A lovely colorful small Inn that is just bursting with character and artful touches. it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Located just a few minutes by foot to the historic quarter and principal restaurant areas. Some reviews commented on the train noise. We did not find it to be bothersome. Since the windows are dual lane and our room was climate controlled, the occasional passing trains did not bother. a lovely balcony and view. abundant free parking immediately adjacent to the hotel and also very near the hotel about a block away.
Small’ish 135cm bed and no power outlets near the bed for use of bed stand appliances. No tea or coffee provided for the kettle and cups in the room. This would’ve been a nice touch given that there are no breakfast places within a few blocks and wasn’t available at the property during the dates of our visit.

Sebastao is a good host with high standards. The room we had was his best with a nice little balcony looking out to the river and a quiet road. Very clean. Excellent breakfast served with a smile. There is a train that passes on the bridge overhead every 1/2 hour to an hour which gives 3 seconds of noise. It stops after midnight until 7am. Not a problem for us. Easy and pleasant walk of only a few minutes to the centre of town. We recommend a stay here.
Don’t like shower curtains. Cling to you when showering in a small cubicle.

I liked the place a lot. It is a vila decorated with the perfection by the owner, who is an amazing artist and a very good host. It has a beautiful garden , the swimingpool with salty water, it is in a peaceful area in the centre of Tavira. What else to wish for a nice and comfortable getaway? Yes, it is next to the railway bridge , but the train goes maybe every 1 hour during the day. Still ok. It only contributes to the charm of this place and gives the avangard touch to its incredible design.

A charming property with a very creative feel.
Brilliantly located, only a short walk into Tavira town.
It felt like a home from home, we were left to relax, which we did. Sebastiao gave us a warm welcome, he was very kind and he was able to suggest good places to visit.
The property has a beautiful pool which we had to ourselves one afternoon.
We walked to the ferry each day, probably 10 mins and then a 20 min boat ride to a lovely beach.
There is a train line close to the property, however, the train only passes once an hour and does not run between 1am and 7am. I can honestly say it didn’t bother us at all.
We hope to visit again one day which is something I don’t usually say!

Location close to the centre of Tavira. Nice garden and a salt water pool with wooden loungers but plastic covers.
Some of the photos on booking.com are not reflective of the property now. There is no reception or communal area. You have to walk into town to buy drinks and food. We arrived after a long journey - not even a bottle of water and the fridge in the room wasn’t even plugged in. We were then given a long list of rules - including how to use a drinking glass! The owner lives downstairs and rents the 3 bedrooms above. We asked for an extra pillow because we had one very small one each but he didn’t have any. Told us to use a knitted cushion instead. The bed covers are woolly and don’t get washed in between stays - you get a view of the washing. Read the small print as there is no cleaning - fresh towels on a chair outside on day 4 and that is it. No kettle, just a glass each that is not changed so is grubby. Balcony would have a nice view of river but has canvas ‘sails’ over which flap in the wind all night. Main issue was electricity went off on 2 nights so no lights or air con and impossible to open windows due to flapping noise and a door that couldn’t be secured open. The lights were on all around but owner said it was a surge that had happened. The second night he admitted it was a trip switch within the building and decided to investigate by knocking on guest doors to accuse people of using hairdryers or travel adapters in the middle of the night! He knocked us up and then walked straight into our bedroom without asking when it was clear we had just been woken by him as we had been awake most of the night. Contacted customer services - nothing was resolved and this made the owner aggressive and I couldn’t relax after this. All he is interested in is his booking scores and pesters guests about this. People are frightened to leave a bad review due to the responses they will get.
We found alternative accommodation for the last night and finally relaxed.

This place operates on a reduced service capacity. This is exactly how we like our accommodation to be. Therefore, there is less fuss and a feeling of a home from home here.
Sebastian was very helpful and was forthcoming with lots of useful information on check-in.
The place is quiet, the passing trains never bothered us as they are very infrequent.
Overall a quirky spot, 3mins walk to the centre where we had breakfast every morning. We struck luck while in Tavira and enjoyed a local food festival which brought a great buzz about the place.

It would be nice to be able to make a cup of tea or coffee as there are no cafes close by. So it is definitely no frills but that is reflected in the price of the room.

Excellent location for exploring Tavira, situated just south of the river on the western edge. The rooms were very clean and presented in a classic Portuguese style with lots of artwork. The beds were very comfortable, the Aircon was very strong and capable of cooling the room very quickly. The small fridge was useful for storing food and drinks and made good ice cubes in the freezer compartment. The seawater pool was a particular highlight, being very clean and just the right temperature for cooling off at the end of the day. Sebastiao was friendly and welcoming and left us alone to enjoy our holiday. Parking spaces are minimal but we never had a problem parking.
The lack of a kettle to make tea and coffee was a frustration, we asked for one but we're told they were no longer supplied due to stains caused by past residents. We worked around this by buying chilled coffee and energy drinks to keep in the fridge, both equally capable of causing stains and neither as enjoyable. This policy needs a rethink.

