The location is great, you can walk to the city center in 5 minutes. The staff is also super friendly.
The breakfast was also great. And the room was clean.
The facilities in the room were not adequate, a coffee machine could be useful. what I really didn't like was the size of the toilet actually you can't sit comfortably. The internet and lighting were poor, but not a problem.

In front of the hotel there was a bar or night club and people were extremely noise during the whole night.
The room was tiny and the air con didn’t work. As we couldn’t open the windows because of the noise sleeping was difficult. The bathroom was quite old and tiny.

This was a wonderful hotel in a scenic location in the beautiful old city.
Unlike some other French hotels I have stayed at, the hotel had great air conditioning (Mitsubishi electric system) and also the shower stall was well made and the water did not leak out into the bathroom, also equipped with a modern elevator, so no trouble with luggage going up to your room.
The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff very pleasant and efficient.
Strassburg is a great city!
It was a wonderful and fruitful stay, thank you very much!

Location, location......One block from beautiful riverside walk, and in turn bridge access to major centuries old historical sights, including cathedral.
Only in the very last moments of visit, did staff member resolve non-functioning internet usage by a simple change to different access site. Unfortunately, to late to be able to use for entire two day stay.

Nice location for that price, very close to the main sights of Strasbourg. Breakfast is exceptionally good. Rooms have powerful AC units. The staff was very nice and helpful.
Lack of lactose-free/plant based milk and dairy for breakfast. One day they had coconut milk but was spoiled. Also the cleaning staff knocked violently on our door and kept reminding us that it is time to leave at the day of our checkout. The thing is that we have requested a late check out with hotel staff the day before. Perhaps somehow they forgot to update cleaners about it.
Also WiFi is not really fast, we only got 1.5 mbps on average. The TV in the room is fully smart-capable, but for some reason it is disconnected from wifi, so it just shows regular tv channels and Netflix/YouTube is not working.

Hôtel De L’Ill is in an extremely good location for exploring the historical area of Strasbourg. The beautiful cathedral is just across a bridge and Petite France is in walking distance. The hotel was comfortable and they served an ample breakfast. Like most hotels in its price range, the rooms were small but adequate. The room had a very nice shower. It was especially nice to walk in the hotel’s neighborhood at night to view the illuminated cathedral, listen to street musicians, and walk the promenade along the river. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay at the Hotel De L’Ill again.

The staff were a real bonus and went out if their way to give advice, to help us with local advice and to present the little hotel in a good light. All cities have such typical little and older places but tge staff make the difference.
Location was far from the train station but on other hand was away from tye touristy crowds in tge island and Tram C to Galliano was very convenient.
Not much! Compact room but adequate.

We liked the staff - all were friendly and helpful (and had good command of English). We liked the breakfasts - self-service, tasty, good choice of main ingredients and lovely coffee. We also liked the location - it was very close to the Cathedral de Notre-Dame and other historical parts such as La Petite France, many good restaurants and Batorama (= boats on the river I'll), which we enjoyed immensely.
We didn't like our bedroom - it was tiny, the shower cubicle was tiny and the bedroom seemed to be noisy as the windows opened onto a street with fair amount of traffic and repair work

You could access tea/coffee facilities 24 hours a day in the dining area. Very close to the Christmas markets and cathedral! Public parking available around the corner (less than 5 min walk - 22 euro per 24 hours).
The room was small (which we were expecting) and water pressure for hot water in the shower could be better, these are minor notes. Overall we enjoyed our stayed.

We liked the location close to city center and restaurants, the kind staff, the free offered coffee anytime, the refurbished room and the comfortable mattress. Also we could enter the room before official check in time.
The bathroom had a window facing the external corridor. We were visible from the outdoors through the glass of the window because it was not blurred enough.
We didn't like the fact that Nutella jar and some other jars near the coffee machine were left open for all over the day.
If you come late for breakfast there is nothing left to eat. Food is not replenished.

The location, very central is the greatest asset. It's very close to the centre and to very beautiful spots along the water, at the same time it's very quiet (the only "disturbing" noise were the birds in the morning!)
I also received an upgrade for my room when I arrived, which was unexpected and is always a pleasant surprise.
If you are travelling for work, and also intend to work from the room, the desk and chairs are not exactly comfortable or meant for it. If you need the room mostly to relax and sleep - it's perfect!

I enjoyed my stay here very much. The location exceeded my expectations — tucked into a quiet street just one minute from the river, it offered both peaceful nights and easy access to beautiful riverside walks. The room was charming, with a lovely window and very comfortable beds. The staffs were exceptional: I requested a higher floor, and they kindly let me choose the one I preferred. One staff member Soheil is also a musician, shared fantastic recommendations for classical and jazz music and provided great local tips to explore the city! Great conversation made my stay even better! 10/10 would choose to stay here again!

During our first night at this hotel, they placed us in a room that looked nothing like the pictures. It was small and dingy, with peeling paint and no space to move in. The real issue came with the shower, which was covered in mold. I don’t know how they were renting this room out to people in good conscience. The size of the rooms was tiny. This was more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
Think of your own bedroom only smaller with a shower room, and that was about the size.
The breakfasts were thin on the ground, and the hot plate had to be switched on repeatedly. Otherwise, hot food was cold.
Our shower was constantly leaking and made the shower room wet because of a lack of seal around our shower screen. Another member of our party had a damaged shower had which was not repaired after repeated requests.
The walls were very thin, and doors were constantly slammed.

Very small room! My husband is 6'1" his feet hung off the end of the bed. Very noisy location both inside the hotel and outside on the street. The breakfast is adequate with very little hot items. Most expensive room we stayed in while in France and Switzerland with the smallest rooms, and least amenities. Bad smell constantly in the bathroom. Had to prop the door open, and leave the windows open if though it was December and very cold outside.

The room was small and had people outside from midnight to early hours smoking, triggering the light sensor for the light outside the room and talking so kept us awake all night. The window was broken so did not close all the way, letting in cold air and noise. The curtain was mounted too far from the window so it did not keep the light outside, nor did it provide adequate privacy - you could see the person lying in bed from outside - where there was a table and chairs for the smokers. The bathroom window was not opaque enough so you could see the general shape of someone showering. The shower was open to the rest of the bathroom - no shower curtain or curb so the entire floor by the toilet and sink would get wet. The rooms on the other floors are probably nice. This one felt like a store room turned into a room. The scrambled eggs are still a disaster, but you can boil your own fresh egg just how you like. The pastries were big and fresh. They had a good selection for breakfast - yogurt, fruit, meat, cheeses, coffee, tea, real orange juice, etc.

Hotel de L’Ill is an ideal hotel for visiting Strasbourg. It is short 4-5 minute walk across a convenient bridge over the River Ill to old town and the Cathedral quarter, a short 10-minute walk to abundant shops, restaurants and museums located in old town - yet being across the river from old town makes it less crowded and more accessible for taxi’s, ride-share etc. The hotel give me very precise and easy-to-follow instructions for low-cost travel from the airport, by train to central Strasbourg station and then by tram and short walk to the hotel. Everyone at the front desk was helpful. The included morning breakfast was good and had a lot of variety, and it was especially nice that the coffee machine and a bowl of fruits and left-over breakfast pastries were available throughout the day. My room was reasonably large by European standards and well-appointed and very clean.

It was winter and to get to our room you had to walk outside from the main building.Our shower was tiny and if you dropped anything you had to open the door to retrieve it.
