There was no security to the dorm room. Anyone staying in other rooms could enter. There was a no shoe policy around the hostel, which was okay but the stairs (down to the basement dorm) metal capping had been dented and every other step I would step on the sharp edge. Overall the flooring throughout, could do with an upgrade.

Friendly staff, tasty pancakes on breakfast, clean linen
Shoes are not allowed though sometimes the floor was not dry in WC and shower room. Ventilation above the bed was moldy, that's why I have to ask to replace my bedding place (the administrator was friendly and agreed).

I was pleased to find clean sheets and towels. They were immaculately white without any spots.
However, I must admit that the comfort level of the mattresses left much to be desired. They were not particularly comfortable, and unfortunately, the beds made quite a bit of noise, which affected the overall sleeping experience.

Very clean, friendly staff, breakfast in the morning... my only issue was the people snoring, but that's clearly not the duo's fault. 10/10 would recommend. In walking distance from national mall/ major museums. But you can bus or Uber (10$ pre tip) too.

The booking said wifi available in all areas but there were almost no wifi signal in most areas and room and even if there were it was not working. The common areas did not have enough seating spaces and no milk for the breakfast tea.

I liked the comfortable beds. The sheets were clean. It was easy to fall asleep. Most beds had outlets. The location is not the best, but for this price it is the closest to the downtown. You get to meet people from across the world. There were people of all ages, the oldest were in their 70s. The AC works great.
They have free lockers where you can leave your bags even after you check out.
It is by far not the worst hostel I have been to.
While it was kind of clean, there were mice in my room. I saw at least one mouse under the beds. It also ate the bread I had in a plastic bag under the bed. I had to throw out the rest of it. I wasted 6 bucks on that loaf of bread. I attached photos of the bread and crumbs the mouse left from eating it.
There was also a rat and cockroaches in the kitchen late at night.
Not that many restrooms - if you come on hollydays or during a high season, you may wait like 5-10 mins to use the restrooms in the morning. The 2 front doors with 6 digit combinations are annoying and difficult to use each time you go outside. One front door would be enough, why 2?
They do not give you any soap to take a shower.
The wifi connection is weak, and for the most time works fine only on the ground floor.

Rules are restrictive with the 10pm shutdown hours
Upstairs lounge feels too hot and there is no ac
Every where you go in the establishment you are reminded that you can be fined 1000 dollars if you break a rule which is a big turnoff.
And the no shoes rule is weird but liveable.
Seems like the owner doesnt really care about travelers needs and rather how to not do the house wrong.
Its just an OK hostel, wouldnt want to go back there though.

The staff were all friendly, and helped taking my luggage to the room on the 3rd Floor. Making my check in quite easy. The room stayed had two bathrooms attached. Also the Kitchen was clean.
The bathroom needs more attention, and should be properly clean each time. There were stains on the hand basins. Also, for most of the time the room was very stuff with 6 people. The AC won't work properly, and weren't allowed to Open the window.

Reasonable location - 10-15min walk from the metro. 20min walk to the national mall.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Beds were comfy and good quality towels.
No prior notice that they were shutting main kitchen during my stay - did provide another very small kitchen but not very well stocked with pans etc.
not sound proof - lots of street and road noise.
Shower - no changing cubicle and womans shower room led off of reception/where they were serving breakfast so if anyone opened the door you were fully exposed- had to get dressed standing in the shower - not ideal.
Wi-Fi was not good.
I understand due to the main kitchen being shut it may be different normally but the breakfast was pancakes every morning - the pancakes were really good but could have done with a bit of variety.
Also whilst I was there they decided to hand wash a rug whilst it was still on the floor in my dorm - it felt damp for a good couple of days - why not just take the rug away to wash it?

The location is extremely convenient and the cost-quality relationship is pretty good. You can even walk to the main monuments and museums of DC. The facilities are pretty standard for a hostel.
I wouldn't mind if there were more restrooms and the showers aren't private at all, I mean, you can literally watch other people taking a shower because of the glass doors, so if you have a problem with that, maybe you should think twice about your stay in this hostel, that was my biggest issue, otherwise, i would recommend staying in the hostel.

It has ironing equipment available, it was very secure with a two-stage locked entry, and it had a good siting room!
There werent any toiletries available (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) for free or to purchase. There also werent any tables to work at with a laptop except for in the kitchen area. I also felt slightly uncomfortable walking alone at night in the area around the hostel, there isnt a lot of foot traffic there after dark

The location was excellent, the staff were friendly and Helpful. Special recognition should be given to staff member J. An amazing credit to the team.
Free breakfast is a nice touch and pancakes are made fresh.
No soap or shower gel/shampoo provided in the showers. Time restrictions put on male showers ie can only shower at certain times but not the case for females, atleast there are signs saying as much, not sure how well this is enforced.
Air conditioning was not working in dorms one of the nights of my stay, you can manage without if there is good ventilation but there were no windows in the dorm I was in.

The receptionist tried to be nice
The reception smells disgusting because everyone has to take off their shoes upon arrival (rules of the hostel) - there were around 40 pairs when we arrived. The rooms are unsafe as there are no locks on the doors. I would not recommend this hostel. And definitely not worth the money we spent!

Trip highly influenced by a member of staff who was unresponsive and likely under the influence of something when trying to check in. Led to about 12 people in the small lobby unable to be checked in and unable to communicate with anyone for over 2 hours until another member of staff arrived and managed to assist.
I have now been informed that this member of staff is no longer working there, but it was a completely unacceptable situation making paying customers feeling very vulnerable and scared in a new city.

Friendly atmosphere. Easy to meet new people as a solo traveler! Loved that breakfast was included.
Handtowels were used in the shared spaces, and they did not look clean. Unhygienic. The one in the kitchen also looked nasty and was used by the cleaner/ breakfast maker to dry plates.
