Value for Money and excellent location. The hotel is located in the heart of Porto's downtown, only 15 mns away by walk from "Baixa" and Santa Catarina Shopping Street. There are also 2 metro stops nearby "Marquรชs" and "Faria Guimaraes" which is always a plus. Staff was helpful and nice.

Good value for money. Clean and we'll maintained inside. Exterior let's it down.
10-15 min walk for the city centre. However, this is reflected in the price. Metro station nearby though. Surrounding areas can look a little run down, making the walk back in the dark interesting.

The beds are uncomfortable especially the pillows, they do not provide any support and they need to unclog the shower.

. The good part was that the room was clean and the location was very good.
The room was quite small and in the bathroom was freezig cold, because the room was heated only by the AC. We did't have a fridge in the room and no parking spot. We' ve ended up parking in a place where they said that it was ok, and the next day in the morning we've ended up with a parking fine from the police.

The location was perfect. Very central and right where we wanted to stay.
The room was nothing out of this world but perfect for the price paid.
The sockets are not next to the bed, and it takes a long time for the water to get hot in the shower.

Cute small room, the TV works fine and easy to navigate. However, the air con work all night and day without automatically turning off, this the best thing about this hotel!
The noise from the corridors, water usage from other room all travel into the room. No kettle/tea station in the room.

Absolutely amazing hostel, comfy beds, clean room, well equiped. Iโm giving 9/10 just because rude grannie at the front desk, read below.
We confirmed with front desk that we can leave our backpacks at the front desk before our check-in time. We arrived at the front desk and the rude old lady started literally screaming at us that check-in is from 2pm. Anyways the man at the front desk at the check-in later was very kind.

The property looked old and decrepit on the outside but had been modernised on the inside. The location was handy to laundromats and shops. The churn steeple which is the highest point in Porto is just up the road - entry โฌ1 each. Trinidade.Station with its direct connection to the Airport is just a 20 minute walk in the other direction, which is mostly downhill.
The bathroom was great but the room was on the small side, as was the bed, which was long but narrow. The mattress was only average. The kitchen in the downstairs basement needs a lot of attention. The fridge was good and the electric jug was ok but the rest of the equipment wasnโt usable. Crockery and cutlery was minimal.

-Also, the young man at the reception was kind and helps us with luggages
-The room is modern
- The hotel does not have an elevator
- In the bathroom there is no space to hang the towels or put some clothes
- We left our luggages in their hotel after the check out and they did not inform us that nobody will be there and the door will be closed between 1-2PM. Because of that we have to wait someone to come and after that to hurry at the airport.

Pretty good no-frills hotel. My room had a nice little view, and the A/C worked fine. Bed was pretty comfy. They were very nice about storing my suitcase for a couple days before I arrived, and the 24-hour desk was really helpful. The location is okayโnot super central but the area is quiet.
My room was so tiny it was hard to find somewhere to put my suitcaseโI think it would have been pretty tricky with two people. There were also a few little old black stain spots on the bedding... it didn't feel as clean as I might have hoped.

Access door on side street. No one on duty until 2 pm, but someone (cleaner?) heard us outside earlier in morning, and allowed us to leave our packs in basement for day. Rooms
Room was musty and at street level, so noise of heavy metal door when people coming in late or going out early, couldnโt be avoided. Was 30 minute walk down to River Douro and so 30 minute back up, but if you are a Camino walker, you can do it! Thatโs why staying here is cheaper. No tea/coffee/fridge in room. Kitchen downstairs appears to be completely shut down and may be off limits. No explanation given. There is fridge, kettle, microwave down there though if you have some of your own supplies โฆ
