Lobby bar and breakfast room poorly designed cold corporate no warmth in style or atmosphere unlike rooms - but this is typical of modern French decoration, which is clinical and ultra modern but little warmth. Gym was decent but a little small for the size of the hotel and lacked enough space for they have a morning periods when there are a lot of people there are particularly areas to stretch and do yoga, etc., and not enough mats for that. They have more than enough room to reconfigure the gym to make it larger. The one glaring insufficiency was that there were no bathrooms in the bar or breakfast room or restaurant on the first floor– you had to walk up to the second floor and find your way around a warren of corridors and also have a room key on you to use the bathroom if you’re on the main floor at the bar or restaurant or checking in or checking out – absurd - but other than that a solid hotel well maintained also.

The location was perfect

The concierge who checked me in was almost as rude as can be because he couldn't find my name. Basically, ask my name I told him he also had my ID in his hand and said I was not in the system. Kinda a booking fault because my first and last names are backward. Anyway, he asked for a confirmation number I began to tell him and he looked at me as if I was lying and asked to see it for himself. I didn't let it spoil my day he just needs some customer training I'm a paying customer not looking for anything free just respect. Like I was below him. But I will not stay here again it's thousands of hotels that will appreciate my money.

The Front Desk was super welcoming and communicative, and the location was perfect for us. The details of the room were appreciated, and all requests were made in a timely and helpful manner. Of note - I liked the number of elevators. We never had to wait for one long or crowd into them.

The room was stuffy., unfortunately. The weather had changed very quickly from cold to hot, and I think the HVAC system was trying to catch up.

The location was perfect. Some of the staff weren’t very friendly. I asked for too sheet and the front desk was condescending to me about the European way. I understood all that, I’m just hot natured and wanted the sheet.

What a terrible service. I wonder whether the management changed... I stayed in this hotel twice before, and at Sofitels around the world many times, and love the brand (usually). This hotel used to be very nice, and great service. Not this time. They don't even bother to reply to any messages - not to the messages through the app, not to Booking.com messages, not to direct messages to concierge. And a wrongful, totally unfair charge. And a rude reservations line. Scott, the front desk manager on duty, promised to fix the wrongful charge, but was also very unfriendly and did not do what he promised. This used to be a magical place for my daughter and me before, what a profound disappointment this time.

It's a very good hotel located in the North area of downtown. We wanted to explore that area and the location was perfect for it. The room was clean with a spacious bathroom and comfy bed. Our room was cleaned right after the first night. It was a nice surprise because all our stuff was put nicely away. There is a parking lot right next to the hotel, but it's full all the time. You need to get an app like SpotHero and book your spot, which we did. The price was much cheaper than if we would pay for valet parking. Also, the area, Sofitel is located, has tons of restaurants, cafes, and shopping stores. If you want to explore the North part of Chicago, I would highly recommend staying at Sofitel.

I stayed there before, I liked the location and the amenities etc.

Our experience at Sofitel was disappointing. The bathroom shower was full of short, curly hairs, and they were sticky. The floor was also dirty, and we didn’t have any slippers provided. While housekeeping cleaned it promptly after we called, it was already too late to make a good first impression. They offered free valet parking for the day to make up for it. Additionally, we had a room with double beds, but one of the mattresses was sagging, making it uncomfortable. This was unexpected for a hotel of this standard.

The bar lighting at night could be more intimate. The lights were much too bright. We ordered a drink, only to receive a modified version. It would have been nice to know that. It was fine, just not the expectation.

The property was amazing! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and were shown the ultimate levels of hospitality. The location is GREAT because it is central to shopping areas and so many attractions. I travel quite a bit and by far Sofitel had the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! The staff showed us every courtesy and made us so comfortable. The boxed water stocked in our fridge everyday was an appreciated touch. The stay was so wonderful it was lamentable to leave. I will be staying here every time I visit Chicago!

There was a rolled up wad of tissue or something in my bed. Disgusting. Also coffee at 5:30 am in lobby wasn’t ready. Had to ask for milk instead of half&half. Was made to feel like a major inconvenience.
