Located in a historic building that is just 5 minutes’ walk from Union Square, Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel Union Square features a rooftop restaurant, a library, a gym with indoor pool and a 564 seat on-site theater. The servers at breakfast were amazingly helpful and friendly. I’d give them An A plus. So attentive. The breakfast was delicious except for the pastries that were a little stale. Eggs were delicious. Sautéed vegetables very nice. I sure hated the Mrs. Butterworth’s fake syrup packets, so I didn’t eat the nice waffle.
I thought a customer got a free glass of wine. The concierge didn’t say anything about a glass of wine but I’d always had a complimentary glass of wine when I stayed there before. For $300 plus a night for the room I guess I wanted that fee glass of wine but when I got back from

The location is perfect for exploring San Francisco. We booked deliberately for the military history. This is so similar to the Cavalry and Guards Club in London
The bar and restaurant have stunning views and breakfast is fine. The concierge and front of house are very helpful and polite

Breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and professional and the happy hour drinks were an impressively generous bonus to the stay. The evening meal we enjoyed on our last evening was excellent and I very much appreciated the military aspect of the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable and the Wi-Fi relatively fast and reliable.

The staff were really friendly
The air conditioning in our room didn’t work and it seemed they knew about it before they gave us the room. When we asked they offered us a different room but given the weather was mild we decided we couldn’t be bothered packing up and unpacking again

Excellent customer service from beginning to end. The attentive front desk staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay, and we did! Dining staff was also lovely and the included breakfast and happy hour were more than I expected. The memorial portion of the hotel is truly special, with dedications to brave Marines around every corner. Location is spot on too, with many restaurants up and down the street and walkable Chinatown, Union Square and Fisherman’s Wharf. This hotel is a treasure to the city and a great value to boot!

A fabulous hotel in a great location to explore San Francisco. An amazing tribute to the Marines give the hotel a unique character. Breakfast was very good, happy hour with great views over the city was a welcome bonus. Staff were warm, helpful and friendly. Tremendous overall value.
Room was a little small and basic, but had everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Given the ccost of the room for the location overall it exceeded our expectations.

Nicely decorated, very, very clean, and the event center was beautiful. It is close to great restaurants and parking is nearby. The staff actually offered service! It was some of the most attentive service by a hotel staff we have had in some time. The breakfast was fantastic and even had multiple gluten free options like muffins and pastries! We will absolutely be staying again.
It is in a congested part of town. Remember you are in the middle of a city and be patient with driving and parking.

Our bathroom, which was very dated and a poor standard compared to the room, and is the main reason for giving a lower score.
Breakfast - we were surprised that there was no bread or toast available, despite the provision of jam, peanut butter etc. A small thing but odd to us (we’re English!).

we are vegetarians and did not eat eggs or mushroom.
There was hardly any choice on the Menu.we had to pay for two toasts about $5.43 including tax.
All the waiters expect us to tip them which we did despite poor service from the staff.
On the happy hour in the afternoon we drank coffee because we did not drink any alcohol and there also the staff expected a tip.

A buffet breakfast was included in the room rates and was good, albeit with an obvious American slant, and they offer residents a free "happy hour" each evening. Excellent value for money and as a veteran, it was nice that my fee for staying two nights was going to support other military service personnel and veterans.
Unable to view the Marine Museum as a conference had taken over that area but their conference fees were far higher than my room rates so good luck to the Marine Memorial for their commercial accumen.

This hotel is in a great location. It's a 20 minute walk to the wharf. We loved the breakfast buffet. It was delicious. The whole hotel is a museum to our Marine Corps, and has a great library. I enjoyed it.
Hmm....it's not a cheap place to stay. Maybe a veteran's discount would help.

The woman checking me in late at night on Tuesday night did a great job finding me a quiet room near the water fountain on the 8th floor. I greatly appreciated her attention to my request and it made my stay perfect relative to the room I was originally booked into.
It would be good if breakfast started at 7 for us East Coasters ;-)

The facility, location, happy hour and buffet breakfast with wonderful views of the city and partial bay view! Staff were amazing. There was a library, museum, lap pool and some gym facilities. Easy walking distance to China Town, Union Square, Iconic Cable Cars, Ferry Building and other locations. The area is very clean. San Francisco has done a good job keeping the city clean and inviting. Law enforcement was present in Union Square area, which is a good idea, in my opinion, due to the past issues they've had. We chatted with the officer and he was very pleasant and helpful with questions we had. San Francisco is a beautiful city...come visit!

Amazing gym at the bottom floor and breakfasts included were great value for money. Troy at the front desk was really helpful.
It was comfortable and god value for money. They also accommodated us having an extra fold out bed put in our room for our teenage son.
A tad dated decor wise. And location is close to San Francisco Civic Square and cable cars but the streets in the neighbourhood are a bit rough at night.

It is an older building with a ‘gentlemen’s club’ vibe, but that was a nice thing. Rooms are big, well furnished and the location outside Union Square is perfect.
Nothing really, the Sunday breakfast buffet isn’t as nice as the midweek breakfasts, but that’s about all.

The location on Sutter Street near Union Square can’t be beat. The view from the 12th floor is worth your stay. Happy Hour and breakfast were both very enjoyable. Our room was clean, even if smaller than I expected. Many restaurants and Chinatown are walking distance. Coffee service in the room and a refrigerator are a nice touch. We have. Wen coming to the Marines Memorisl for over 40 years.
My only complaint is the coffee at breakfast is poor quality. They could really upgrade this to make breakfast (food is good) more enjoyable.
