The breakfast was good and the cleaning in general worked (one day the cleaner had been in a hurry and it was not ideal, but the next day it was fine again). We asked for a quiet room and we got one.

The lifts are very small and you need to wait for them. The bathroom was old and you could see little dark bits in the shower. They also had computer trouble that took several minutes when we tried to check out.

During our stay at the hotel, we were primarily out exploring, so we didn't spend much time in the facility. However, the hotel met our needs adequately. Although the hotel lacked a restaurant, it didn't negatively impact our stay as we frequently dined at nearby restaurants or in the city center. The surrounding area offered multiple dining options. Additionally, there were nearby markets and shops that were convenient. We had limited interactions with the staff, but the little contact we had was positive, with a friendly and accommodating receptionist during check-in. The room was cleaned daily, and the hotel featured a small bar that stayed open until 1 am, where we enjoyed a couple of drinks on our first night. The hotel offered good value for our money.

One drawback was the hotel's location, which was somewhat distant from the city center/main attractions. It was a 40-minute walk to the center, which we didn't mind, but it was notable that it was raining most days when we visited, making the walk less convenient. However, this was not a surprise to us, as we were aware of it when booking, and we primarily used taxis as a group for transportation to the center. Another issue was the comfort of the bed. The bed felt old and uncomfortable, with a noticeable sinking feeling, suggesting that the mattress needed replacement. Additionally, the breakfast options were somewhat limited. Personally, this didn't significantly impact my stay, as I typically have a small breakfast with coffee. Moreover, there's a cafe conveniently located right next to the hotel, offering an alternative breakfast choice. It's worth noting that the hotel only provides shower gel, so be sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner.

Breakfast good but expected famous Pastel De Nata and none available. Staff very friendly Price for use of minibar very good and not usual rip off of other hotels. Later check out than other hotels which is great and option to hold bags at no extra cost for late flights. Delta instant coffee in room is awful but breakfast and camomile tea is lovely -just not left every day.

Bed very firm so not to my liking. Could also do with firmer pillow option. No restaurant in hotel but two next door. But would have liked to be told this at check in. Good public transport near but again would be nice to be told this at check in...especially with road works on road. Bar area is nice and female server lovely. But could be promoted a but more or enhanced so you don't feel you are sitting in reception.

The hotel is decent and clean. The location is OK - 10 minutes to the metro station.

The staff from the reception is rude (the maids, on the other hand, were excellent). To begin with, as the start of our stay was getting closer, I began receiving promotional emails from the hotel. What I wasn't told about was the general roadworks conducted in the very front of the hotel, starting at 7 AM (even on Saturday). Furthermore, upon our arrival at the hotel, the staff at the reception informed us (as it is usual) that they had to see our IDs. However, when we presented our national IDs (from a member state of the European Union), they told us that they could not use them to identify us (although any business in the EU is required by law to use EU IDs to identify citizens). When we asked for the reason why we had to also provide our passports, they laughingly invoked a technical issue, namely that the IDs would not fit in the scanner!!! (From what I know, it is also illegal to keep scans or copies of personal documents without properly informing the holders). We recommend that prospective guests be well informed about the future roadworks.

The ckeck in is very late. Of course, everything was anounced beforhand, it is on their page on Bookig, but still. I had an early flight, did not sleep all night and they told me the check in is after 2 PM. Good thing I have friends in Porto, I went to someone's home to get some rest. WARNING the rooms do not come with a bath as advertised. We complained, but after having my definition of "bath" being correct to mean "bathtub or shower" (which is a lie, Google it), it was revealed that only 2 rooms were equipped with baths in the 8-story hotel. The breakfast was very good. The location was in a nice area, close to our conference centre, very close to train and bus stations to visit the city as well.

Bed was two single beds put close to each other, so sleeping was not comfortable as a couple. There were no slippers in the room, and when I asked the reception, they said they don't have. Also, we asked them to reserve a taxi for us to go the airport and found out the next day that they didn't do that. They reserved the taxi at that moment and we had to wait 5 minutes for that to arrive. Thankfully there was enough time for our flight, but still I found it very disrespectful that they didn't do the reservation when asked.

We had an amazing stay in Porto! The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to assist us with our early arrival, making us feel truly welcome from the start. The value for money here is outstanding, offering an excellent balance of price and quality. Our room exceeded expectations—it was spacious, impeccably clean, and had a cosy, inviting atmosphere. The location was another highlight: it felt safe and was conveniently close to a metro station, making it easy to explore the city. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would highly recommend it!

The Wi-Fi was a bit slow, and there was no "do not disturb" sign in the room. While we could have requested one at reception, having it readily available would have been more convenient. These were minor issues, though, and we still highly recommend staying at Portus Cale!

The hotel was fabulous! It was even more luxurious than I had expected! The hotel is clean, elegant and sophisticated. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional. My room was very spacious and elegant. The bathroom was also huge! I stayed here for one night only, but I wish I could stay in the hotel forever! The breakfast was also a wonderful surprise - there were so many options to choose from.

The hotel is well located for our purposes. The room was pretty spacious, the beds - comfortable. The breakfast was well-suited to all ages – the presence of both savory and sweet options, combined with healthy choices like yogurt and fruit, meant everyone could find something they liked.

1. I missed the gym. 2. The cleanliness needs to be improved - I may have missed the hotel policy on cleaning but the floor in the room was not clean throughout our stay. I noticed dust bunnies collecting in the corner behind the entrance doo of the room, which indicated that the floor had not been vacuumed or mopped even prior to or during our stay. The dust buildup stayed there till the end of our stay.
