The location is very peaceful, set in the hills some distance away from the main village centre. The resort is spilit on 2 levels with plenty of recreation and greenery. Breakfasts were pretty varied, there are a number of restaurants and bars onsite.
Distance from the airport (3hours) so takes up half a day getting there and getting back. The restaurant was over priced and the variety wasn't great. There were bugs in the room. Mosquito repellent was provided but only 1 tab for the trip.

Pimalai was my favourite stay in Thailand. The meticulous attention to detail, the attentive customer service and their amazing location with exclusive access to their beach made this stay very special and a once in a lifetime experience for us.
I would really recommend their airport transfer option as it is extraordinarily smooth and stress free!

Amazing resort for a relaxing family holiday. 2 bed Pool Villa was amazing, great for tweens/young teens. The resort is big so always feels empty in the communal areas and not over crowded. Beach area was nice, as was the main pool. Great breakfast and also sundowners in the happy hour at the Heritage Bar or beach bar.
Lunch and Dinners are a little pricey as you are slightly captive. But decent options for the kids. At peak times, the buggy wait can be a little long.

We loved everything about our stay. The resort was fantastic, the spa was excellent, and me and my best friend had the time of our lives. We genuinely enjoyed the food (expecially the fact that they had daily specials at each restaurant) and the staff was so friendly and helpful!
The gym was not outstanding, but it did have the basic stuff to get in a good workout (cardio machines, free weights and some combined gym machines)
Despite the fact that they had the best eggs I’ve seen in a resort (excellent eggs benedict, omelettes, scrambled eggs etc), the breakfast was only a 9/10 for me (which is the only complaint I am able to make).

We had a villa with a plunge pool and it was fabulous! It was exceptionally clean, spacious and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. This was such a relaxing room and patio with a gorgeous view of the water. We chose the hillside villa. It is a bit of a walk to the beach, but they pick you up in golf cart any time you call. They are really quick to come too. The breakfast was great every day. They have a buffet, and you can also order off of the menu. The eggs benedict was exceptional. An added bonus is being able to easily walk into to town via the beach to go to restaurants, bars and 7-11. This gives you the best of both worlds - luxury resort with great restaurants and inexpensive local establishments. We will being staying here again!
We love seeing wildlife and had daily visits by monkeys on our balcony. However, keep the doors locked even when you are on the balcony as the monkeys will open the door even with you sitting there. I always had my room key on me and made sure to lock doors. As long as you do that, you'll be okay. If you do have an issue with a monkey getting in your room, the staff will come get it out.

We love this place, and the location is truly unique. We had a wonderful time and celebrated my partner’s birthday in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
This is our second visit since January 2019. The hotel is well-maintained, but the effects of depreciation and COVID are noticeable. Many things feel outdated, and it lacks the charm it once had. Stuff is very welcoming and trying hard but Pimalai is not the place it was before. I would best rate experience as 4* at max, the place screams for renovation. If it happens we would come again.

Fantastic view from our private villa, incredibly attentive and friendly staff, amazing breakfast spread with the best French toast we’ve ever had, complimentary speedboat transfer to the hotel, the ability within walking distance to go to outside bars and restaurants if you want get some cheaper food, extremely quick response time to inquiries and requests, a huge amount of privacy in the villa as the distance to any neighbors is quite large
The only thing that could be improved is the water temperature of the pool. Since the weather wasn’t that great the pool was actually quite cool, a heated pool would be nice here.

The resort wasn't too busy. They were able to pay special attention to all their guests. The breakfast is fresh and scrumptious! Pimalai really pays attention to every single thing. The room was clean and so comfortable, the pool areas are well kept and the staff continues to pay attention to your needs at all times. Fresh and cold water is readily available to quench your thirst, and watermelon and pineapple is served throughout. Pimalai is truly an experience!!

