Location was super central, abit further away from the main central area but that's OK and was up on the slope near a Powell / Hyde Tram stop. Super convenient to getting around as it was also close to a major bus stop near Stockton and Sutter Road. I could get to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Mason easily, as well as transit to the southern areas eg Mission District.
The bedroom floors get alittle squeaky as they were all wooden boards - so it makes a bit of that noise while you are walking about in the bedroom else all good. Room was small but clean and quiet, with some awesome smelling lotions and soaps to use.

The location is very good with a lot of restaurant and Union Square close. A lot of reviews said that the breakfast wasn't good but we had a nice brekfast, even when they run out of eggs we asked for more and they cooked more. The hotel is old and the cheapest rooms are small but you know it before you're booking so we were fine with it (in case you want something with extra space do the upgrade for the next room). We appreciated the hotel had a fridge so you can leave some stuff in case you want to save some money instead of going out to restaurants.

Nice rooms excellent attention from staff
They contacted me to let me know that they weren't able to acomodarte us, so they sent us to the Tilden Hotel. The biggest problem was that the main reason we picked The Cornell Hotel was because of the breakfast it provided, and the Tilden hotel did not provide breakfast. Because of this, I would like to have a partial refund.

The staff were friendly and the location was great! There were a few issues but the staff did help with the heater and the hot water worked the second night. The elevator was cool and the French medieval decor was unique. The bed was comfortable enough and the bathtub was nice. I appreciated the kindness of the staff.
The room didn't match the blue Queen Deluxe one I booked and I had specifically chosen this hotel for the nice room (also paying more for it). The first night the hot water didn't work (so no bath :( ) and the heater was broken. The breakfast was not at the quality I'd expect. I think for the price, the value was not there for me as it was expensive.

The location of the hotel is good being just around the corner from Union Square and access to trams etc. The room was very comfortable if a little rough around the edges, e.g doors had been taken off the built in wardrobe but the hinges had been left and not repainted. We could seem to make the safe work. However the bed was really comfortbale and the room was quiet.
The hotel is very quirky and a bit unusual
The parking is really limited, there is a garage across the road which is not linked to the hotel, however it is expensive and you can only take your car out once per day. The breakfast was ok until the last day when we were told there was a "problem" with the kitchen, no more explanation. Supposedly some food was to be provided upstairs but it appeared to be coffee only and as we were leaving that day we couldn't hang around for any length of time. really we should have been offered a refund as we had already pre-paid for breakfast.

The location was good.
It was 96 degrees and they had no air conditioning. The sheets were like sandpaper. The breakfast was awful. The nice restaurant in the basement closed some time ago. The stairs are criminal--and the elevator was only able to be run by staff. I stayed here 26 years ago when it was wonderful. Make a different choice.

Amazing place! Very lovely decorated with the spirit of old France, feel like in the museum or castle , especially in the dining hall )) Elevator is a masterpiece!! Beside this impression - the room was very comfortable, bed just perfect for a proper rest. Breakfast - good options. Not super rich, but absolutely satisfying. Hotel itself is pretty clean, location is just in the middle of the town, safe and clean area
There is a specific and a bit strange smell in the hotel reception and dining area. Luckily the room was out of it

The location was great with so many quality restaurants nearby and easy walking distance to sites or trolley stations to get anywhere. The entire hotel was so quaint and authentic. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very satisfying with a lot of different options.

The rooms were not like the ones in Booking's pictures. They are apparently undergoing renovation which was not communicated to us before our arrival. Our room was still nice but not the one we expected and booked this hotel for.

Unique Boutique Hotel with wonderful staff
This is an older boutique hotel and it is over due for some maintenance like new flooring, windows (our were cracked & only 1 opened) , & paint. We understand from meeting & talking with long time guests that it is under new ownership. The “breakfast” is basic and uninspired for such a unique property. Sadly they don’t seem interested in reviving the French restaurant & appear to only be doing the bare minimum for maintaining this historic property.

We liked the French art and motif very much. Our room had several Matisse paintings. The junior suite provided a separate area for sitting. The bathroom was very bright.
We found very little to eat at the breakfast because we can't tolerate gluten and don't eat meat or dairy. One morning there was almond milk, which we used for cereal and coffee, but there was none the second morning; the staff simply said they were out. (Soy or oat milk are better nondairy options.) The outlets in the room were difficult to reach.

Very small bathroom and shower, shower was not very powerful connecting taps were broken so very difficult to adjust water temperature.
Bathroom door did not close properly and also squeaked this was very annoying.
Room supplied a filtered coffee machine, unfortunately nowhere to plug it in safely, not enough sockets.

Perfect neighbourhood to start exploring the city by foot, cable car, busses.
We cooked the room by dedicated pictures of the room at the attached prices for that’s room. Although in the same category, we got a other room. This was not mentioned during the booking and the personal was not able to change it. Quite disappointing!
