The room was small but clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent — definitely a highlight.
However, our night was interrupted by two fire alarms during the night, which was quite a shock and made it impossible to get any proper rest. No explanation was given other than that “the smoke detectors are very sensitive.”
A shame, as everything else about the stay was lovely — but it certainly wasn’t a restful night.

Checked in by Zack who gave outstanding service! Zack checked 2 pieces of luggage and then carried the remainder of the luggage to our room where he showed us the amenities and explained that everything in the room was complimentary. including the beer in the fridge.
The room was lovely! Well-appointed with better than hotel grade linens, a spacious bathroom with top of the line toiletries.
We had dinner at the hotel and then the next morning had the full English breakfast which we had paid for in advance (we highly recommend both).
Table service was impeccable. The wait staff in the morning are worth mentioning. A wonderful sense of humor and catered to our every need.
The White Star write up was careful to list that the location was near the Cruise Port but would be difficult to walk to with luggage. Zack took our request for a taxi for the morning of our departure. The taxi driver gave exceptional service at a very reasonable rate as well as text confirmation of our travel plans and then again upon the taxi arrival at the hotel. Extraordinary service!
We truly enjoyed our visit at the White Star and hope to return someday for a longer stay.
We had no concerns or complaints about our stay.

It’s our silver wedding anniversary trip and we were given a fabulous room with a card inviting us to have a drink - a lovely touch before our voyage on QM2. We would highly recommend this lovely hotel. We had a great meal last night and the bed was very comfortable.

The staff are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble. Every morning you were greeted cheerfully by Jack and Odessa {I really hope I spelt that correctly} The breakfast choice was staggering. The cooked breakfasts were always well presented and tasty. Room cleaning was very good. The location really suited us, just off the main shopping centre, close to several very good restaurants and a 5 minute walk from central hall.
Small things! The toilet roll holder fell off the wall and was not replaced, just removed. The coffee bags were well out of date, I appreciate that they were being discontinued but!