Everything was sparkling clean. The staff was amazing—attentive and thoughtful. The beach was wide, with comfortable sunbeds, and the seashore was clean with almost no people, even in high season. It was great to have free beach activities.
Overall, there were so many nice details—like water refills on the beach, flowers on the bed in the evening, and the hotel's signature mist before departure. We had a wonderful 5 days at Pimalai, and it was really difficult to move to another place after experiencing such a high level of service. :)
Disclaimer- we still give this place a 10 so below are just suggestions - and not even close to make it a 9.
1. Gym weights/cable machines can be more new - I think they have not been changed since hotel opening ( they are becoming a bit old / don’t have labels on them of corresponding weights)
2. Husband has a food poisoning during our stay (I don’t think it was hotel fault in any way) - hotel didn’t have basics like thermometer in aid kid. I think hotel of this level should have one :)
3. Updating some of the rooms with newer power sockets that would have usb / type C would be good

My wife and I were both very impressed with the Hotel location, the quality of the facilities and the super friendly, helpful staff. We eat in all of the restaurants and tried a wide variety of the menus on offer each one was excellent in it's own way. The rooms are slightly older and the windows in the properties are single glazed; this means the rooms can get very hot and you can hear the outside noises easily. The resort is very quiet so it’s not a massive issue however if you like your room to be cold we struggled to get ours to below 22 degrees. The gym isn’t huge for the size of the hotel.
Some of the sun beds round the pool do not go totally flat, meaning it’s difficult to lie on your front.

The hotel is on a beautiful stretch of beach and the resort is barely noticeable spread up the hill behind it. Both pools offer amazing views of the beach and/or sea and the grounds and gardens are immaculately maintained. Our beachside room was lovely and large enough for us to really relax. Although the property is large buggy rides can be requested and our request to go to breakfast at the top of the resort was met without delay. All in all a very relaxing stay at the end of a 3 week holiday around Thailand and we have no complaints about anything. The pick up and arrival by speedboat was also a great holiday experience.

The lush surroundings, the understated luxury, the amazing staff who really want you there. Shout out to Am who worked the front desk - she was amazing and worked hard to ensure I had a wonderful experience.
Very hard to find something not to like. The spa’s jungle jacuzzi was closed for maintenance which was a bummer. They said it was due to heavy rain in the off season causing delays. Overall the property is very well maintained but some areas are starting to show a bit of age. The resort has invested - such as a new Heritage restaurant space.

What an incredible place in paradise! From the moment you are picked up till the moment they drop you off, every aspect of Pimalai is so well curated with your happiness in mind.
The airport transfer is seamless and stress free. The check in experience is so welcoming, with fresh wet towels, tea, and all the friendly staff one could ask for.
I really enjoyed the small touches, all the thoughtful small things they do to make their guests comfortable. Such as unlimited ice water (delivered to you at your sun lounger) when at the pools or the beach. While I never saw a mosquito in our room, they do provide mosquito repellent machines in the rooms. During our welcome, we were given spa vouchers because we were staying for several days (for us, one week). Upon arriving to our room, there was a welcome plate of fruit and fresh coconuts!
Every treatment we got at the spa was excellent. Our favourite: the Aromatic Oil massage
The fitness center was so well-equipped, maintained, and spotlessly clean. There was even a jug of ice water infused with aromatics (lime, lemongrass, cucumber, mint, etc) available too. Made the gym feel very elite and spa-like.
The restaurants were a surprising bonus. I assumed we would be venturing out into the town for meals often, but the quality of food was wonderful. Our favorites were the All You Can Eat Surf & Turf night and the BBQ night, both at their Rak Talay beach restaurant.
The included breakfast buffet was especially surprising. They had so many different options, from western to Asian and all kinds of sweets. Loved the fresh fruit and fresh squeezed fruit juices! I was especially impressed with the abundance of it all. Breakfast was from 6:30-10:30AM and even at 10:24AM I saw employees refilling everything, including tall plates of bacon.
Overall the staff very much care about your satisfaction. They will go above and beyond to clear any problems or miscommunications. It’s rare to see this level of service.
