A fantastic traditional and classic 5-star hotel with experienced staff. The hotel is just beautiful, but it is the staff that makes it also a comfortable hotel. Staff that immediately spots you and understand what you need.
If you like the combination of golf, spa, swimming pool and nice food this is a great place to go. If you need a beach its just a short walk and Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon are around the corner. If you don't want to golf every day at the golf course of the hotel, there are plenty of other courses within reach.
No negative experiences, although very happy that we had are own rental car, so we didn't have to use the hotel transfer service to the golf course, which was every half hour.

The hotel was lovely in an 'old school', grand hotel sort of way, but I feel that some updating and modernisation is required. The pool area, for example, is glorious, the breakfast was also fantastic with so much choice, it felt really special. However, the hotel overall feels like it needs a bit of an update if it's going to compete with other hotels in the same price range/star rating etc. but which offer a more modern/contemporary feel. It's a stunning set up, but grand/classic doesn't need to feel old fashioned or dated - small changes would make a big difference.

The amenities of the hotel are excellent. The sis, the gym and the pool ( both outdoors and indoors) are superb. The location is gresreet; just half an hour walk to centre of Cascais along the beach promenade. Breakfast buffet has many choices.
The rooms are extremely old as is the lobby. The hotel needs a major renovation to update and modernize the rooms .These rooms are definitely from another era. That's the only down side for me.

Breakfast was excellent with a wonderful choice of fresh food.
Pool was lovely with no problems finding a sun bed. Pool itself is wonderful and not too full of chlorine. Depth of water and temperature both good.
Room very comfortable and spacious.
Staff are the 'jewel in the crown' as they all look so smart (including the housekeeping staff) are extremely helpful and courteous. Special mention for the Concierge Jose and the helpful pool staff.
Bar staff were sometimes a little too anxious to close the bar at 1pm. Personally, I feel that if paying guests want to continue to drink/talk, then the bar should stay open.
A couple of times our cups and saucers (in the room) weren't replenished.
Suggest that an ice-making machine would be good on each floor. We had to request ice on a couple of occasions.
Bottle of water on arrival, but never again. Would be nice to replenish daily.

This was a beautiful hotel, with a style and level of professionalism that is rarely seen nowadays. Despite an issue we encountered during the night, the way we were treated and the thoughtful gestures they provided afterward truly highlighted the hotel’s high standards. A special mention goes to the duty manager, who has worked there for over 60 years—a person of great class and elegance. Staying here felt like a return to the past, to a time when hotels upheld a level of professionalism and service that is hard to find today.
While the interior may seem a bit old-fashioned, it is meticulously maintained and of the highest quality. A truly exceptional experience!

The property itself is beautiful and the grounds/ history/ rooms are lovely. The location is good to get to the train station to Cascais.
The twin room was sold to us as a family of three. There are two single beds in there, I expected two double beds so we had to ask for an extra rollaway bed. It is not big enough for three.

First class comparable with the Savoy in London Staff well trained but junior staff seemed overwhelmed by senior members, they didn’t have uniforms that fitted.
We would not have stayed here had we known they would have a meeting and guest that required numerous police with guns, inside and outside the hotel. Men in black on some floors five or six. These men were rude and intrusive. This went on for three days.

When we arrived at 2pm our room was not ready even though the Hotel was not very busy, there were at least 4 staff all hovering around ,we were offered a drink at the bar.We were eventually given a room on the 5th Floor but the lifts were both out of action! so we walked up.
The room was a standard double with far to much furniture which made the small space feel very closed in.The TV was in silly position and not all chanels were working luckily we were going out for the evening and not dependig on entertainment.There was a large armchair blocking the small wardrobe the only place for hanging clothes.My Husband wedged the wardrobe door open with the chair!so we could have access.The bathroom was again small the toilet was right behind the door.You had all the towels and toiletries needed for a one night stay.We have stayed here before and had a lovely room on the same floor but we were only requiring a one night stay this time.Im afraid that in our eyes this room was not 5star rating.The Hotel is looking a little dated and I donot expect to use it again.
Also how can they charge the same price for a pint of Beer as a Gin and Tonic??12 euros!!!!

We loved the way the staff made us feel welcome. The facilities were very cozy. The breakfast was very good, even though it would have been perfect if they had granola.
The spa and the gym, that were located in the other building, were both wonderful!
There was too much light coming from the windows in the bedroom. It would be nice to have a better way to cover it up in the morning.

Loved that there was an underground connection between the spa/pool and the hotel. We went specifically for the spa and were really impressed with the quality of the pool, sauna, steam room, and hamam. The treatments were wonderful, and the staff was very helpful at all times.
The bedrooms were beautiful with nice open windows and fresh air, and a massive bathroom with nice smelling products.
The beds were not the same in terms of firmness, so we didn't have the same level of comfort, unfortunately.

All Staff were highly attentive & helpful. Lovely nutritional choices for Breakfast. Pool facilities were very enjoyable & relaxing at the end of the day. Delicious snacks were available at the Bougainvillea Terrace. A memorable stay with a touch of history.
