I stayed at sweet and charming “Josefine hotel” for four nights over this last (snowy!) weekend. Choosing to stay here was one of the main reasons my visit to Vienna was so enjoyable.
The hotel is located in a typical historic Viennese building that has been beautifully renovated. It has 49 rooms, all designed in a warm, nostalgic, and romantic style inspired by the joyful 1920’s. The décor features soft, dim lighting from lamps wrapped in red fringes, rich shades of burgundy, royal green, and gold, and clean, rounded lines in a beautiful Art Deco style.
The small lobby library also has a cozy and romantic atmosphere, with heartwarming old jazz music playing in the background, shelves filled with vinyl records and a vintage turntable, alongside a hot-water samovar for tea and a small, stylish filter coffee machine.
The room itself was very comfortable: the bed was excellent, the Wi-Fi worked smoothly and fast, the water pressure in the shower was strong, and the hot water was truly hot and plentiful.
What made the stay even more special is the wonderful attitude of the entire staff. Everyone is smiling, kind, and attentive, and genuinely responsive to personal interaction — something especially important for solo travelers. The overall feeling is that of a refined private residence from another era, with a warm, welcoming, and thoughtful team.
One small suggestion for improvement: it would be great to address the tea & coffee facilities issue. If it’s not possible to equip the rooms with a coffee machine or electric kettle, it would still be worthwhile to invest in a more effective coffee machine in the lovely lobby, and to ensure that the water in the samovar is truly boiling and available throughout day and night.

The hotel itself was really lovely, great architecture with a really cozy feeling. I especially liked the lounge area with the turntable and hundreds of LPs to choose from. The breakfast (with a generous time frame, until 2PM) was absolutely delicious and the cocktail bar it switched over to at night was fantastic as well. The hotel itself is within walking distant to great shopping, museums and the opera house. The staff was excellent as well, very informative, friendly and happy to accommodate reasonable requests in an expediente manner. Top notch all around.
There was no curtain/door to separate shower from commode in my room.

the room was clean & beautifully decorated on theme, every detail was taken into consideration & perfected for maximum comfort & experience. from the moment i entered hotel josefine i was transported & loved every minute. i was sad to leave & will absolutely be staying here next time i am in vienna! on top of all that, the bar has one of the most extensive drink menus i have ever seen, with the most delicious options for every palate. the vibes in there are simply immaculate.
the only thing that is good to be aware of is that if you are staying on the first floor you might hear some music from the bar downstairs; it wasn't a problem for me but it may bother light sleepers.

Gorgeous decor, v comfy bed (we had an Ideale Plus room, which was spacious and very quiet with a nice garden/courtyard view) great location, staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful (also had great tips for cafes etc; we tried a few of their recommendations and they were all spot-on), and just a really lovely vibe to the whole place.
We were very sad to leave!

This place is so stylish - it is a feast for the eyes. It's also really comfortable - and very central. The transport links meant that we could easily get to all main attractions and back at night safely and conveniently. A cosy lounge with complimentary tea and coffee is available at all times. We also loved the cocktail bar on-site that, while not officially part of the hotel, felt like an extension of its charm. It was absolutely incredible and definitely added to the experience. Should I ever return to Vienna for work and they offer to arrange a hotel, I’ll politely decline and book Die Josephine in a heartbeat.
Die Josephine is a beautifully designed hotel with a distinct 1920s style. From the entrance to the lobby - with its soft jazz playing in the background - and all the way to the rooms, there’s a clear commitment to the theme, and it’s executed exceptionally well.
The breakfast is also excellent. The croissants are delicious, the bread is outstanding, and the scrambled eggs are perfectly cooked. Be warned - you might leave a little heavier than you arrived.
If I stayed at Die Josephine any longer, I feel like I’d start writing plays or take up painting. It’s that kind of inspiring place.

Rooms are clean. We also got a separate bed for our dog and some treats. Guests are greeted with a bottle of wine, water and some small treats. You also get a postcard from the hotel.
Facilities are in good condition, clean.
Breakfast is definitely worth all the money it costs: it's a la carte, you can choose as many items from the menu as you want. There are also many items you can additionally buy, but we really didn't even get to that. Cheese, ham, salmon platters, eggs of different kinds, oats, fruits, tea, coffee, juice - all included.
The staff was very friendly, open to help.
We visited during the hotel transition to Eurostars. Hotel employees were trying their best, but they saw a new system on the day, and there wasn't always someone to properly guide them.
But the staff is really great, and I'm sure they will quickly figure it all out.

If you are noise sensitive AT ALL, and want to sleep before 2 AM, this is not the place for you. At least on the first floor you can hear the bar - bring really good earplugs if you want to be able to fall asleep, which I don't think you should have to to a hotel this professional on all other points? I had to go down and complain about the noise (which was lowered, but it's not silent until the bar closes).

As far as location is concerned, it was within walking distance to Westbahnhof, and it was in a nice quiet neighbourhood. Public transit from there to anywhere in the city was a breeze.
Definitely on my list of places to stay at again should I find my way to Vienna one day.

During our stay, there was a problem with AC which was not communicated to us while booking, despite several complaints to hotel staff it was not fixed in all days. Hotel offered a fan to cool the room, which helped a bit. If I knew the AC problem, I would stay in another hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at Eurostar Josefine. The staff is absolutely lovely. My room was upgraded and I was treated like a princess my whole stay. It was a dream. I enjoyed my morning coffee and cocktails in the bar in the evening. I loved the decoration of the hotel and the bed was extremely comfortable. I loved the small touches they left in the room- like bath salt and hand written notes. I wish I could have stayed forever.

My partner and I had the most amazing two-night stay at Josefine! We can’t thank the staff enough for making our time there so special. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and our room was incredibly comfortable, well-equipped, and stylish.
We also loved the bar downstairs, which was the perfect place to relax in the evening. But more importantly, the warmth and hospitality we received made a lasting impression, and helped make the start of our trip truly unforgettable!
Thank you so much for taking such great care of us. We sincerely hope to return and stay again in the future!

Great location, very comfortable bed, good choice of breakfast and extremely helpful Reception staff.
Rather than a bathroom, the loo and shower were effectively in cupboards off the main bedroom and the sink in an alcove. Would much prefer a proper bathroom.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would especially like to highlight the breakfast experience.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a great selection of fresh and tasty food. What made it truly special, however, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every morning started with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere that made me feel at home. It is rare to find such heartfelt hospitality, and it made a lasting impression on me.
The room was also very clean, cozy, and comfortable, providing everything needed for a pleasant stay.
Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so enjoyable. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to others.

Eurostars Josefine is an amazing hotel with wonderful staff and easy access to the metro and Wiener Stadthalle, the main city can also easily be walked too if wanted.
The room refreshments are a lovely welcome and tea and coffee can easily be got from the ground floor or asked for from reception out of hours.
