Myself and my young Son being woken up numerous times by extremely drunk inconsiderate guests stumbling to their rooms, shouting, arguing and being generally noisy along the Corridore outside my room to the point that my Son actually became frightened and whom wasn't once approached by any Hotel staff and asked to be quiet

Staff generally good - hotel was very large - good location, 20 min walk to tower or 2 mins to tram.

So noisy - guests were a joke, shouting right through to 6am and so much corridor movement, this was May, dread to think what it’s like in summer. Everything was quite tired and in need of a refresh. Cleanliness not great, in both rooms and common areas - a bit like the town itself!! Info in room says breakfast at 7:30, both mornings we and others were downstairs at this time and absolute minimal food available, almost like staff were still in bed, upon checking out the signage at reception said 8am for breakfast, be useful for the hotel to agree the timing with itself!!

The main reception and hallways are decorated nicely. Lifts work well. Great coffee machine in the room. In a nice, quiet location. Could hear people through the night and kept getting woken up.

It doesn’t really look like it does on the website. We had a chair in our room that had a really dirty stain on and an awful BO smell. We had to ask staff to try and get rid of the smell.

Lovely rooms. Fabulous value for money. Car parking is convenient and competitive price.

The room was clean, however the fridge hadn’t been emptied from previous guests. Had to turn fridge off during the night cos it was really loud. We paid for a late check out (12pm) but got woken up at 10.30 by the cleaning staff. They did apologise for the error but it was abit annoying when we’d paid extra for the late check out. Staff on the desk are quite slow so took an unnecessary long time to check in or make an enquiry. We also fancied a drink at the bar before our booked meal out of the hotel but no staff were around so we didn’t bother. Shame really.

Stayed here before and always found it ok. Poor on this occasion

We stayed in room 224, curtains didn't fit across the window and let light in. Carpet in room hadn't been hoovered, room advertised as having a hairdryer, we didn't have one. We had a drink in the bar and the bar person kept disappearing to work in the Restaurant. We witnessed guests at least 8 waiting to be served for 20 minutes but left. We were going to stay for another drink but decided to leave as well as again no bar staff present.

The location of this hotel is good, but my experience with cleanliness was very poor.

They did not clean the room during my stay. I stayed for three days with my children and requested cleaning several times, but it was not done. I was told that cleaning is only provided after four days, which doesn’t make sense for shorter stays. I have asthma, and due to the lack of cleaning, my allergy started after the first day. Despite informing them, no action was taken. They also do not provide water bottles—you have to buy them yourself. I don’t understand why rooms are cleaned after checkout, but not during a guest’s stay. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not book it again.

Wasn’t the cleanest. On the surface the room looked ok, pull back the curtain to look at the sea view to see more dust than imaginable on top of the radiator. Unable to open the screwed up window. Same price for all additional nights, but no tea/coffee, biscuits or bottled water for the additional nights stay or housekeeping. Guests have to go to reception for their clean towels and toilet roll. Dining room extremely disorganised. Always someone needed to ask for something, spoons, teabags, mugs.

I stayed here twice last year and enjoyed my stay so much. I recommended it to my partner, and we chose to come back and stay again. My partner hadn't been here before, but he has thoroughly enjoyed our stay and has already said that he would definitely come back and would stay here again.. I love staying at The Grand Hotel, and we will definitely be back again. The location was perfect for us, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay .

Good price, comfortable beds, staff made conversation and were helpful. Greeted well on an arrival. Breakfast was nice with a good selection.

Rooms were clean however noticed a lot of dust above the windows and down the sides of the window walls and on the light bulbs, lime scale on the sink taps and shower, funny drain smell coming from bathroom sink. I understand the hotel is very big and they probably have a strict time schedule but these are things which people notice. The tap flow in bathroom sink was ridiculous so washing hands and brushing teeth was slow. Rooms were comfortable but just feel they need updating. One thing that did frustrate me was the fact you have to book to use the swimming pool and slots are limited- which is fine but I got to impression it was accessible at all times and I did feel this should be communicated either at check in or in the information booklet. Whilst down at the leisure centre, beside the lift is a table and I noticed a lot of cigarette ends in the centre of it.

Not much- location was about it as well as onsite parking for a fee.

Noisy with so many loud people smoking at all hours, slamming doors and talking loudly, cigarette smell everywhere and had to place a towel under the door, not vacuumed properly, pillows not supportive, onsite restaurant was lacking in quality or variety of choices for dinner even though you pay upfront at reception to be told there were 3 choices only and the choices were reheated or microwaved frozen dinners. There was only one wait staff on duty for bar and restaurant.

Huge, grand entrance, clean and comfortable.

The breakfast was awful. It was inedible. Dry sausage, flattened thin bacon kept at temp so even the crispy parts had reabsorbed the grease. For £12 I expected something I could eat. Got woken up an hour before check out by the housekeeping manager who didn’t say what she wanted, just that she would come back later. Frustrating as I needed to push my sleep as late as possible and was even hoping to have a late checkout.

The window in the bedroom was excessively covered in bird muck, perhaps tricky to clean as the window was secured so as to not open more fully and perhaps they do clean the windows regularly but perhaps should be more closely inspected and acted upon more quickly to clean the window as it's the view that makes the whole stay in the room more enjoyable as looking out the window because of the great view is an important part of the stay, it was the view that swayed my decision to stay there again, would otherwise happily stay there again someday, very pleasant, helpful staff and great value for the room !

Sometines not enough staff to cope with demand. Nothing to be done, but the rooms have thin walls, take your earplugs as you can hear your neighbours, especially with connected door rooms, plus the usual folk talking loudly in the corridor. Breakfast and evening meal ok @ £10/£12 for three courses but get there early. It has a feel of a hotel run on a very tight budget but if you’re after cheap accommodation, it does the job.

We had to do a little bit of cleaning in our room as there was still false nails and sweet rubbish on the floor and what looked like someone had spat or sneezed on the tv screen but I do understand that it’s a massive place and the cleaners probably don’t have a lot of time
