We saw some cockroaches in our apartment, the toilet clogged a few times and itโs really close to the freeway so for light sleepers can be a problem.

We arrived after dark. Light was out by exterior entrance to room. Needed to use flashlight to see the door. Updates needed as balcony doors did not lock.
Level of cleanliness was okay, tv remotes were dirty. I sanitized them.

The apartment was clean.
Noise, road noise from adjacent highway is a major problem, continuous, prevent enjoyment and sleep. Noise from the ac unit prevents peaceful use of the balcony unless it is turned off but that then is a problem with heat in the apartment. The washing machine and dryer are old and out dated and should be replaced. The wardrobe in one room was missing a sliding door. The information for the WiFi provided at check in was incorrect. We thought the seating furniture was not suitable got a party of four in the living room.

The unit was spacious and well decorated. The proximity to the ocean was great. The grounds were beautiful and we had no issues with parking.
The unit had roaches. Iโm not someone who gets too worked up about bugs. If I only saw one, I wouldnโt mention it. I killed 13 adult roaches and numerous babies all around the sink and underneath. There was one in the upstairs bathroom. By morning, the trash can under the sink had numerous roaches. I left a message for the front desk about an hour after checking in on a Sunday night but no one called. The next morning, someone called just to make sure we checked in ok. I told her about the roaches and she sent maintenance to spray. After that, we saw about 6 babies but never another adult. We kept our food sealed and on top of the fridge the entire time. Itโs a shame because everything else was top notch.

It came with a full kitchen, washer and dryer and clean room and facilities. I enjoyed the available activities they had as well. Beautiful views and got to watch the sunset every evening. There was also lots of dinning options, food trucks and shops nearby.
Could be my own opinion but bed was slightly uncomfortable otherwise everything was great.

Our space was roomy and comfortable. There was convenient access to stores and restaurants, beach and public transport.
There was a vandalism incident on our rental vehicle. There was very little foot traffic other than maintenance staff. Communication with property management was a bit weird, but this was during the off-season.

The apartment was big with all the kitchen items/home appliances you may need.
I used to be really careful when I make a negative comment because Iโm aware about people having bad days or bad luck with occurring things, but this was a really bad experience.
I start my 5 nights stay with a check-in through a phone, because the front office was closed (in the next days I never found it open, regardless of the time I came), thatโs ok, what is not ok is that, once arrived at the apartment, I found a piece of paper stuck under the door saying that the next day somebody from a pest company is going to โdo a treatmentโ in the apartment, but the โfront officeโ didnโt advice me about it.
While opening the door we found a cockroach on the handle, the very first minute there.
So I tried to reach out to the front office to try to understand what โpest company is coming to do a treatmentโ means, but nobody reply to my cellphone and neither reply to the apartment-phone.
The โday of the treatmentโ arrived, a random person entered the apartment, perform the treatment and leave, the problem is that when I came home I found a โticketโ left on the handle says โis safe enter the apartment starting from 12pmโ and nobody informed me about this upfront, neither of the time Iโm not supposed to return to the apartment.
But again, I tried to convinced myself that this is something considered acceptable and they are going to clean the apartment to let it become safe (and clean) after the treatment with the spray that the pest control did, going around for all the apartment I assume, making at least the floor dirty.
The reality was that NOBODY came to clean the apartment after all of that.
Again I called the front office and I tried to contact them via booking, total of 3 messages and 13 calls and guess what? NOBODY REPLY.
In the next days I found coackroach and bugs literally EVERYWHERE, from the balcony, to the bathroom, from the cupboard to the dishwasher, it was really disgusting!
I called again the front office, and they finally answered!

Kitchen was too small but the rooms and sitting room was nice & big.
No tap outside to wash off sand.
Check in at 4 pm but reception closes at 3pm?? Doesnโt make sense.

I liked how close it was to the ocean. I enjoyed being able to walk to captain jackโs for drinks and breakfast. The concierge Louise was very friendly and helpful.
The water heater was leaking pretty bad and water was pouring onto the floor. Also there was a hot tub advertised but we had to find out it was broken by physically walking down there. (A heads up on the website about the broken hot tub would have been helpful)
The TV options were extremely limited and the wifi didnโt work.

One of the worst stays weโve experienced
We arrived at 6:30 PM to a closed front office and were told to call the after-hours red phone. We called for over 20 minutes with no answer; someone finally responded after nearly 30 minutes, blaming short staffing.
The next day, after waking at 3 AM for Haleakalฤ sunrise, we returned exhausted to extremely loud drilling and construction noise from the apartment next door. Management promised to look into it and never followed up. We had to personally intervene.
We were traveling with my 80-year-old mother, who had just completed a 13-hour flight from Philadelphia. The nonstop noise prevented rest and caused her blood pressure to rise. My wife developed a severe migraine due to the noise, forcing us to cancel our evening plans.
The man working next door told us he was the owner of that unit and had already informed Kahana Villa of the scheduled maintenance, yet they still rented us the adjacent apartment.
Instead of empathy, management offered $50. Only after escalating through Booking.com were we offered a room change at a different property requiring significant walkingโunsuitable for an elderly guest. Wi-Fi never worked, despite repeated complaints.
Stressful, poorly managed, and careless. Do not stay here.

After hour check-in through phone is pretty easy. Everything is in good shape upon our arrival except Wi-Fi which was fixed the next day. Kahana is a quite nice area in West Maui with a beach, several adjacent resorts, restaurants and convenience stores.
Our unit is pretty close to the highway Rt-30. Noise can be heard in the bedroom at night and early in the morning.

I liked the convenience of the location, and the in unit washer/dryer. That was a plus. Having a full kitchen was nice as well as the extra space.
A lizard was in our unit the entire 3 nights and it affected the peace of mind sleeping. Hot water was not working properly during showers and bedroom was hot, given that the air conditioning from the living room could not reach the room.

The complex is next to a beach, the apartment was very spacious with huge dining room/living room and kitchen downstairs and two bedrooms (and bathrooms) upstairs. There is a pool with jacuzzi and tennis courts in the complex. Parking was easily available. The area was quiet except morning rooster crowing :-D Nearby is a gas station with small convenience shop. The (night) receptionist in Kahana Sands was very nice and extremely helpful. I must say this accommodation exceeded our expectations and if we were to return to Maui again this would be our first and foremost choice!
For those with mobility issues it might cause some trouble to access the rooms as the stairs are rather steep and also both bathrooms are upstairs. One more thing was non-communication (e-mail replies) as our planned arrival was after midnight, I asked the accommodation multiple times in advance if it is OK and on top of that our flight was delayed so we arrived one day later, that being said, I never got any reply but it was not the slightest problem as we could check-in at the partner (Kahana Sands) reception with 24/7 desk.

The living room and dining area were good sized. The kitchen was well stocked. Nice to have the washer/dryer handy in the kitchen area.
The location of the room was bad. The only thing out the sliding glass doors was a wire fence to look at.