The location is very convenient, only a 5m walk to the centre. There is free car park next to the guesthouse. It looks very nice with all the greens and the plants.
It was not really our taste; few facilities, basic and not very personal. Check in done very fast, the host suggested a restaurant but did not recall the name. We paid € 130,- for which you might expect coffee and tea facilities, a bottle of water in the room or a glass of wine upon arrival or something welcoming. Remember there is no breakfast available. That is als clearly listed in the description, but it means you need to add another € 20,- or so as you take breakfast in town. It all felt a bit loveless. What really put us off were the reactions of the host on reviews that he did not appreciate; reviews are a valuable source of feedback for any company and a reason to give your former guest a kick in the back. We found this out only when we checked in, otherwise we would not have booked here.
In the essence it is a nice property with much potential but it did no do it for us.

Easy check in and check out. Fabulous location right on the riverside and 3 to 4 minute walk to town. Gorgeous pool area for relaxing. Great host, who spoke excellent English. Detailed meet and greet but then left in peace and quiet to enjoy the property. The property is authentic in design and beautifully decorated with lots of original art work. The host tells everybody about the railway line which runs above the garden and I can honestly say this didn´t disturb us in the slightest.
A little bit of storage in the bathroom would have been useful, but it in no way affected our appreciation of the property.

Sebastio, the owner of the hotel, is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean with all basic amenities. The pool is excellent; we spent 2 afternoons relaxing and destressing. As it is a small adult only hotel there was no disruption. The Tavira Inn is located 10 mins from Tavira's Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and shops. It is located beside a river and a bridged train track; providing idlyic views. We had a wonderful stay.
It was a quaint and cosy hotel. Perfect for chilling. It should be noted there was no food or drink provided however cafes are nearby and it was still possible to drink by the pool with plastic cups.

The saltwater pool was like floating in the dead sea , very relaxing and quiet, all restaurants and cafes were no more than a 3-5 min walk away.

We loved our stay. Was very relaxed and pool area was fantastic. Great host who wants everyone to enjoy his property and Tavira. Not having breakfast meant we had time to visit local cafes and explore Tavira before it got too hot, which turned out to be a real benefit. Room great with terrace. Loved Tavira ❤️

It was a very clean, nice property with a great location. Our host,Sebasteo , was very informative about the local area and the history of Casa de Rio. The pool and patio area are very pleasant and welcome on a hot day.
There is a policy of no kettle allowed in rooms. This was a huge minus for our stay. There are cafes within easy walking distance, but at 6/7 am in the morning , sat on your balcony with no tea/coffee was not what I expected. This policy will need changing to make us ever think of going back.

Beautiful property with super balcony great location Sebastian the owner was extremely pleasant and hands on lovely sea water pool not much to complain about trains passing by were very infrequent and didn’t disturb us much and actually added bit character.
Hopefully will return in future thanks Sebastian.
Just no kettle to make tea or coffee but it was explained that the floor tile’s extremely porous and stains difficult to remove should spillages occur etc but not really a big deal tbh.

Property has a lot of quirky charm. Good location , 10 minutes walk to centre of town. Nice little balcony area off the room. Parking just outside the property. Good comfortable mattress.
We had one tiny very thin flat pillow each so asked for another. Were told there was only one pillow per guest? Were promised cushions instead but these were never received. Had to sleep with towels under pillows.

A truly unique stay. Some might say quirky, or bohemian. We liked it very much.
Bed and shower on the small side, but more than adequate. We stayed for 8 nights and maybe felt the need of a little more luxury by the end. But that's being really picky.

A wonderful bohemian feel with fabulous artwork. Obviously the owner has a great eye for design . Fabulous pool . Charming friendly host.
Would loved to have had coffee making facilities or at least a kettle to boil water.
Shower also needs to be updated. Not a fan of plastic shower curtains in a small shower recess.

The sheets are very old . I will suggest to change all the bedding for new ones .

Owner was there to greet us at checkin. Lovely hotel with parking next door. Beautiful garden and pool. Our room had a great outdoor terrace with a view overlooking the river. It is next to a train track, and when they go by it is very loud, but it's only for less than 10 seconds (seriously the sound just comes on quick and then it goes away just as quick), and they don't run often and not between 11:00pm and 7:00am. Not a big deal AT ALL.
Great location just a short walk from the center and the ferry that takes you to the Isle da Tavira. We loved it!

Close to the bus station and town. We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely time in Tavira, which is a beautiful little town. I have a few small comments which may help others when booking. Our room was on the second floor and we struggled with carting luggage up and down as there is no lift. The bed was too small for us (not their fault) as I didn't realise this when we booked. The manager was very friendly and can't fault the service.
Would have liked a TV in the room, the stairs are difficult to navigate on the higher levels. There is no room service but a little restaurant next door that opens for coffee around 10am.
