Few people in the restaurant and pudding wasn't available alternative cheesecake was still partially frozen. The waitress who wasn't that attentive or cheerful stated when l said that it could be defrosted rather rudely said no we can't do that you can have an alternative. She stated that l had said it was tastless, implying why would l want another one!! I retorted that was because it was still frozen. To prevent any more of her irritation l had the sticky toffee pudding. We felt the hotel lacked atmosphere apart from the friendliness of the receptionist on our arrival and departure, there was little interaction with staff

The Hotel was lovely, and very clean. We were especially happy with a spotless bathroom and starched linens, the bed was very comfortable, we were able to totally darken the room at night. It was wonderful.
The staff is very accommodating, for example they opened the bar for us after 9pm. Breakfasts were very tasty.
The village of St. Agnes is lovely and has beach access. From here we also toured to Lands End and Minack Theatre, it was fine. We wished we had spent three nights instead of two. A very nice hotel which we highly recommend.

Excellent lady on reception who did lunchtime bar duty and served the breakfast.
For the price charged I would have expected more choice at breakfast with better quality ingredients. It would have been nice to have had some other snacks or sandwiches available for lunch, rather than crisps. Breakfast room was cold. It seems the place is run on a shoestring. A water heating boost for the outdoor pool would have been nice, as solar just doesn't deliver.

Our room was very pleasant, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the lady was very friendly and helpful.
We had enquired about bringing our little dog, but were told we would have to pay an extra £90 (then £80) for a dog friendly room, on top of £197 already paid. Also, when asked if we could check in early to change for a wedding, an extra £30 was suggested, so we changed in the toilets. Seems a bit excessive!

No refrigerator in room and only milk available was skimmed milk- and only option for a coffee with full cream Milk in the morning was to either pay 20 pounds for a full breakfast eventhough i only wanted coffee or drive 6 miles into town for a morning coffee. They wouldnt just charge me for a coffee, which is not a customer focussed policy.

Rose in Vale is exactly as described - a country house hotel, so we weren't expecting spa's and saunas etc. although there is a delightful pool in the garden which is very relaxing and tranquil. Our room was very clean and comfortable with exceptionally good beds. Being in a shaded vale (hence the name) it was a little dark so we needed the lights on to read. There is some lovely, if unusual artwork dotted throughout the place and all the little 'snugs' and lounges were filled with comfy leather sofas so it would be lovely in front of the fire on a winter's evening. The grounds are superb and very well kept without being formal. Everywhere, both inside and out, had an 'easy' feeling about it. The staff, especially Clare and Sophie, were really friendly and helpful and we would not hesitate to recommend RiV for a child-free couples break at any time of the year.
Can't see the need for background music (but that's just a personal choice)

A fine old building in impressive grounds in a lovely, quiet location. The room was perfectly clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable, and serviced daily.. Breakfast was excellent, as were the bar meals in the lovely little snug in the evening and the sound of the owls in the small hours was wonderful and far better than the sound of the delivery truck. And Sophie was outstanding.
Could have done with a little more cold water pressure and not overjoyed with the mixer-tap shower but it was adequate.

The room was very clean.
We paid £150 plus for room only in September, which I thought was on the steep side but the reviews were good.
Breakfast was £20 a head and not very tasty.
The bed was small (4’6”) which these days is not really acceptable-the room would have been large enough for a larger bed. The TV was awkwardly placed for viewing. The duvet was cheap and synthetic and could do with replacing.
I really was quite disappointed and feel the hotel could really do with refurbishment.
