The location
Misleading photos and poor maintenance
The photos on Booking.com are completely misleading. The rooms in the pictures look bright, modern, and clean — but in reality, the hotel is very old and poorly maintained. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, and part of it even fell to the floor during the night. The sofa was stained, the tables were scratched, and the refrigerator didn’t work. Our room faced a concrete wall with no natural light at all. Definitely not what we expected based on the photos.

Location was perfect. Beds were very comfortable. Desk staff were very helpful. Room was good size.
One of our members was dressed for the comic con in the city, and the doorman treated her badly until the rest of us arrived. She was meeting us there, and he didn’t think she was with a group. There was a lot of mildew in our shower. Our refrigerator didn’t work.

The room was old, black dirty grout in the entire bathroom, lukewarm warm shower water, dirty carpet, no coffee, food or bar. For $422 a night definitely not worth it. We will not be returning.

Excellent location for walking to any Broadway play and Times Square as well as MOMA and shopping. All staff were extremely helpful, informative, and friendly.
It would have been nice to have coffee in the room or in the lobby, but there was a coffee shop nearby.

There was really nothing about the experience that was good. The hotel had ZERO facilities, nothing. No coffee in the AM, no bar, no restaurant. The rooms were very dated. At one time the Royalton was THE hotel to stay at in NYC. Gone are those days - it's a sad shell of what it used to be.
They could find a way to provide some amenities for guests.

The location was cozy and we were very happy with our room and being centrally located to Bryant Park, Times Square, the theater, and fifth ave.

At the time of our visit the hotel was undergoing renovations, however we weren't impacted during our stay and found the staff to go out of their way to exceed expectations. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Location was perfect to Bryant Park and Radio City Music Hall. We would absolutely stay at this location again and felt very safe.

The Royalton has always been one of my favorite hotels. I've loved the way it looks and feels not anymore
The hotel is starting to look old and run down. No glasses in my room. No coffee or tea. You don't have a restaurant or bar not even concession machines. I can remember when the Royalton hotel used to be this vibrant cool cool hangout, it doesn't even resemble that anymore.

The lobby was gorgeous, warm & welcoming. Loved the second automatic doors too, very charming. Hotel was perfectly located - only a few blocks from the Broadway show we went to see & time square!! Also right beside a parking garage was useful!

Excellent guest service from Front Desk to Doorman (Dino) to housekeeping but especially Engineering. I had an issue with the in room safe on a Sunday night and needed the contents prior to leaving at 4:30 the following morning. Both engineers who replied were great but Dennis went above and beyond KUDOS!
I wish the current ownership would consider creating the vibe and feel the property had prior. The bones ate the same but it’s definitely not the same hotel it was.
Absence of all food and beverage even in room coffee service.
