We already used this accomodation in the past, and we enjoyed its optimal position and old-times style. Unfortunately, this year we found it to have become quite less enjoyable:
1. At our arrival the beds were done, but we had to remove the thrash left from the previous occupants by ourselves;
2. The small fridge was so dirty we couldn't use it at all;
3. The breakfast - which years before was one of the best one could find in that price range in the nearby - was limited to some bread, cold hardboiled eggs, some bananas and little more.
In conclusion: the place still keeps its old San Francisco style, the staff is quite kind, and the location is optimal for visiting the city - but there's still some work to do to give it back the shine of its past.

Though the lobby looks a bit outdated, it was pleasantly large, calm and well decorated including plants that created an atmosphere of serenity. Aging elevators but stairs (we were located on the 5th floor) became part of your daily finess plan (+ the walking in SF streets). Not to mention we selected Mayflower due its central location which came out as essential in our plan to extensively discover "the beautiful city by the bay".
Clean room, nothing fancy in it but it "did the job" housing a 4 members family after wandering in SF! Last but not least, breakfast was impatiently awaited with DIY (tasty) waffles, great coffee, eggs, toasts. We missed the fruits a bit. But overall a rewarding experience hence I recommend
the fruits at breakfast, and the breakfast area (definitely a bit small). But we managed!!!

Property is really old. Specially lifts are not in good shape. Each time coming in and out and going to the specific floor was a challenge . Needs replacing.

Good corner quiet room and comfortable bed with nice sheets and blankets
TV at one time didn’t work but I figured it out due to a loose connector/cable in back of TV that needed to be shaken. So perhaps securing it with strong industrial duct tape or zip ties would help. It wasn’t a big deal though.

It’s centrally located, rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and hotel has everything needed for a stay in the city.
The floors are creaky and rooms aren’t well insulated from sound, so you can clearly hear people in the hallways and the noise of cars outside.

The size of the room was big and had windows to two aspects, which meant it was bright and pleasant. There was also a kitchenette and a big, walk-in closet. The breakfast was included and let you make your own waffles. The location felt safe and was handy for things like restaurants, grocery stores and laundries.
The elevators are old and small, which meant getting luggage in and out was a little tricky, but they did the job. The common areas of the hotel were a little dated, but the building is coming up for 100 years old. The actual room was basic but perfect for my trip.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was adequate for my needs. The coffee was really good. This is an old hotel and it reminds me very much of the hotels my wife and I stayed in on our trip to Europe. I like the location as it is close to Union Square and the Muni station. The Palihotel is similar, and is even closer to the Union Square station. For this trip, I chose the Mayflower Hotel. On my last stay here I was able to park my car in the underground garage. On this trip I was told that no parking was available, so I parked in a garage on Sutter Street. Hotels in San Francisco (and elsewhere now) are expensive now, and I appreciate saving some money by staying at the Mayflower.
There was no air conditioning in our room, and it did get a little warm, but the ceiling fan helped. At night I slept with only a sheet--no blankets.

The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. They did a great job guiding me in and out of the garage...it was QUITE the experience! (Narrow cars only!) Breakfast was great! Belgium waffles!
The pillows would be the only complaint...Definitely bring your own if you can.

Lobby and room were well-maintained and spacious. Breakfast was basic and adequate, but certainly not "exceptional" as listed on Booking.com. Lifts are of the antique type but worked well once we've figured out its functionning.
Parking on a Sunday night was absolutely atrocious. Our mini-van was too wide for the on-site parking. Street parking was very rare, and even though we found two eventually after a long search, both times local residents literally drove almost through us to take that parking space away from us. Totally obnoxious behaviors. All garages were overcharging. We spent almost an hour to find a parking space. Will definitely avoid this area next time we visit SF.
The bed was comfortable, but as is the case for many of those older establishments, sound-proofing is lacking, so our sleeps were disrupted by some street noise (in particular very loud police/fire sirens several times in the night).

The hotel has a very convenient location, just a few steps from Union Square, making it easy to reach shopping areas, restaurants, and major attractions. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped, providing a comfortable stay after a long day. The staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to help whenever needed, which leaves a very positive impression throughout the stay.
However, as the hotel is quite old, some parts feel dated, especially the vintage elevator, which moves a bit slowly. The hallways are narrow, so walking through with a lot of luggage can be slightly inconvenient.

Very cozy hotel and really nice view from the city skyline. The room is very spacious, we had 2 closets, a kitchenette, table and the two beds.
