The STAFF are magnificent
Truly wonderful people - I have stayed there a number of times and they have recognised me and included me in a big welcome. They remember me from when my shows were on Broadway etc.
Rooms are great but a little dark so hard sometimes to find things.

The hotel staff was wonderful, always had a kind word, some great suggestions about what to explore and helping with everything we needed.
The hotel also had a rooftop, that had some great views and a cozy ambiance.
The room was of regular size, well furnished and had also nice views of New York.
The location was amazing. Close to a nice deli, metro and Time Square.
All in all, it's a nice hotel with a wonderful staff.

The location was great. 5 minutes from Time Square. Lots of bars & restaurants right outside the hotel. Amazing views as well were on the 22nd floor. It was a small room but we knew that & to be honest it’s all we needed.
Everything was great but maybe an extra towel would have been nice. But not a big deal.

The hotel was lovely the rooms are nicely decorated
Me and my partner had no issues during our stay. The hotel was lovely and the staff were really helpful they really went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special. The issue was once we left the hotel. My partner noticed 350 dollar charge from the hotel we had no information from the hotel to tell us what this charge was about. I emailed the hotel and was informed the charge was a smoking fine, me and my partner don’t smoke. Me and my partner sent several messages and emails to try and get this money back from the fine. What I find worst of all is to take a 350 dollar fine and no email or message to inform the account holder this is completely unethical. Me and partner finally got the money back after several stressful emails but now this has dampened the stay and wouldn’t stay again.

The location was fantastic, right in the theater district and close to Times Square. The room was small and cozy with a great view! The Starchild atop the property has a great view as well!
Fewer amenities (no coffee in room) than expected, and the shower design had water splashing all over the bathroom floor, so multiple towels were necessary.

The style of the decor. The location near our activities. The illuminated cubby beneath the bed provided extra room in this tiny room (we did pick the smallest, cheapest room). The small square footage was made doable by smart design choices: good mini reading lights, a tray next to the bed with outlets, the upholstered built in chair that doubled as a luggage rack. Very friendly helpful staff (extra bonus: rocket the dog!) Really comfortable bed and pillows. Room darkening shade, operated automatically.
Having to pay extra for maid service. Having to download an app to order any extra services. Coffee not being ready until 7AM. Our early departure for the airport required coffee at 6:30. A self service breakfast for $30 a head wasn’t worth it. The choices and selection were worth less than $30. A small ledge accessible by the person sleeping in the side of the bed against the wall would have been appreciated

Personal is very nice and it is very well located
Basically everything else. It is an overpriced tiny and dusty room with a bumpy mattress a toilett and a beautiful decoration. You have no space to leave the clothes nor to even open your bag, is a double bed, but you can get out only for one side, and everytime you move a cloud of dust comes from the piece of cloth that covers the bed. The mattress is old and bumpy. There is not even a toilett brush!. But nevertheless you pay 300€ night and its supposed to be a 4 stars hotel

Nice hotel deco and vibe.
The room I stayed in was only slightly bigger than the bed which wasn’t big. No closet, my clothes were thrown on a little bench besides the bed. Defiantly doesn’t suit a couple. Cleaning of the room was done only once in 4 days stay.

Friendly staff, great location. Smaller rooms than expected, but you get what you pay for. And if you’ve ever lived and worked in central London, it’s no different. We just wanted a great location, somewhere to get a great sleep, with friendly staff and people, what more can you ask for. Great stay, thank you to all the staff that made us welcome, and we would not hesitate to recommend Civilian Hotel to friends and family, for shorter stays, or upgrade your room if you need more space, for longer stays. Had everything we needed for a short stay, 3 nights to visit US friends in NY.
Rooms are smaller than expected, but the hotel does quote the sizes, and NY is premium property, so what do you expect. Pay more, get a bigger room, our friends went bigger, and we possibly should have, but that was our decision at the time, we were happy in ours. Next time we will go bigger for longer stays.

The roof is TINY. Definitely not good value for money for the size. Nowhere to hang shirts if you are going to fancy restaurants or bars and you want to dress up. The door for the bathroom is frosted glass so not much privacy re the toilet. Also we were disturbed a lot with people coming back late- doors aren’t sound proof.

Room was comfortable, very quiet (stayed on a higher floor), clean, and smelled great. The bathroom was very nice, cool fixtures and tile work.
We went to a great live jazz show at the middle bar/restaurant and had a good time. The overall environment and condition of the hotel is excellent. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.
I’ve stayed in hotels all around the city for my work trips, and this is one of my new favorites. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be located in this particular area again, or if I was catching a show at a theatre nearby. The location is close to times square, but felt a good, manageable distance from the most chaotic regions. Also a very easy walk up to Upper West Side and Central Park.
For the room we stayed in, there was an odd motion activated light that is part of the under-bed luggage storage, built into the bed frame. The light came on if one of us walked by to use the restroom at night, and it was very bright. Our room was well lit during the day and had other softer, better lighting for use if we really needed to look into this cubby (which we kept empty, did not need to put a suitcase under the bed). I would recommend disabling these odd and unnecessary under-bed motion activated lights or providing a switch to keep off at night so that bright lights don’t flood the room when partners or guests are sleeping.

The room size was tiny so if you have bg luggage not much room to move. Also if you want it to be made up you have to pay, however they did provide us with clean towels when we asked for free but old ones weren't collected.

Room was very small with hardly any storage for clothes. No coffee facilities in the room, we were only told upon checkout that there was free coffee 7-10am in the lobby. Towels were tiny, my partner is 6’4 and they were just too small. The gym that is partnered with the hotel was a bit grotty and didn’t reflect the pictures of a luxury gym online

The location - its in Hells Kitchen aka the theatre district - so I was able to watch shows and walk safely to my hotel in 10 mins. Friendly staff always available when you need them. Love the interior design of the hotel had a mid century modern vibe.

Amazing location. It's a couple of minutes walk from Times Square and still my room wasn't noisy at all. My room was small but comfortable and also well equipped. The hotel had a lovely bar and restaurant and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect for theatre, restaurants and sight seeing. The staff have a lovely chill vibe and were helpful and always welcoming.
The “cozy queen” rooms are very cozy, very small but well thought out with great attention to detail and afford a spectacular city view from the full length windows. Don’t miss out on the second floor cocktail lounge, it’s beautiful and a perfect spot for a night cap.
