Bus stops vey near to property to go to town and get back- if you wanted.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
It can’t be helped but our room was at the top of the property , there’s no lift and the stair case to get to the room is very steep and with heavy cases it was tough to get up them. Note however that help was offered with cases to the room
Not a dislike at all but the outside appearance of the property is still undergoing some renovation works so it looked a bit untidy at times ( e.g. skip in parking spaces, rendering clean up of windows on- going )

Our hosts were excellent, everything that we could need was in place. The breakfast was home cooked, and done to perfection every single day. It was so good that we decided to try the main dinner, our first was the Sunday lunch... Oh my goodness it was better than my own roast lunch and well worth having. We decided that we could not get better food out so had dinner every evening after that and we were not disappointed the food was something to look forward too. It was delicious. Our rooms was decorated to a very high standard and we had everything we needed. Will be back.

The pics are slightly outdated and don't do this property justice that's for sure.
This was the first time we had used a guest house stay as a family and were pleasantly surprised at how easy Karen and Lee made the process of checking in, explaining how everything worked and how flexible they were to make our stay comfortable.
We booked 2 rooms, one twin and one double, both were comfortable and had fob access, which were next door which was great. Both had power showers, the double also had a bath and were very clean, modern and not at all dated as I had expected (this is going back to what was remembered as a child).
Beds were comfortable and were kitted out with hairdryers, fans and back lit mirrors which our daughters loved. The rooms were checked everyday, bins changed and replenished tea and coffee provisions.
I really can't say anything bad about Westgate at all.
Thanks for the great stay, if only the weather had been as cheerful and bright as the pair of you ??

Great location bus stops right outside lovely clean rooms shower great and powerful just a lovely feel about the place fantastic breakfast experience if you don’t like breakfast here there must be something wrong with a lovely bar area and sitting room plenty of off road parking that’s a big bonus near to the station .it is such a lovely place and the best thing about westgate is Karen and Lee . Mother and son just brilliant hosts nothing is ever to much for them they even took our luggage to the station for us .I think that says it all .will definitely be back to westgate in the future. If you are going to Torquay give it a try bet it’s not the last time you go and stay .back home now 6 satisfied customers .we stayed 1st September to the 7th . The location was perfect for the beach and the town. The breakfast was fantastic and always hot, with plenty of it , we did not leave the table hungry. We got a lovely warm welcome from Karen, and Lee was kind enough to take our bags to our room. We were upgraded to a newly refurbished room (at no extra charge) which was just super lush, with a four poster bed, lovely furniture and a bathroom to die for, we felt like we had won the lottery.
We can honestly say there was nothing we did not like apart from the weather and giving the key back to the room, we just did not want to leave.

The property from the outside/in was lovely compared to many others around the area. The inside of the Guest House was beautifully decorated and very inviting as soon as we stepped through the door. The room was cosy and we had such a great sleep in the comfortable double bed, the carpets looked new and breakfast was lovely with a good selection on the menu! There are two different directions to walk down to the beach and town, depending on your walking pace it can take up to 10 minutes to reach the beach, however both directions are scenic and the walk along the harbour has plenty to stop and look at along the way. The Guest House owners Lee and his Mum are really nice and very accommodating. Although the Guest House had other guests staying, you would not have known as you could not hear a pin drop throughout our stay. It was our first time in Torquay and we look forward to visiting it again, and most definitely will be looking to stay at The Westgate.
Between the two of us (mother and daughter) we can not fault anything at the Westgate.

Gorgeous boutique hotel. We got a complementary room upgrade, which was fabulous. Our upgraded room had the most amazing en-suite bathroom. the hosts Karen and Ian were welcoming and friendly. As we stayed over the Easter weekend, we were left surprise Easter eggs on our pillows, which was a lovely, thoughtful touch. I would highly recommend a stay at The Westgate and will definitely be staying again whenever we re-visit Torquay.

Both Lee and Karen are exceptional hosts and very friendly and helpful , breakfast superb evening meals which you pay extra for were great and good size portions , I would recommend when having evening meals that the onion soup was brilliant and I asked for it again later during our 4 day stay . we asked Lee about some local shops and high tide times for nearby beaches and he even went to check online for us while we were in between meals in the evening . the hotel is well located for beaches and shops in Torquay and also for getting out and about by car,

The hotel exceeded all of our expectations. A special jewel on the English coast. It is conveniently located close to the train station, but also to the beach promenade. Our room with the ancient four-poster bed was so beautiful that you wouldn't really want to share it with anyone else. The bathroom is very large, clean and modern. The breakfasts were great and everything was cooked fresh to your liking.
An ideal location for us - only a short walk/bus journey to the town centre/seafront. A quiet, relaxing break and we will recommend the Westgate to all our friends and would certainly stay there again.

I enjoyed the personal welcome to the hotel. The allocated room was spacious, as was the bathroom, which added to the hotel experience. The breakfast was a full English, but could be tailored to individuals' needs. The bar, accessible in the evening, has a great stock of different ciders and lagers, so I was more than happy.
I enjoyed my stay very much.

Everything was fantastic – plenty of private parking, friendly staff, massive impressive room with an enormous bathroom, which was all spotless and had everything you could possibly need. Lovely breakfast too! Very close to the seafront but nice and quiet road. I will definitely be back.
The mattress was a little too hard for my taste. (I do like a soft mattress), but that’s not really the properties fault! Can’t please everyone with mattress softness!
