Very quaint and unique. Enjoyed the historic vibe. And the lobby was set up well with lots to do. But the biggest standout was the staff. Super helpful from helping find a good restaurant to helping with printing some important documents.
Having only one small elevator was the only drawback. But not a deal breaker.

The location in downtown SF isn't the cleanest, safe feeling or friendliest place. The rooms are small, fixtures worn and there was dust piled up in certain areas so not thoroughly cleaned.

No ice machine, had to ask for the refrigerator that did not come the same day we ordered on check in. Asked again the next morning and finally got it. Had to ask for a chain lock for the room as the other one was missing.

Room was clean. Room size was good. Tasty patries and coffee in the morning, with plenty of comfy places to sit and relax. Staff friendly and helpful.
The hotel is dated and worn, marks on the walls. Its doesn't look like the photos anymore.
Single glazing didn't keep noise out and I had the view of an alleyway sadly.
The bar didn't appear to be open at any point, shame as seeing that in the photos was one of the reasons I booked. The location was sadly lacking in charm and quite a walk from lots of the places I wanted to visit. Not the hotels fault but the area was very run down - the local shopping centre was almost completely empty of shops. Many shops in Union Square were also closed down.

It was in a great location for us to be able to explore San Francisco and we did that. Also got up early a took a long hilly walk. Sooo much fun!
When we arrived we were told that the elevator was down and we had some heavy luggage? they told us our room on the 9th floor was not ready and I almost panicked!! They asked us to come back later. And they would try to find us a better room. We took this opportunity to explore San Francisco, and when we got back almost 6 hours later, they upgraded the room to the 1st floor. Thank goodness!!!?❤️

Had to call from personal cell phone for them to pick up. Space heater was provided which helped but for the price (1,300+ a night) it was not great. Breakfast was limited. Non dairy milks weren’t available as well as simple things like maple syrup. Carpets in the room were super dirty and no sleepers were provided during the stay. I would not recommend staying at this place.

The staff were amazing. Anything needed was happily and efficiently done.
The continental breakfast was more than sufficient, meeting other travelers from all over the world was a treat.
The building is historically maintained and you can see that improvements are continually being done.
The bar itself wasn't open.
However the big TV was on if you wanted to cuddle on the couch and watch something, or play pool in the back area.
The room was smaller than we anticipated.
