The room is a lot smaller than the pictures indicate , and I had such a noisy location. I understand street noise , but this was worse. It sounded like some type of machine or something at times . The reception in the room was not good for phone calls . I had a room that faced a courtyard so their was no light and just a bunch of pigeon poop .

Nice location although a bit noisy. The rooms are quite spacious for this area of town. The hotel has a nice old world charm to it, The doorman are extremely nice and helpful. The beds were comfortable and room was clean.
It would have been nice to have water machines throughout the hotel rather than providing bottled water and some of the room fittings (e.g. hooks) need a bit of a refresh but overall not much to mention.

I asked for side by side rooms, in plenty of time when booking the rooms. I added notes and called. They did not accommodate, and told me at check in ( not during booking, emails, or calls) that they don’t have rooms like that side by side. Our booking also included parking - which they refused , but at least booking.com upheld credit on their end.
The staff for most part were friendly but one staff member refused to store our luggage until checkout and was unpleasant.

Every time the HVAC system turned off it sounded, literally, like a door slamming. All night. My daughter and I startled awake repeatedly. Also, I wish we'd known we had no access to streaming services! We had family over to watch my daughter in a reality tv show and we couldn't see it!

Our experience in this hotel began with the fact that the room is completely different from the one in the photo. Instead of a large Luxe Queen room, we were given a small room where it is impossible for two adults to open their suitcases. The staff at the reception with negativity proved to us that it should be so and the room corresponds to the picture, although it is not so. The bathroom was dirty, someone else’s hair and rust on the ceiling. Booking did not respond to my complaint. In the morning we were offered to change to the same room, but with a different view, we refused. Initially, there were no slippers in the room, I had to go down to the lobby and ask!
Out of 4 nights, cleaning was 1 time! The rooms are not cleaned on weekends.
There is a good cafe at the bottom of the lobby, but it closes early and does not work on Sundays.
The hotel has a very bad Wi-Fi, it is impossible to work.
All these words were a big surprise for me, because the reviews say otherwise!

There was a really loud sound that kept waking us up outside our room. That was annoying, but wasn't something the staff could rectify, so we didn't say anything. And the stairs were a necessity (nbd when walking the city anyway) because of the volume of people compared to the number of elevators.

The hotel itself was very nice. Very cozy and the lobby area was clean. I liked that they will store your bags until check in time as we came in on an early flight. The check in process was a breeze.
The hallways are a bit narrow- which is to be expected in such a historic hotel. The room was actually quite spacious. The hotel was in a pretty good location as well-- we easily walked to the Macy's parade route, Herald Square and Bryant Park.
A few downsides were:
The room wasn't cleaned very well. Someone had left a beanie hat hanging on the lamp, there was a dried contact lens stuck to the bottom of the wall in the bathroom, the comforters were not very clean and white, the body wash container in the shower was pretty much empty, and, we didn't find this out until later, the bed was actually broken on one side ( the right side sunk WAAYYY down). We didn't notice until late at night when going to bed and it wasn't worth it to try to pack everything up and get another room when we had early plans the next day.
The hotel bar closed up too early and they also closed the canteen when the bar closed-- there was no way to get snacks after the bar closed.

The hotel was in a great location easy walk to Bryant Park, Rockefeller and Times Square also It is quite which is definitely needed after all the holiday events.

The room was set on 80 degrees when we got there. We changed the setting down to 68 before we went out and when we got back, many hours later, it was still 80. It was very hard to sleep in the heat that night

Everything was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They give you plenty of water. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everyone is very accommodating. The hotel is very safe and clean. We will definitely be staying here again. It was raining the last day they had umbrellas for us. They store your luggage for you. Very unique hotel.

This hotel was a really great value for the price and I'd absolutely stay again. The location is pretty close to Grand Central, I wish it was just a little closer to a subway (mostly because it was freezing while we were there), but it still isn't far... maybe about a 7-10 minute walk. Every staff member I encountered was extremely efficient and friendly - from the front desk and door men, to the maids and the gentleman who made our coffee in the morning at the bar. Next, the room is quite large by Manhattan standards! 3 of us and our luggage fit comfortably which does not always happen in the city! The bed is extremely comfortable and the room was spotless. There is even a mini fridge which is an added bonus.
The only thing I can ding is that the pull out sofa was extremely uncomfortable... our third person had to just fold it up and sleep on the couch instead. That is really the only con I can think of!

Very friendly staff; especially housekeeping & doormen. Location was great - close enough to walk to theaters but far enough to be away from the crowds. Never had to wait too long for elevators which is often a problem in NY hotels. Free bottled water.
The window in the bathroom was old and let in so much cold air. The bathroom was always freezing cold which isn't great when it's December/January and you want to take a hot shower. They installed new windows in room but not bathroom - why?!
