The entry stairs outside the Universal were long and difficult to reach with too much luggage.
The lighting should have been better. Also there were no safety deposit boxes inside the room. The bathroom was good but very small. Ok for one person only.

Excellent downtown location, just a short walk from Porto City Hall; the bed was quite comfortable; the room was clean and quiet; the staff were kind and helpful; and there was a fast, free Wi-Fi available.
The room was relatively small, and the air conditioning was poorly maintained, struggling to cool the room and exhibiting an inconsistent fan speed. This hotel may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility issues due to a large, steep staircase at the entrance and a high step-up (approximately 1 meter) to access the shower.

The hotel was cute, the staff were friendly, and they let us check in early. So appreciated, as we had arrived early that morning and our red eye flight didn't allow for rest.

Stayed for 2 nights as I wanted to explore Porto before heading to Braga for a wedding. Highly recommend the hotel for it's location alone.

As others have noted, there are 27 steps leading up to reception. I was fine with it, but be aware if you have large heavy luggage. The bathroom was clean but very outdated, cracked caulk around the tub for instance. And very early in the morning (5:30) the hot water was almost non-existent. Also be aware that there is apparently a dance club right nearby - on Saturday night I heard the bass all night long, until 5 am. Super annoying, I ended up wearing my Bose noise cancelling headphones to sleep in.

Pretty nice place in the heart of Porto. I arrived very early, around 7 am and the reception let me store my luggage and even allowed me to enter the room an hour before the official check-in time.
The staff is great and the rooms are clean enough. Of course, it’s your typical 70s Portuguese style hotel, so don’t expect any luxury.
The inconvenient part was that the bathroom had a glass wall, so it was kinda awkward staying there with a friend.

The room was freezing cold, the heating was turned off and the air conditioning didn't manage to heat even a bit. Additionally, the window of the bathroom was stuck open, so cold was coming in the whole night.
