Quinta Das Murtas B&B is a charming spot with a traditional, old-fashioned feel that seems fitting for Sintra’s historic vibe. The host who checked us in was incredibly friendly and gave us helpful tips for exploring the area, which we really appreciated. The location is convenient to the village, although the walk back is a bit steep—something to keep in mind if you're not used to hills. Overall, we had a comfortable stay and it was a pleasant base for exploring Sintra.

Unbelievable value for money- it’s not 5 stars but you will struggle to find better at this price point.

The location of this nothing short than amazing guesthouse, left me in awe! I have never in all my years of travel been so welcomed and accommodated by Romulo the manager. I rescued a cat on Azores and was carrying him around Sintra. I had several days before departing back to the USA. He did everything in his power to make things easier on us. He even gave Azores a cat brush from his cat “Sushi”.
I will never forget his sincerity and helpfulness.
The breakfast was absolutely incredible and the building had so much character. I hope to come back to Sintra again one day and revisit.

Without directions ahead of time on how to find parking, especially arriving in the dark, I ended up traveling down a scary narrow path to the front desk area where two cars were parked. With no room to turn around, I had to back out through a narrow gate and do a lot of maneuvering to wind around the property to get to the gate to find parking. Knowing this ahead of time would have been very beneficial.

I am still debating if I liked the location or not. On the one hand, it was a remote, quiet location with enough parking and a nice backyard. On the other hand, it was far from restaurants and stores ( there were no tea/coffee in a room, it was long walk to go and buy something).

This hotel required a lot of small maintenance. I totally understand it is small hotel but it wouldn't cost too much to fix handle or make sure all bulbs are working.
There were no surface to put purse or backpack or jackets at the entrance or your washroom staff in a bathroom.
I wish we got parking instructions in advance. This is a hilly one way street and the parking lot is behind the hotel so we blocked the street until we got instructions.
There were only two chairs for four of us so we needed to request additional. No teaspoon, just one wine glass, couple small cups, etc.
There were ants in the room, quite a lot.

The property was lovely but our room was so tiny and not like what was pictured. The bed was very small and uncomfortable and it was so loud all night. There are fountains outside that make it sound like a downpour constantly and they occasionally flow harder and get louder. It made it very difficult to sleep as the window didn't seal well. They must be renovating outside because there was construction mess that distracted from the otherwise beautiful area. Staff was very nice. You have to check in before it's late though which was inconvenient. Close to everything in sintra though and charming- pool and hot tub were closed and maybe another room would be better.

We had a great price on a very clean room with 3 comfortable beds (2 in bedroom and one in the open area) and a kitchenette. Would be great for parents with a teen or a couple with another adult. Very spacious with a modern bath. 10 minute walk to the train station to catch inexpensive (but crowded) tour buses to see the sights. Restaurants are available there or walk a bit further into town for lots more choices. The breakfast room is lovely with good food choices at the buffet. Also has parking!

For a solo traveler with a big bag not recommended. There are lots of steps to climb.
The property closes its gates at night. Make sure you have the code to go out. I did not have a car, so I thought I wouldn't need it. But I had a Bolt driver picking me up to go to the airport at 3:00a.m. and I found myself locked in. I wished there was a paper at the reception with the door code to go out of the property. Thanks to my sister, who was staying at the same B & B and was having a rented car, was able to give me that information.

The property is very nice and neatly kept. The room was good, but simple. Big plus for having a bathtub. The breakfast in the morning was very comprehensive and tasty. Location is pretty good, about a 10 minute walk downhill to catch the bus to any of the sites or get an Uber.
We arrived past 3:30pm and our room was still not ready. No explanation was given, just that it was "nowhere near ready". They let us leave our bags and brought them to the room once it was ready while we were out exploring.
The walls are pretty thin and you can hear everything happening around you.

I got 2 rooms, and one of them didn't have a fan. Thankfully, leaving the windows open helped cool down the rooms for a great nights sleep.

The smell of mold and the old of the room. The receptionist was friendly and polite, providing us with a new room as soon as we mentioned the issue. However, unfortunately, the second room (which was itself a separate building) still had the same smell. Probably because of the old constructions and the fact that all the buildings are surrounded by trees and vegetation, which we loved, but at the same time, the walls are prevented from drying and from dissipating the smell of mold from both rooms.
I have to mention that, except for the smell, everything was nice and clean.

