Right on the harbour front, lovely pool, the rooms have been refurbished since I was there 10 years ago. They are really plush.
The parking garage used to be right behind the hotel, now it's down the road, far too far away. I ended up locking my bike up across the road.

The first thing is that this is not a 4* hotel. The only indication for that is the price. The breakfast is not good at all. I have some pics attached. The hotel is not renovated. We paid 16€per person for a breakfast that was horrible and overpriced. For the price we paid plus all extras like breakfast is definitely not worth the price nor experience.

I imagine in the summer with the lovely pool this is a gem, but you can't get better located being right on the town centre marina, everything in walking distance. Parking available around the corner, but you don't need your car because the location is great - shops, beach, restaurants :) all good!

Renovated bathroom with good shower pressure, good amenities, stirring sticks for coffee and tea missing from tea tray. Good TV selection French and international. Good buffet breakfast and service, fresh orange juice !!
Receptionist switched in between English and French all the time, whereby we live in France and spoke French all the time and he switched half the time to English probably to show off. Offsite parking is difficult, GPS address does not bring you to the entrance, due to closed/one way streets. Driving plan is issued by reception and shown on PC. Valet parking would be better and include € 5.00 for this service and add this to the parking rate of € 13.00, parking is free in low season, but you should charge €10.00 and include valet service.
Breakfast feedback; scrambled eggs too liquid, be careful, 3 coffee machines not needed, toaster one half broken. Check coffee quality, cappuccino and american, fresh to cup beans, but not very good quality ?

Perfect location, staff very helpful and accommodated our requests, great communication about the parking situation. The rooms at the back were great, very quiet despite being close to busy bars. Comfortable beds and good amenities.
The breakfast room has great views, but is a little less elegant and the standard is not as great as the rest of the property (paper napkins, a bit lifeless). Breakfast choice is ok but not fantastic - I think it’s because there is no restaurant in the hotel, so there is no salad or vegetables, only eggs, ham and only one type of cheese for example.

The hotel location is superb, the breakfast was very good and the staff were so helpful, even helping us book taxis.
If I ever return to La Rochelle I will be staying there again.
Due to maintenance works the swimming pool was not open. That was disappointing.
Some minor other points though were there was no safety deposit box and additionally there were three of us sharing a room but sometimes it was only made up for two people.

The location is excellent.
During our short stay there were 2 issues we were not made aware of.
We had a superior room with a pool view. We knew the pool was not in use but did not know that the area was a building site with scaffolding erected and stacked in the area and workmen hauling materials up and down and painting the external walls. Internally, there was also work going on in the lobby with new walls being constructed.
Parking is always an issue in La R. There is no parking allowed at the hotel except to unload. That is accepted. However, when we came to leave, there was a flood defence exercise happening along the quay, and there was no access to the hotel at all by car. We had to carry our luggage to the car in the remote carpark. Were the staff bothered?

Either rundown or still being refurbished, looked shabby, worn- breakfast room had good view but chairs tables, walls worn/ dishevelled/ battered- shame. Whilst area is pedestrianised in evening it meat leaving the car parked roadside some 5 minute walk away

Rooms were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was well stocked. We were able to use the pool and it was heated and lovely as it was a very warm day. The location is wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Parking was nearby. We really liked the hotel and La Rochelle.
Some construction is being done so the hotel name is not visible in the front so we had trouble finding it. The construction on the main floor did not bother us as we were there on the weekend but as a courtesy guests should be notified.

The hotel is in a fabulous location in the port, only 10 minutes walk from the train station with plenty of restaurants and bars on the doorstep. The bedroom was lovely, large, very nicely decorated and quiet. The swimming pool was an added bonus. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, served in a lovely room looking out the port with plenty of seating. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend highly.
The only thing that disappointed was the lobby/bar area are being re-constructed at the moment which we weren't informed of when booking. The work did not impact on our stay except after a day's exploring we usually enjoy having a sit down and drink before retiring which we weren't able to do. When finished it looks like it will be lovely so we may need to visit again to experience it. Otherwise we could not find any faults.

