Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Very comfortable bed, strong shower. Comfortable little lobby.

Rooftop bar is sweet - wish the menu had more vegetable options/salad. Staff wasn't really ready for us at 2:30pm on a Saturday. Table service didn't really start until well after 3pm. But they were all nice.

Location, location, location. Easy access to all the things we had planned to do and to subways when the weather made it difficult to walk long distances. Library theme is really fun for book lovers like us. Second floor relaxation area was a welcome spot for coffee and a light snack.

New York is certainly the city that never sleeps, but construction at all hours of the night on 41st street was horribly loud and led to terrible sleep. The hotel has no control over the work done across the street, of course, but not a restful stay. Second floor snacks were a little sparse.

We stayed in a petite suite, which was very small, but we knew it would be. We were only in the room to sleep and change clothes, so this was not an issue. If you have a smaller room like we did, don't plan to "hang out" much in the room. The Reading Room was nice to get coffee and snacks any time of day or night. Everything was very walkable, you are SO close to Grand Central Station and the New York Public Library. There is a nice restaurant attached to the hotel, though we did not eat there. The Rooftop bar was very nice, and we spent some time up there.

It was a little disappointing that the entire hotel was basically wrapped up for some reason, so there were no views. also impossible to see the address and name because of all the scaffolding. There is a "business center" with a computer and printer, but they don't work. I needed to print something ut and when I asked about it at the front desk, they were very kind and said to send whatever I needed and they would print it for me, which they did. But never said why I couldn't just do it myself, and the business center didn't give any indication it was not usable, so they might want to let people know that. Also, as nice as the Reading Room was, they def don't want you hanging out there a lot there are only straight back chairs, and it is very cold, and there is very loud musak playing at all hours in there, which makes it hard to relax, that and if another guest is in there having a virtual meeting they are loud as well.

Location is the best!! Everything is so close to! Stuff is very polite. I like this bar on 14th floor - so cozy and good drinks. On the 2nd floor you can find coffee and snacks (actually healthy things - nuts, bars, fruits), water - sparkling and still, Pepsi. Well they have even oat milk. That’s fantastic! Every room has their own kind of books, looks like a cool Idea.

The location was brilliant. Right in the middle of everything. I loved the library theme and all the little ‘reading’ references around the hotel. The lounge on the second floor was really nice to sit and relax in with a tea or coffee. The roof terrace restaurant ‘Bookmarks’ was also great. Good food and drinks and staff lovely overall.

We had a petite room and it really was petite. A bit claustrophobic at times especially with the heat. It was also a shame there was scaffolding up which spoilt the views on the roof terrace.

I love the concept the “free” espresso all day with snacks and fruit in the library. A great atmosphere and location.

There’s scaffolding all over it right now. It impacts the view but I’m sure can’t be helped and won’t last forever! The one light shadow was the unfriendly front desk lady. Everyone was kind and helpful and friendly but she was my first face and chilly and unfriendly. Maybe shy. Maybe not great for a front desk!

Location is perfect, and the reading room provides for an unbeatably comfortable/cozy lounge area. The building was undergoing maintenance on its exterior during my stay, so can't wait to return once all the scafolding is gone. All in all an excellent hotel for people looking for comfort and wellbeing that go beyond an impersonal cold luxurious building.

I missed finding a luggage rack/suitcase holder in the closet, I ended up having to open my large check-in suitcase on a marble round side table.

I stayed at this hotel in 2011 and loved it. They had a free happy hour for hotel guests on 2nd floor with wine, nibbles and pianist. This is no longer. Room is still there but has lost all its charm. Staff were friendly but did not know the city and any questions were responses from Google which I could do myself. It had lost that personal touch.

The small double room is ideal for one person, probably a bit cramped if there are 2 of you. The location is very central so it is easy to get around NYC, especially by walking and very easy to access Grand Central Station if you want to 'escape'.

I found the room very dark, probably not helped by scaffolding on outside of building. Also the room safe was too high for me to access easily,.

Staff, location, housekeeping were all great. Comfortable bed. Our room got way too hot so I appreciated being able to open the window. Bathroom had useful shelving so it was easy to unpack. 2nd floor snack room was really nice, appreciate being able to get water or a snack anytime we were coming or going.

As an earlier reviewer mentioned... For the cost (I know this is largely based on location) it could stand to be updated. Carpets and furniture looked well worn. I love the library theme but it felt sort of like an afterthought. While I personally didn't feel unsafe at all, the lack of security for the front door (which was not always attended) and immediate access to the elevator (which does not require a keycard to operate) may be problematic for some people.

All bedrooms are labelled as a library category. Rooms are quite large with a built in TV and safe. There is no mini bar nor coffee/tea making faciltywithin bedrooms, although there is a 24/7 hour reading room serving refreshments and snacks.

Madison and Vine is a connected restaurant to the hotel which serves good food but is above average pricey. Breakfasts there are pricey as well. better to walk to Central Grand Station and pay for a much cheaper coffee, juice and croissant there.

The hotel could not be located in a better place , easy access on foot everywhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were amazing ! We will be returning to this hotel . The rooftop bar was a great place to unwind .

The scaffolding outside however we learnt this is a must in winter due to the potential snow and its hazards, so fully understandable

Comfortable room, well appointed. The hotel's location is great for any midtown events or museums, tours, etc., plus close to stations and public transport. Appreciated the coffee and drinks in the reading room.

There was a doorman on duty when I arrived midday, but no one was at the door later in the evening or following morning. This absence made the hotel feel less safe, as the elevators do not require a room key to operate. Some of the room furnishings showed signs of wear/age, and for the hotel's price should be updated. Only one elevator was working when I arrived, which meant for long waiting times -- I wound up using the stairs multiple times because it was faster.

The location is terrific! It's an easy walk to and from Broadway theaters. It's convenient to sights, restaurants, and transportation. It's also a charming boutique hotel with excellent common rooms and lounges.

With cold weather, felt the chill near the windows. They could use weather stripping.

Our stay was wonderful. We were upgraded to a king size bedroom, which was wonderful. It was our wedding anniversary. The room had a flower decoration that my wife loved. She wanted to know what the thread count was on the bed sheets because it was so comfortable, but was afraid to ask.

Our only complaint was that we when we asked for directions to the Natural History Museum using the subway the directions we were given were wrong. But that wasn't too big of a deal at all.

I wish real cream or whole milk would have been supplied in the 2nd floor snack and drink facility. I abhor fake cream packets. Room cleaning was completed a little late, after 4 pm one day, just as I returned from a day of sightseeing and museums and wanted to put my feet up.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel has a good quality restaurant on site and a cozy rooftop bar arranged with spaces where you can converse comfortably. These both were handy as we were staying during extreme cold January weather and gave us the option of dining without having to venture out in the cold.

The staff were amazing. Friendly and helpful.

This is my third time staying here. Loved it hence why I came back. However, this time was not like the past two times. Only room that was available was the smallest with a full size bed. That was ok. But the room was sad. Lightning was horrible. Maybe if it was brighter it may make it better. Couldn't open the blinds on the windows because looking out there was construction and scaffolding. So, the room remained dark and dingy.This is not what I expected from this hotel.
