We received a room reallocation (and upgrade) when we complained that room initially allocated did not meet description.
Pleasant lounge area for day time guest use with complimentary morning pastries.
Good location - walkable to Union Square and ferries.
Room initially allocated to us (615) was worst on floor (this was obvious from floor exit plan). It was tiny, dark, looked at a concrete wall and did not meet room description as it had no desk or sitting area. This was despite booking well in advance and the hotel not being full.
A shame lounge area is locked up in the evenings - especially for those in smaller rooms.
At time of booking we had understood this area to be a bar in the evening!

The building and the location of the hotel, walking distance from many places of interests. The room was cozy with a nice view.
The room is very small. The wifi did not work for 2 days out of 3 and they were not able to fix. The bathroom has a ridiculously small wash basin and the WC got clogged twice which was extremely unpleasant. The cleaning could have been better.

We arrived early from the airport after a long flight and we checked in almost 3 hours early as they had a room ready for us which was brilliant. The aircon was fantastic, keeping us warm/cool as needed. The bed was comfortable and the shutters kept out the morning sun. The hairdryer supplied was excellent, much more powerful than larger hotel chains we have been to in the USA. They provide a Nespresso coffee machine and a selection of pods along with a fridge which came in helpful. The location of the hotel was great, bus stops right outside the hotel which go to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 etc. I have to mention Lovely who was at the desk on the day we departed - she couldn't have been more helpful with our luggage (we had lots of it!) and was more than accommodating - she is a fantastic employee - a great asset to the company!
We really enjoyed our stay but if we had to pick something we did not like so much, it would have to be the complimentary breakfast. There was no milk for the coffee and the blueberry scones, although huge, were lacking in flavour but you can't expect too much when it is complimentary!

There are no facilities. No restaurant no bar. We regret not staying at Beck’s in the Castro. There is one elevator and it’s super slow. They try to make it sound charming that it’s old and original. The hotel was clearly a flophouse that was quickly renovated and turned into a hotel. The LA Pali hotels are all awesome and in good areas. This one is in a terrible location. Garbage trucks pick up garbage bins in the alley every morning at 5:45am. So loud.

Great hotel vibe & decor, the staff was super friendly and allowed us a (verryyyy) late check in!
The hotel does not have a full breakfast but serves coffee & pastries in the morning which was a great surprise.
Thanks to the late night staff that gave us a complimentary upgrade to a suite after a >50h train ride to get to SF :)
The elevator was not working during our stay, but the staircase is quite friendly to go up! Unless you have mobility issues you won’t have any problems
I’ve noticed the hotel had a super cool bar on floor 2 (where coffee was in the morning!) it would be great if it could turn into a cocktail for happy hour too!

My stay at Palihotel in San Francisco was a mixed experience. The hotel exudes charm, with everything looking even better in person than in the pictures. The atmosphere is lovely, and the location, just steps from Union Square, couldn't be better. The receptionists were incredibly helpful throughout my stay.
Unfortunately, during my visit, the lift wasn't working, which posed a challenge, especially since my room was on the 6th floor. The bathroom, while well-equipped, suffered from low water pressure in the shower and a delay in getting warm water. Additionally, there were no restrooms available outside the rooms, which was inconvenient. The room itself was quite chilly. It would have been appreciated to have been informed about these shortcomings before arrival, and a price discount to compensate for them would have been a nice gesture. Overall, while Palihotel has its positives, the issues encountered during my stay detracted from the overall experience.

Great location, parking across the street, safe and easy walk to several great neighborhoods, coffee, restaurants, shopping, theaters. The room was chic, pretty, and comfy with robes and a wool blanket. Second floor lounge is spacious for a morning treat and drip coffee or meeting up with friends, doing work, etc.
A little noisy at night from a nearby restaurant kitchen. Bathroom vanity is tiny. There was an espresso machine but nobody operates it.

The room was a good size, with enough room for our bags, tv and mini bar. The bed was comfortable and made for a nice place to rest at the end of a busy day travelling/sightseeing.
The lift was out of order for our whole stay. Which as international travellers both with 2 x large 25kg suitcases, was where we’ve unfortunately lowered our overall rating.
My partner had to carry 50kg of luggage up 3 levels of narrow stairs and back down again, as it was not operating still when we left.

Pali Hotels make sure you have everything you need and are very comfortable and accommodating. This was no exception. We were very happy there and will definitely be back when we need to "escape" to San Francisco again.
Hot water kettle in room would be good. We had one in Seattle. Not a deal breaker by any means, just a suggestion.

Honestly everything about the place. The hotel is lovely and has a great aesthetic. Comfortable beds and great shower - the toiletries smelt great as did the entire hotel. Pastries and coffee in the bar area each morning was a great touch - just make sure to get there earlier as on one occasion when I went later they had run out. Great location with buses to Fisherman’s Wharf and Crissy Field just outside the front door.
Despite my criticism below on the initial room staff were quick to remedy by allocating a new room further away from the stairs, telling me to take my time moving things between rooms. This solved all negatives and was done apologetically and with no pushback from staff. If you are after a quieter stay or have had a long flight, ask for a room further away from the stairs and you shouldn’t have any issues.
Upon checking in was informed the elevator was out of order, no big deal, guests all placed on a lower floor to remedy this - the problem became apparent overnight when trying to sleep, I was allocated a room right near the stairs so was awoken multiple times by people moving about on and dragging luggage up the wooden staircase (just behind the head of my bed). Staff remedied this by giving a new room for subsequent nights.
Would have loved the bar to be open for drinks in the evening. This seems like such a waste of a great space.

I like Palisociety and their locations as the others I have stayed in, the decor saved the stay but it was limited in what it offered. Rooms pretty dark and one was really smelling luckily the staff allowed me to change rooms.
In all it was good for the price.

Great location, friendly staff. This is a fab place for a couple nights. However, the walls are very thin. The people above me clearly had kids and you could hear every single jump off the bed. The beds are big and cozy. There's not much space in the rooms but that is to be expected in SF. Just gotta play suitcase tetris and you're good!
The room had a full fridge and tons of snacks... none of which were complementary, basically meaning I couldn't use the fridge to store my own things. The bathroom is neat but the shower could use a removable head, otherwise it's hard to shower only the body.

All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. This is our second time staying there and we definitely would recommend everyone to try this hotel out. We booked for a King Room and upon my arrival, they accommodated us to a handicap room when the front desk clerk saw me in a wheelchair. I really enjoyed our conversation with the friendly front desk clerk. Amazing as the first time we were there. Thank you for a lovely room.