The staff is amazing, all the persons we talked to were really kind and really wanted to help us. As an example, when we indicated we would not take breakfast as we would leave the hotel really early, they kindly offered us to prepare us a breakfast and bring it to our room the night before. They also offered us a really nice restaurant recommendation (Incomum).
The hotel is an old house, a really beautiful place! It's perfectly located near the old town, the train station, and all the touristic spots from Sintra.
The room is not properly insulated, the first night, a family slept upstairs and were doing a lot of noise. We could not sleep, eventually, we knocked on their door and they immediately got quiet.,

This is a lovely historic BnB with lots of beauty, character and comfort. This is why we chose it. We were delighted that it is easy walking distance to both Historic Sintra, down a tree-lined lovely street next to Praca Libertad, as well as to the train station where are some great restaurants. There is ample parking on site which is a big advantage. The grounds are lovely, with a pond, gardens, pool and jacuzzi, nestled among old stone walls and and terraces. Our room in the historic house was lovely, with antique furniture, a comfy bed and great views of the hills and old buildings around. Joao, at the reception, was delightful and so helpful. He recommended his favorite restaurant which we went to both nights. We really loved staying in a historic building while staying in historic Sintra! We would definitely stay here again.
In addition to rooms in the historic house itself, there are several apartments that have been added to accomodate more guests. We were given one of these rooms when we arrived and were very disappointed. It had no character at all, and in fact seemed rather shabby. Although it had a kitchenette and could sleep 3 people, so for a family, it would be fine. However when we shared our disappointment with Joao, he promptly placed us in a lovely room in the house itself. So if you book a room here, specify where you would prefer to be. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with outdoor seating available. But breakfast itself was disapointing with stale cake and frozen croissants, scrambled eggs, slices of cheese and a bit of fruit. It was adequate but the coffee was really bad.
Once we were in a room in the house, our only complaint was the breakfast. Given that, we would definitely stay here again (just go elsewhere for coffee.)

The staff were all excellent, especially the gentleman who checked us in (I’m so sorry we didn’t get your name!). The house is beautiful and well kept. Such a historic old property in that climate is likely difficult to keep feeling fresh and dry but everything felt very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a great continental breakfast with a beautiful view.

Sintra is a very hilly town. So, walking around is not easy at all. But this is not why people come here. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Joao was especially helpful. Breakfast is OK.

Beautiful older building, well kept up. Centrally located within walking distance of historic area and Palais Regaleira (which is a must see!). Rooms basic but clean and modern bathroom. Staff were excellent - provided a breakfast to our room the day we were leaving early. Property beautiful - pool not open due to season.

-you can’t use the common lounge before 8.30 am and after 9 pm.People waiting for the breakfast in a small entrance standing.You can’t use outside patio either.After 9 pm you can stay in a small room where two people can barely move.First time I experience this type of setting.

The outside of the property is beautiful and there's parking within the hotel's grounds. I liked the breakfast as well-many options to choose from and beautiful seating areas.
The receptionist was not nice and was not friendly. Almost felt like he was doing us a favor by talking to us.
We got a room which was located right on the reception area, which felt to us like the worst in the property-When you open the window you are on the same level as the parking lot and people in the reception hall can look into your room. In the shower, you cannot open the window as it was facing the entrance door of the hotel.
We asked for another room instead but got no solution from the property.
The bed was a small Ikea bed which was terrible.
There's no coffee set in the room.
Access to the parking is not easy as it is in a very narrow road.
In addition, the receptionist asked us to move the car from the main entrance because someone needs to get out, due to this, we had to take the luggage all the way up from the lower parking lot, which is a lot of steps to climb with suitcases.
Feels too expensive to get this kind of value.
Don't be fooled by the rooms' pictures here, it looks much worse.

We needed a place to stay that had parking. Main house in photos looked nice
Room was in an annex, parts were dingy, old carpet pieces, old towels. Definitely not worth the $ we paid. Earliest breakfast slot available is 8:30 so could be troublesome if you had a later time and were hoping to get started with your day.

Our garden apartment was a great size with a gorgeous view. The beds were very comfy (not hard like a lot of other places), the water pressure in the shower was fantastic, and we all slept really well. Breakfast was very nice with a large variety and great coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had to go ask for towels, but this was simply an oversight and was immediately remedied.

We were surprised that we couldn't have breakfast until 9. Our train was leaving at 9 so breakfast wasn't available. They did agree to leave some in our room tho. Unfortunately the bread was blue mold and no coffee or tea.
