The room my wife and I were initially in was inadequately heated, actually not at all. Even after having been 'upgraded' to a better room, comfort left something to be desired. It was warmer, but it was difficult to find a comfortable seat to watch tv, so we ended up sitting on the bed, when we wanted to watch something.

Location was excellent - easy to get to and central to attractions. It was a bonus to have breakfast included and was very welcome. The room was attractive and comfortable.
I would have liked a kettle to make tea in the room. The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed properly. It would also be useful to have charging ports available.

BEST LOCATION! The hotel is located a short walk from the conference centre, very close to great restaurants and in the next to many tourist attractions. The rooms had cozy old world charm with newly renovated bathrooms - really the best of both worlds! The breakfast was amazing, the best part of my day. The staff was so helpful, going above and beyond each day!

The parking situation was a little confusing because you had to walk several blocks to the parking lot but I assume that is the way it goes when parking in the Old City.

Room was dark. Took awhile to figure out thermostat and heating. No view of anything. Very quiet a plus but very dark. The sitting room had a small love seat.

Excellent location. Just a short walk to the old city center. Everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The shower/tub is very small but then again the entire room was pretty small. The breakfast room is a bit cramped and you cannot serve yourself. It would have been nice to get our own coffee, at least. They had a decent selection of breakfast items. The croissants were delicious! Staff was very friendly.

Service was superb, one of the best I would say! I wasn’t able to get his name but the asian gent at the reception was very approachable and accommodating. He made sure that we were always comfortable and have been really helpful throughout our stay. Kudos to him for being above and beyond! I would like to thank him for everything and wasn’t able to because when we returned i think his shift ended already. I would also like to add that the hotel was well kept and very comfortable, our room is very clean and has all the necessary equipment we needed for our 3 night stay. It has been a wonderful experience and we’ll surely book here again on our next visit!

They control the breakfast by not letting the guests self serve with the argument of controlling the spread of viruses. Also they limit the quantity of food (eg: My cousin loves bacon and asked for more bacon than the quantity served and they said NO)

Having visited Quebec City on a regular basis since 1968 this was my first time at Hôtel Manoir de l'Esplanade. The location is outstanding, the family run hotel is well cared for and the breakfast is very good! The staff is attentive and friendly and it is clear that the family take pride in the business.
Having booked a "budget"/smaller room, knowing we would not spend much time in the room, I did fall victim to an "upsell" pitch upon check-in, that increased my room rate by $82 each night. Granted the larger room, more of a suite, was super nice, however not necessary. Had we gotten the suite at more of a last minute discount, and not the advertised price, I might have felt "special" and a bit better about the "upsell". For example, "due to a cancellation, our best room became available. We can offer it to you at a special rate". That would have created customer "WOW". In the end, we really enjoyed Hôtel Manoir de l'Esplanade. San and his family were fantastic, and made us feel welcomed. You have to admire a family run business that has survived and thrived since 1981!
Beware of excessive Canadian taxes. There is sales tax, lodging tax and some other tax that adds a total of 20% to your final bill. There is also a $19 daily parking fee, that is imposed by the city, which should be gratis for anyone spending money lodging in the city. This is all beyond the control of hotel owners, but visitors may need to consider this additional expense when shopping for a room. Again, Hôtel Manoir de l'Esplanade is a super place staffed with wonderful people!

Manoir de l'Esplanade has become our "go to" hotel for visits to Quebec City and we've now stayed there several times. The location is perfect - just inside the old city wall and convenient to all of the sites in addition to being within walking distance of the various restaurants and shops outside the walls. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. All of this makes Manoir an excellent value for its very reasonable cost. We have no need to look anywhere else for our future visits.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Convenient location, very friendly and helpful staff, and a delicious breakfast. Can’t wait to return!
Personally I wasn’t too bothered by it, but it’s an old historic building so the walls are thin and you can hear some of the traffic in the hallway.

A truly wonderful stay! The room was perfect with a wonderful view of the park across the street where we could watch ice skating. This is hands down the absolute cleanest room I have ever stayed in. It was impeccably clean!!!! The breakfast was wonderful and the helpful, kind service started our day off perfectly every morning. The hotel is within walking distance to all of the major sites in Old Town and was only steps from the path of the winter carnival parade route. Be sure to stop into the small bakery/cafe around the corner for a treat or sandwiches during your stay. We would 100% stay here again. Perfect!
I can't think of a single negative thing to mention. We loved everything about this hotel and feel so lucky to have found this gem!

Excellent location for visiting Quebec old town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel nice and quiet.
It is nice to have new towels and linen each day but it would be better for the environment if they were not changed everyday.

the location is excellent for access into Old Quebec City. The rooms the entire building is extremely clean with comfortable beds, clean linens and good pillows. The parking was provided underground was about a 5-10 minute walk. The only experience we found different was the continental breakfast. Hot/baked items you will advise what you would like and one of the staff will get it for you. Some items such as cereal and fruit are available for you to do yourself. Not sure why they have chosen to do the breakfast this way, but to each their own. We had our first breakfast there, but the other mornings, we ventured down the street to different places.

Great Location to see Old Quebec. The checkin and checkout staff were very good. The room was ok, very clean. There was a bar fridge in our room, which made things very convenient. Good Breakfast.
Our Room was next to the road so we heard cars and people well into the night, making it hard to sleep. There was no bathroom door. It was a sliding door, that kept sliding open. So absolutely no privacy when in the bathroom. Even though the breakfast was good, it was a little confusing, in terms of what was on the menu and where to get it, even though the menu was taped to the table.
