The hotel was in an excellent location in Birmingham New Street. Convenient and well laid out, easy to find my room. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The is a carpark.
The carpark is absolutely tiny and a little challenging to get into - especially in a bigger car. It's in the basement round the back of Chinatown and under the hotel so it stinks.
The rooms are tiny, and given I paid over £100 for the night, I thought I'd have a little more space - I felt it was quite overpriced.
Breakfast was a little ropey... Not a huge selection of food, but enough to make a decent meal.
The breakfast room was over powered by the smell of cheap toilet cleaner

In a nutshell, we liked everything. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were comfortable, everything was clean. The breakfast was adequate with a fair amount of choice.
I wouldn't say dislike, but unfortunately there were not many parking spaces available as some were being used for storage, also the carpark was very tight. If we had a large car or estate, there might have been a problem in parking the vehicle.

The shower door didn't close properly letting water onto the bathroom floor. Could have done with a bath mat or a second hand towel to put down to stop it spreading. Could have done with a brighter light over the mirror over the dressing table.

1. Staff at the reception.
I had a very disappointing experience at check-in. Despite having completed the online check-in the day before (which should have made the process quick and easy), the receptionist insisted on seeing my ID and asked for my reservation number. While I was trying to find the email with the number, she suddenly confirmed my booking herself — which means she already had my details in the system all along. It felt unnecessarily difficult and unfriendly. Her attitude was cold and unwelcoming, with no smile or basic courtesy. This was not the kind of hospitality I expected, and it left a very poor first impression of the hotel.
2. One of the two lifts in the building was out of order.
Considering the hotel has 159 rooms, that’s completely unacceptable. The remaining lift was constantly overcrowded — often packed with guests or hotel staff and cleaning carts — so I had to wait ages just to get up or down. It became a daily frustration and felt more like staying in a busy dormitory than in a proper hotel.
3. I couldn’t open the window.
It was blocked by some sort of safety cable, leaving no way to get fresh air.
It made the room feel stifling and added to the overall sense of discomfort during my stay.
4. Dirty carpets in the corridors.
The carpets on the corridor at the 3rd floor were TERRIBLY dirty, heavily stained, worn out, and looked like they hadn’t been replaced or properly cleaned in years!
5. Cleaning staff rude and unprofessional.
I needed some additional toilet paper, so I left my room to go to the reception to ask for it. On my way, I saw a cleaner in the corridor and asked if she has some spare toilet rolls. She reacted very abruptly, shouting for my room number without any greeting or acknowledgment. After I told her my room number, she handed me the toilet roll without a single word or even looking at me. Terrible experience!

There were no bowls on the table at breakfast. I had to wait over an hour for my evening meal because of a mistake when I ordered. The wrong beer was poured for me. The bed quilt was too thin. The heating was efficient but noisy, so I had to turn it off at night, so then I was cold.

The location is absolutely great. A few minutes walking from the Central station, from Moor street station, from a mall and 10mins walking to every attraction like Victoria square, the library and the canals. It's situated in a vivid area (China town) with a lot of dinning options, feels safe but quiet.

Our room was rather tiny but absolutely worthy for the price. There's a TV, desk, wardrobe, extra pillows, hairdryer. The bathroom looked modern despite being tiny and was very clean. Room windows were openable without any danger for getting though them and having fresh air is a rare option in hotels.
The staff were kind and in the same time not really in your way.

Room was very comfy and coffee facilities, towels and detergents all great too. Can't really fault this. Good thing as well is the fact that the taxi can reach in front of the hotel, unlike the ones in New Street.
