Received a recommendation from a friend about this property and literally texted her during our trip to tell her how appreciative we were. My husband and I came for our honeymoon and were greeted with a friendly staff and flowers and chocolates in the room. The roof deck provided beautiful views of a beautiful city and Paolo (GM) even sent Champagne on New Years Eve to ring in 2023. Very warm staff, very clean and beautiful rooms. Many happy memories came from our Rome experience and grateful Hotel Monte Cenci was a part of it!

The hotel is in an amazing location in the Jewish Ghetto, close to restaurants and walking distance to historical sites and the heart of Rome. The bed was comfortable and the showers was great. They were very accommodating to our religious needs!
The lights in our room werenβt working. We were told that someone would come to fix it, but that never happened. We ordered a special extra breakfast - there was a miscommunication and we only got it on our last morning.

Staff were lovely! Location was good, most sights were about 20 minutes walk. Rooms were a comfortable temperature and were spotless.
Continental breakfast was about average. It was served on the rooftop, which sounds lovely but it wasn't a nice room. Walls were grubby and floor was unsteady underfoot. Just not a comfortable room at all. Room sizes vary quite a bit. We travelled with another couple and there was a big difference in the size of the rooms.

Great location, walking distance to all things. Colosseum 25mins one direction and Vatican the same the other way, but lots to see en route so it never felt long. Pantheon only mins walk away and that was incredible. The best, authentic Roman food we found was south of the hotel across the river in Trastevere, again only a few minutes walk from the hotel with a great vibe!
In regards to the hotel, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, canβt do enough to help. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy, what more could you need. There was a lift even though it only had 5 floors, which was a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend it as it ticked all the boxes for us as a couple exploring this amazing city!

The hotel was expensive. You pay 5 star prices for a 3 star room (scuffs on the walls, dirty/ mouldy grouting in the bathrooms). Overall though, the hotel was clean.

Very clean. Reliable elevator that fit both myself and my child in her non-folding wheelchair. Staff was very helpful with booking transfers and giving recommendations for restaurants. Included breakfast was perfect, rooftop. Sitting area was a beautiful perfect start every morning. Elevator went all the way up, which made it a wonderful choice while traveling with a child in a wheelchair!
The only thing is that the room was a little bit small, I had to put our suitcases in the bathroom. But This is typical for Europe.

Amazing hotel. Great location, too. Right near Piazza Venezia, and walking distance from all major attractions. Staff are extremely professional people, always happy to help. Comfortable rooms with great air conditioning (that is absolutely critical in Rome in the summer)
Hotel staff helped us try to recover lost luggage, many times a day. We are 100% coming back here on our next visit to Rome

Room was lovely and spacious. Nice bathroom with plenty of shelf space. Small balcony. Location is great - not busy but an easy walk to the sites and restaurants. Lovely terrace area to have breakfast.
My room on the 4th floor was quite warm during the day even with aircon on. It was quite hot while we were there. My daughter was on the second floor and much much cooler. There are about 5 steps from reception to the lift. They assisted with the bags which was great but was a bit of a challenge each day for me as I have some vision issues. Same with the stairs that are quite dark. Meant I couldnβt walk up/down the stairs due to this but not a major issue just needed to take extra care.

The location was very good. Centrally located with easy access to many of the attractions and sights. There were dining, shopping, and amazing things to do. Most of our excursions and tours were a short cab ride away. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was wonderful. The room was the smallest that we stayed in the shower enclosure was an interesting solution.
The food at breakfast was okay and they seemed to run out of some of the things we like such as eggs or sausage, but they a full variety of yogurts, fruit and bread.

The stairs were very oddly placed to get from floor to floor. The ac was extremely loud, sounded like a jet engine!! Parking was an issue as apparently the lot is not open all day on Sundays which was never mentioned to us. For the price, I might look for something better next time

I liked the breakfast and the location was nearby to good restaurants and across from a local grocery store. That was very important since I like to buy water and snacks for my room.
The hotel staff consistently made mistakes regarding our booking, our credit cards we put on file, and especially our rate. We booked in June and paid the deposit for a trip in October and then when we arrived the price her night was over $100 difference! That is ridiculous and not logical at all. The man at the front desk said "the rate changes depending on the season" -- well we understand that but when a person books it at a certain rate and pays the deposit 4 months in advance then there is no BASIS or LOGIC to have a different rate at the time of arrival. Also, my girlfriends that were 2 to a room and a larger room paid the same as I did with a "basic room" for one person. All rooms were nice but the pricing was done with no logic and no reasonable explanation. This was done on two separate occasions within a 2 week period, since we had to return to Rome for our last night prior to our flight. It was a shame because I really liked the location.

The location is great: right in the center with all facilities nearby. The room was big, nice and comfortable. The staff was very good.
The heating system was really noisy : had to turn it down to sleep. I informed the reception about the issue and hopefully they will solve it.

It provided us with what we needed, the breakfast was nice and served on a sunny rooftop and the waiter was friendly and attentive. Location was good, easy access into the old city and tourist attractions but then across the river from Trastvere which we liked as not being so touristic. Room was cosy and bed comfortable.
Had to remind staff to top up basic things like the water bottle, a clean mug, and they didn't refill some things in the bathroom. The room was very cold and when we spoke to the night staff about this they dismissed us, I had to ask the cleaning staff in the morning for an extra blanket. Shower seemed damaged and leaked a lot when turned on. Would expect a little better from a 4* hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and inviting. The decor is lovely and elegant. The staff and proprietor are friendly, warm, welcoming, helpful and prompt. The bed and bathroom were very clean and comforting. The rooftop terrace is perfect for a delicious breakfast or cocktail with views of the sunset and some church towers and statues. The location is very convenient by foot to both the Roman ruins and Trastevere. We had an excellent stay. Thank you!

Overpriced not worth the price (both mornings I had only lukewarm not hot water to shower, my room 307 looks at a wall, you can hear your neighbors in the bathroom so itβs overall a bit noisy, breakfast was very basic, rooftop lacking atmosphere with no view, elevator is super slow).

The location is excellent, and the front desk staff were polite, even though the underlying issues with the rooms were never properly resolved.
After two room changes, we continued to experience serious maintenance and sanitation issues, including constant noise and a sewage odor, with no meaningful resolution. Managementβs dismissive responses reflect a pattern seen in prior reviews and suggest long-standing problems that have not been addressed.