Excellent location and comfortable bed
The hotel is undergoing renovation works. There
are workers going in and out, the pool was inaccessible, and the general cleanliness of the room was poor (dust on the table in the room and paint stains). Staff at breakfast was nonchalant and tables were not cleared. I barely slept because of the strong smell of paint.
The hotel should either warn guest or just close until the renovation is done.

Good location , the finished rooms looked good
We never even checked in , it was that bad !
Despite messaging ahead of arrival as we’d seen negative reviews about construction work - we had raised an enquiry via Booking.com and had a reply from the hotel that work was only at the back of the hotel and wouldn’t affect us .. absolute lies !
We arrived after an early start & long train journey to find the hotel with no exterior signage and the entire ground floor area was a building site
The man at reception seemed down beaten and prepared for our dismay - when we explained we weren’t expecting the construction work to still be going on he just said “me too”
The foyer , corridors and stairs were a mess and everything covered in plaster dust . I requested to view the room and after initially being told the room wasn’t ready ( despite earlier communication confirming our arrival time of 3pm ) I was given a key and left to discover on my own .
The room to n the 3rd floor was recently refurbished , and fair to be honest - not sure about finer details as we didn’t stay in the room
I asked about the breakfast room as clearly the downstairs poolside room was not yet completed. I was shown a first floor conference room laid out for breakfast , which looked okay , but was unlikely to be available during the day , leaving no public / communal areas . so no drinks by the pool or anywhere to relax other than the bedroom
I encountered the manager / owner ? during this and explained my disappointment. The only response I received was “have you decided yet” , as in giving us only the choice of cancelling the booking , or putting up with the chaos.

Hotel is right in the center and walking distance to all restaurants and beach.
You can park your car a few minutes in front of the hotel to unload luggage.
The hotel is a little difficult to reach due to closed roads for cars without a local permit.
Way from hotel to garage complicated. Garage is close by, but the map we received did not explain the way properly.
Airconditioning in our room did not work and we were told that our room was not very hot.
The weather was very warm end of July and the gentleman at the reception desk suggested to bring us a fan.
We refused this and after a difficult discussion with the same gentleman we finally got another room with a (noisy) airconditioning.

The room was spacious and the separate toilet is always nice. The bed was very big and comfortable with crisp white linen.
It was advertised as a room with a street view. The window was really small and there was no view at all. The hinges on the bathroom doors squeaked so loudly that they woke my husband up when I went to the bathroom. The rooms were serviced very late in the day and the coffee and sugar not replenished.

The location of the hotel is magnificent. It is right on the port, but just away from the really busy bars, so feels as though it is very secluded even when the port is right outside the front door. Rooms to the rear overlooking the pool are ideal, and the vista from the first floor breakfast area in the morning are what make holidays that bit better. Really enjoyed this hotel experience.

The hotel was perfectly located, the beds were the best we have ever slept in abroad! Room spacious, and the staff went above and beyond to help with a medical problem. La Rochelle has fabulous medieval architecture/ a fascinating history- see Ina Caro's book- and among the best seafood in the world. Besides that you will want to visit the islands by ferry or other boat. Breakfast lovely too, and in a room with a view,

Brilliant location right on the port with the whole of La Rochelle accessible by walking 10 minutes. The room is perfect with enough space and storage for the few days. Bed super comfortable and made up each day. Staff very friendly and happy to accommodate.
One or two tweaks would make it perfect, like black tea in the room, a better hair dryer and better hair and shower gel.

Proximity to everything! Less than 10 min walk to the La Rochelle train station. In room hotpot for hot water.
Interior layout of the ground floor is a bit strange. I had to pass through a narrow corridor to get to the back elevator. The hairdryer is supposed to deter theft, but a bit hard to use as you have to continuously press on the front panel for it to work.
